951 and 992 based on 904cc are really a great engine. I've build 10 and I love the torque of this engine

cool. have you just machined the 92mm pistons? certainly the cheapest option - having a pair of pistons made out here is quite expensive. gets rid of some weight too. i guess you could lift the cylinders a little too.

You're single-handedly creating a Ducati tech out of me. Thanks to many of your videos, I have been able to finnagle my way around a 90's Monster that bounced around local shops for a while. I have noticed that many videos still apply across multiple models, which makes watching for the fun of it even more rewarding.
Thank you for the library of knowledge you're translating into understandable videos. I would like to store your videos on a backup drive in case something ever happens to your channel, would you be okay with that?

the way i see it, once the video is published you pretty much lose control of it. like the comments section and the lunacy that shows up there sometimes. it's just a public forum.

Hi Brad sorry for the question,I was just wondering what sort of cam timing figures you would recommend for my 96 900ss with ST2 cams.
    Thanks from kiwi land 👍

106 degrees ish, depending on the piston to valve clearance. that would determine it. probably as advanced as possible to maintain 1.5mm piston to valve clearance.

Interesting. Can you yae the toyota rods for anything they are 122mm centres

the 900/1000 rods are 130mm c/c, so 122 is way too short. if you go much shorter on rod the pistons will hit the crank at bdc. although the st3 works with 124mm rods, but those pistons are quite short under the pin.

I'm interested to see what can be done with a 1999 750ss ie.
Not that I wanna rebuild my motor right now but I wondered if they will benefit from a few top end tweaks.

the 750 engine was a victim of its place in the line up. it had to be less powerful by a margin compared to the 900. as such, it's a bit of a dog. the 800 shows what the 750 could be with bigger valves, better cams and more comp. this is my take on it - www.bikeboy.org/brads750m.html

After having a good read through the article you linked I wondered if you could tell me more about the narrowed 900 cranks? Or if you have an article on that?

@@Daniel_D_King it's a 900 crank with the same alternator snout length as the small block. not much else to it. fitted to 900ss up to some time in 1992 i think. i put it in 600 cases once. think it's in the blog? have to have a captain cook. found it. bradthebikeboy.blogspot.com/2014/04/fitting-2003-onwards-696796800-6-speed.html

Are the cylinder heads the same on the 1000ds and 1100ds? I was looking for used parts on my MTS 1000ds and found the head from the 1100ds, will it fit? Thanks!

you can use parts catalogues to try to work it out. depends on the year. possibly due to the lh cam bearing change. www.bike-parts-ducati.com/ducati-motorcycle/assignment_spare_parts/30122331A

@@bradthebikeboy Thank you for your reply! Yes, I saw these diagrams, but I don't get the difference between years of 1000ds engine, I thought that 1000ds was the same through all the years. (1100 was 98mm, instead 94mm of 1000 bore) So, the difference between 2006 and 2005 of 1000ds, except just part numbers, is not obvious for me...

@@konstantinbedin9891 nor me. i would expect them to be functionally the same.
