- Caoineadh na dTrí Mhuire (Lament of the Three Marys) is among the oldest (known, recorded) songs written in Irish. Though the original melody has been lost to time, this one has been around for quite a while and is known throughout the world! I think there is something of the ancient in it, as well as a timeless reverence and refreshingly raw humanity. There’s something really special about this story, now two thousand years old, being told in a language that’s even older. Wishing a Happy Easter & Holy Week to all who celebrate🕊️🎶✨

Thank you. I also really appreciate your explanation, translation and encouragements in your words on the videos. Thank you
This was heart-wrenching! Blessed be our Savior!
Beautiful song, and a fantastic voice.
Praise God
This was wonderful, great work👍
Remarkably performed Madelyn 😮🙌 beautiful vocals 💚😊 thank you for this.
Stunning, thank you. Seeing both the lyrics and the translation is awesome :)
Beautiful ❤❤❤
Bellissimo, prydferth iawn!
This is amazing.
Beautiful...sounds like it could only be written by somone who has lost a son or known that same loss
It's so surprising at how your delicate voice is accented by the droning sound of the musical instrument.
Thank you for the song 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 enjoy the rest of your weekend
Peter Apostle, have you seen my shining love? alas alack and woe is me.) great to hear this song again from you! Happy Easter!
Oh man, this is absolutely gorgeous. It will be on repeat for a while, I guarantee that. ❤ You are one of my favorite singers of all time. Absolutely heartbreaking in all the best senses of the word. Your voice is breathtaking.
Would you please consider doing a full cover of Amhrán Mhuínis? It is my all time favorite Celtic song, and I absolutely adore the little bit you did on the colab video with Malinda. I listen to that often.
Yes Ambrán Mhuínis! I heard a version recently on NTS that I just adored! From the early bird show with Maria Somerville in Galloway 13.2.2024. Starts around 27 minutes in. Please listen!
@@lucasmerker742 oh thank you! I can't wait! Have you heard Laídan's (possibly spelt that wrong, sorry 😅 I'm not Irish) version? It's typically the first search result when you plug in Amhrán Mhuínis. Or, Seamus and Caoime's version? They did it for Hight Tide's virtual music festival, at around the 15 minute mark in the song. If you're curious, let me know and I'll find the link for you.😊
ooo i love this
Beautiful! When is this from though, as Ireland was evangelized by Orthodox Christianity before the Catholic crusades. This time of Ireland being an early Christian (Orthodox) country was also when Gaelic Psalm Singing originated (mainly in Scotlamd though however). Don't know much about the intricacies myself but just interested as you say Ireland went from paganism to catholicism. I don't think many still talk about how Ireland was Orthodox for a while before they were Catholic and influenced by the catholic/latin music practices 😊
The church was the church His Church, and orthodox everywhere during first millennium. Then theology began to be distorted and the intellect respected more than the revelation which gave the Apostolic deposit of faith..... Saints like St Anthony the great were the spiritual predecessors of St Patrick...... They knew how to seek our Lord in fasting and prayer like the prophets of old.... They had genuine pure revelation...... Coz they understood our Lords words.... Blessed are the pure in heart..
It's a tragedy since and a cascade of theological confusion and lack of pure hearts to properly shepherd His Church..... God help us and have mercy
@@normadaly7506Amen! 🥰
I was going to say something very similar. maybe it's a coincidence but I came across this recording by chance today. It is the Orthodox Feast of The Myrrh Bearing Women. So much about this piece resonates with Orthodox spirituality and sensibility including the melodic structure with the harmonium drone resembling the Ison in Byzantine and Syrian sacred chant.
Oileán Thenerife,
An Spáinn,
An Afraic.
Bheadh an aithris seo aoibhinn álainn dá mbeadh na focail fuaimnithe i gceart inti, ach ní raibh, mo léan.
Cén fáth nár éist tú leis an leagan a rinne Seosamh Ó hÉanaí, mar shampla, agus na focail a rá mar an gcéanna leis-sean?
Le gach dea-ghuí,
Páirín Phádraig Thomáis.
Maith agat
Beautiful ❤❤❤
