Honestly, this game was a masterpiece, compared to CoD WWII. WaW was more historically accurate, CoD WWII was a huge devolution from WaW, it was nothing but shit.
Well I don't mind COD WWII. It's a descent game with a good campagin and I wouldn't say it's trash. Though to be fair, COD WAW does show the brutality of war more. To be true, I think both games are better than the games with only muliplayer because I'm a single player type guy
Now that I have looked at General Amsel's uniform closely on Reznovs character, I have realized that he has a sleeve chevron that denotes his rank is gefreighter which is essentially a private first class. And he wouldn't wear a political armband since he is also not part of the waffen SS. Not to mention that the sniper character is also wearing the m43 feldmutze which wasn't issued until after Stalingrad. And the MG42 was so rare in Stalingrad that it should not be portrayed. Its just weird that they let these things slide.
@@intelligenceagent6925 Thank you. That explains why its on the right arm and not the left. I haven't actually seen these portrayed at any reenactments I attend. I guess most of that has to do with the fact that no one in reenactments likes looking like they were nazi's before they came to power.
I think the point of this game wasn't to go for 100% historical accuracy. It was about fully immersing you in the time period with weapons, vehicles, and nationalities that we all associate with the war. In that respect, it fully delivers.
I wish this was a new campaign where your troops are actually speaking German and fighting the Russians. It still feels like your on the soviet side with the voices. Still cool though
Alternative timeline: Stalin becomes so paranoid over Hitler’s conquest of Europe that he decides to to prepare and launch a full scale invasion of Germany and it’s allies, breaking the Molotov-Ribbentrop pack. The Soviets manage to advance to the gates of Berlin but become very exhausted and are halted. The Germans launch a counteroffensive to push them away from Berlin and this causes the Soviets to attempt to attack South through Munich (German Stalingrad). The Soviets fail after five months in the city and never advance any further. Germany finally begins launching a massive counter offensive that takes them all the way into Soviet territory before they finally reach Moscow in 1945. The Soviets fight till the end in Moscow until Stalin in found and killed in action, bringing the battle to an end and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The one thing that would make this better are voice lines accurate to what side your playing. Even if your German, Reznov stills says things like “Come when you hear the screams of dying Germans”
Eh, that first mission is accurate. The Russians were just as brutal as the Germans. The Eastern Front was just fhe Nazis and the Soviets trying to out brutal each other.
Alternate timeline: The Germans managed to hold off allied and Soviet advances in Berlin long enough to reorganize their troops. They managed to get the upper hand and liberated Eastern Berlin from the soviets and began offensives to liberate the rest of Germany until they successfully invaded the USSR.
The Japanese mod was quite disappointing since they were just switched characters but no change in sound and language. But this one's quite convincing (not fully though, still because of the language) as Germans and Soviets were two equally ruthless factions during WW2. the modified Stalingrad mission is very convincing

We need to have a WWIII version of the WaW campaign where you play as the US Army fighting to liberate West Berlin circa 1985. We have most of the necessary assets already, T-72s, BMPs, M113s, Black Hawks, Apaches, Soviet Cold War infantry, M16A1s, and AK-47s (I know they used 74s from the 1970s onward, but 47s were still in use in the Soviet Army all the way to the end of the Cold War). All we would need is to reskin the M1 Abrams, M2 Bradley, and either Call of Duty 4 Marines or MW2 Rangers in Woodland camouflage.
The final end credits are frighteningly funny 😂 You just replaced the original soundtrack with the one from COD WW2 but it’s fine. It worked very well 😂

France and England, seeing the opportunity to defeat the Empire, invade Germany Okay, you got a scenario in which you fight for the Germans in a scenario similar to 1944. However, you are the good guy since France is fascist and England collaborates with it. (Any complaints about communists being the enemy are just political preferences)

The Chevron on the right arm is not a rank but a decoration worn mostly by members of the SS. It was the Honour Chevron of the Old Guard.
