I've watched about 12 of you all's videos and love them. I'm 62, but it reminds me of when I was around 12 being at my Uncle Johnny's house hanging with my cousins. We were always doing something, fixing something, welding stuff, and just plain ole messing around on dirt bikes, in VW baha bug, just good old fashioned fun. We didn't need social media or anything else to just have fun. 😁
I hear ya I love pressure washing everything at my house and shop when you start seeing the mold and dirt peeling off. Matter fact I pressure washed my neighbors front porch and brick steps today.
Just wanted to mention to Sleeperdude fans that I purchased the Sleeperdude hoodie for myself and it is awesome. It is the heaviest hoodie I've ever owned. Collar tag says Delta Fleece 55% cotton 45% polyester. Very warm and comfortable. I'd pay more for an embroidered one, but this is a great hoodie and I'm pleased with my purchase. Jay Spring Lake N.C.
The tractor was the best purchase you made it will tow 3 of those vans in low gear. I recommend for towing you weld up a heavy gauge tube with a shackle on each end for your safety. There’s nothing like towing with a solid bar it’s the safest way. 24:45

1978 was the last years my Dad. Was drinking too much alcohol. And on new years day, 1979. He stopped drinking liquor forever. Good luck on getting the van running again.
Back in 1985 , my cousin bought a 1979 E250 , 460 , dark blue and light tan , that thing would carry 12 passengers and tow a car trailer with ease . It looked awesome with a new set of outlaw aluminum wheels and white letter tires , he paid $3000 from a wholesale dealer for it , it literally looked brand new
Something to try; jack up the rear of the van and with the rear wheels in the air, try running it without the weight on the van to purge the transmission. I did that in the past and it worked. Just something to try.
Josh yes change the filter and fluid in the transmission. Also check the vacuum modulator. Make sure the vacuum hose is good and check and see if the modulator holds vacuum.

Hey Josh, whenever I use Lucas products, I always mix it with the fluid it is going in with to make it thinner. Engine oil, I will pour 1 quart out of the gallon bottle in the motor, then pour the Lucas into the gallon bottle and shake it to mix it. Same with trans fluid. Makes it easier to pour in! Hope this helps in the future.
Can’t wait to see the van getting a wash . She’s going to look great . Yep I’m optimistic big time . Love watching your videos the whole family thing . Kind regards. Martin in the UK x
My Mom had a red and white Ford Van like this, but hers was an Econline...brings back great memories..used to use it to pull our little two horse trailer...we went all over the Country with that thing..to a lot of Horse Shows. Just love your channel!!
I really love the way the kids get in there and help with no complaints and I really think that Josh could be an automotive teacher with the patience he has with his kids and the way they do it with him
That is a big van! Can't wait to see it all cleaned up with new casings etc. On to the clean up video!!! We could watch hours of your videos, not just 1 1/2 hours. Keep them coming!
@@nicklittlefield389 U took the words right out of my mouth. I was just fixing to comment this idea. Hope they c this and mke a completely unedited video. I bet it would b absolutely hilarious.
My dad was a union rep for Caterpillar retired in 1997. He bought 3 ford vans from the company office. 1977 1/2 ton. 1978 3/4 ton. 1983 3/4 ton extended club. All had 351 Windsor engines. 300,xxx miles on all 3 vans. Best vehicles we ever had.
My dad and mom had the same exact van for hauling his dirtbike around and traveling for him and mom. You asked if those hubcaps were the factory hubcaps and I have to tell you yes they were. My parents had the same exact hubcaps and they bought their band brand new. It was a great band. I loved it even though I didn’t end up with it when they passed.
I'm impressed that the engine started up so quickly but also it was so quiet!! no lifter noise or even belts slipping.....You may have to add some Wawa, logic subtitles LOL she cracked me up with the front plug, back plug thing anyway I always enjoy watching you guys working together it reminds me of working with my dad he's 86 now so my brother and I do the work for him now...looking forward to next week Karl from eastern Canada
I would definitely gut those drums and get the back wheels completely free before giving up on this transmission. It won't hurt anything since the wheel cylinders are gone anyway.
That looks a lot like a summer camp van, drove one very similar in the Adirondacks... full of kids and pulling a trailer full of canoes. Glad to see it running, gonna be nice to get it moving!
My mom had a 79 Van with a floor stick shift! It had a 351 Windsor engine (69 to 96 production years) and converted over to automatic transmission. Went on countless off-road camping trips of all kinds. Plenty of giddy up and go for towing trailers or whatever. Some of our mountains 4000 foot climb up. Ours had rear air conditioning but it was under the front bench seat.
Probably should have been pushing with the tractor when you loaded it, would save a lot on the winch, and battery draw! Van is like 5,200 pounds with a locked caliper making it like 8,000 pounds, sure does look like alot of fun I used to do alot of this same stuff with my dad & brother when I was a kid, we had a old home made race car trailer though no double axle for us, I miss all the good fun!! Stay safe fam.
If you put a bicycle tube between the casing and the hoop the inflate it a little then you have a seal and can get it on the bead. I've done full size tractor casings with just a small compressor. Hope this helps.
Josh, that lever with the keyed cylinder under the dash was the factory optional security package.... I do believe that locked the hood... and if memory serves me right there should be another keyed cylinder on the drivers front fender for the optional alarm...
The silver locking pull handle near the parking brake is a locking hood release. Had it on my 1980 club Wagon. From 1975 that series had no glove boxes.
Ralphie you crack me up. Great to see an appearance from the big star Rocky. This one could stand a block flush. Thanks for another great episode. This heavy duty van is awesome.
Hi Josh and family! Another quality video. I’ve been looking forward to the van video since you said you bought it. I cheered when she started and when she moved the inch under her own power. She will run like the wind when you get her parts. Ralfe slayed me when he was hanging on the jack 😂. I can picture it now the van painted solid white with red pinstripes with Sleeperdude down both sides front to back across the hood pulling the trailer with the Pinto and Gremlin to the track! Can’t wait to see Part 2. Thanks again for not disappointing!!!!! ❤
Another great video! As an avid 2nd generation Ford man, one of the first things I learned about the neverspark boxes, they'll start. But if they just quit after getting to temp, the box is bad. There was gel melt already on that rig, so I would take those two screws out and see what the box looks like underneath. If it shows any melt, just replace it. Keep the old one to get ya to the parts store when the new one melts down. Keep up the great content!

I really love watching a happy family working on cars together! I'm so happy to see kids this age taking an interest in these older cars and trucks! you guys are great parents!
I think it was either Matt on Diesel Creek or Salvage Workshop that used a ratchet to unstick brake drums or was it dozer tracks? Your pit crew is getting better and better. Ralphie quoting the manual on ya! Daaaang! Who are these wiz kids?
Yes I have used a come along like that to free up a stuck brake drum. I have also cut a hole in a wheel that I could hook a chain into a wrap the chain around the wheel so it comes out to the bottom in the direction I will be pulling and hook onto it with my truck and give it a hard tug and break it free that way.
Really liked this video of the van.I hope that the transmission isn't bad and you get it going under its own power.Ill be anxious to see the next video of this one to see if it pulls and to see the power wash and clean up.

I love vans. Great multiuse vehicles. I turned my Chevy van in a camper van and enjoy the great outdoors in it. Great video as usual. Look at those guns on Marge lol.
Change the filter, Add the fluid back And a can of trans x. Jack the rear up and put it on stands And let it run in forward and reverse for a bit. It worked with mine. I really enjoy your videos.
I’m curious if you jacked it up in the back and put it in gear and let it run through the gears if it would help get things moving in the trans. By no means am I saying that’s any kind of solution, sounds like your in the right track doing a fluid/filter change I’m just genuinely curious if it would do anything.
When I have a tire that is off the bead and it is not likely to be easy to reset the bead, I squirt some starting fluid in the tire and light it on fire and immediately start putting air in it. It works every time as long as the vehicle is jacked up. The wheel you picked up after moving the Mustang looked like a 68 or 69 Mustang or Torino GT wheel which are worth around $100 each if they are in decent condition. That cast iron automatic transmission is an FMX. They were a finicky transmission to work on but were reliable and smooth shifting transmissions.
Wow this seems to be a good one to play with. Im impressed by the carburetor starting right in ip like it did. Rocky sure knows how to get attention for his cookies 😂😂 It’s gonna look good when it’s cleaned up. Im guessing your dad needs to rebuild that tranny. What a great video! Cant wait to for the next step. Think that Rocky wanted to clean it haha. Sending Blessings to you and your family. Best family videos on UA-cam. We all ❤yun’s
@Sleeperdude when you were looking up the capacity of the C6 transmission I was saying out loud "13 quarts". I had a 1970 Ford F250 Camper Special that had the C6 in it and that one took 13 quarts on a full change with filter. 😊
good video thanks! Hey since it doesn't move, get it hot dump about 1/2 a cup of brake fluid in the trans and let it run a bit longer, then pull it in low gear not drive, see if it moves, nothing to lose if it don't work if it does work then do your fluid change! good luck, ready to see it get washed up by you guys! Merry Christmas!🎄
Nice find, I remember those brand new back in the day. With the back brake being froze, should've utilized your tractor to lift the back end up as it was being winched on the trailer to take some strain off your winch.
Now this is a perfect Sleeperdude video, that van is awesome And Tosh helping to carry that gearbox, not scared to get her hands dirty.....heck yes The kids did an awesome job, well done guys
I have done something similar to your winch trick, removing the Torque Rod Suspension from an L118 Gun/Howitzer. Those rods would not come out without much persuasion. We got 'em, eventually. Just gotta think outa the box sometimes.

FYI C6 transmissions REQUIRE Type F transmission fluid. The fluid you may be using might be to slippery/slick for the clutches in the C6.

Change the filter, Add the fluid back And a can of trans x. Jack the rear up and put it on stands And let it run in forward and reverse for a bit. It worked with mine. I really enjoy your videos.
new subscriber here, love your videos, they are really good sir, keep them coming
Thank you
The comalong on the brake drum was genius. The 460 is a good engine. Merry Christmas y'all!
I’m curious if you jacked it up in the back and put it in gear and let it run through the gears if it would help get things moving in the trans. By no means am I saying that’s any kind of solution, sounds like your in the right track doing a fluid/filter change I’m just genuinely curious if it would do anything.
👍
When I have a tire that is off the bead and it is not likely to be easy to reset the bead, I squirt some starting fluid in the tire and light it on fire and immediately start putting air in it. It works every time as long as the vehicle is jacked up. The wheel you picked up after moving the Mustang looked like a 68 or 69 Mustang or Torino GT wheel which are worth around $100 each if they are in decent condition. That cast iron automatic transmission is an FMX. They were a finicky transmission to work on but were reliable and smooth shifting transmissions.
Remind me next time, I see you to tell you the story of the van that I had like that that I named “the fish van“😂
🫣
Love it my grandfather had a blue and white van just like that 1980 we went everywhere in that van.
Incredible video once again folks. Love the interaction, if more families were like you the world would be a far better place.
Thank you I am definitely blessed
And the come along idea, that is awesome!!!
Thank you
One man's trash is another man's treasure love watching y'all getting those none running vehicles back up and running great job stay blessed 🙌🏾
Thank you
Think that treasure should be buried.
初めまして。
家族仲良しですね!
見ていて、とても心が和みました。
お父さんの子供対する接し方が素晴らしい!
Let’s go, my favorite UA-cam family!
Thank you
That trick with the come along, that's pretty slick!
Thank you
Wow this seems to be a good one to play with. Im impressed by the carburetor starting right in ip like it did. Rocky sure knows how to get attention for his cookies 😂😂
It’s gonna look good when it’s cleaned up. Im guessing your dad needs to rebuild that tranny. What a great video! Cant wait to for the next step. Think that Rocky wanted to clean it haha. Sending Blessings to you and your family. Best family videos on UA-cam. We all ❤yun’s
Yeah it surprised me to
@Sleeperdude when you were looking up the capacity of the C6 transmission I was saying out loud "13 quarts".
Had a van in high school don't let your kids have one adult things happen in vans😂
Absolutely love the intro and all the clips Ralphie is a gem and I love that you include the whole family involved in it
home from work suffering with the flu. At least I have some Sleeperdude Crew to cheer me up.
Hope you like it
Nice find, I remember those brand new back in the day. With the back brake being froze, should've utilized your tractor to lift the back end up as it was being winched on the trailer to take some strain off your winch.
This van is going to clean up real well.
Now this is a perfect Sleeperdude video, that van is awesome
And Tosh helping to carry that gearbox, not scared to get her hands dirty.....heck yes
The kids did an awesome job, well done guys
Thank you
I have done something similar to your winch trick, removing the Torque Rod Suspension from an L118 Gun/Howitzer. Those rods would not come out without much persuasion. We got 'em, eventually.
Just gotta think outa the box sometimes.
That’s right
