So privileged to have owned and played this game and I won't even lie...I still play it today. Why? Because it's a masterpiece. It's uncensored in all its glory and still remains as one of the greatest WWII games ever made. Each mission, music, scenery dialogue and level design truly encapsulates the sheer brutality, horror, fear and chaos that was WWII and was not censored to hide the facts as the games are today. It felt more like a horror game than an action game because that's what WWII was....a real life horror story. A wonderful game and after all these years, I still proudly own my copy. Do yourself a favor, and play this game. You'll remember it forever.
This game is so dark, I can't help but love it. I remember beating this game at like 2 am on a school night and then the zombies cut scene happened. I ran to my moms room because it scared me. Times were much simpler back then.
Currently playing through this campaign again, plugged in my PS3 just to play it. Absolutely beautiful game, especially these sort of missions. Such an amazing game. Campaign, Multiplayer and the OG Zombies
The start of this campaing was honestly something way different to all the stuff you see in all the current Cods, the way it portrayed the brutality and darkness of those times is something that we have no chance or very low chances of seeing totally remastered or in a movie, hands down the best cod in existence
Hands down the best Cod ever made. I feel for the new generation who didn’t get to play this when it was first released. Also love the influence from enemy at the gates for this scene.
This game aged so well I think. One of the best COD campaigns ever made, and one of the best multiplayers too. To think this one gave us the legendary zombies mode too as an after credits easter egg! What a phenomenal game! So many good memories!
How we went from this to vanguard I’ll never know. Heck even the weapon mechanics were better back then. Imagine if the graphics were closer to mw 2019. Or bf1.
theres something just more special and enchanting about the outdated, old graphics that gives scenes like these a different feel compared to the overdone and dramatic graphics of today. it provides a different kind of charm, i think its best that this campaign stays like this
i would say forget about changing the graphics of WAW entirely, it's perfect even to this day. the atmosphere would be ruined had a new graphic engine kicked in.
This may be the single best opening cutscene/mission combo of all time. Transitioning from Reznovs speech describing the "brutality of their soilders" to seeing it play out in front of you is unlike anything cod had done before or has done since. Other than playing Nacht for the first time, seeing this fountain of death is the most memorable COD moment I've ever had.
I remember playing this campaign over and over and it is still to this day top tier. The beautiful story telling of the Americans storming the beaches, and the Russians fighting through the streets and alleyways. There was horrific moments like in the fountain surrounded by your dead comrades and that moment sticks cause you're forced to be there for a decent amount of time where there's no talking, no shooting, just you in puddles of blood and your dead friends. Not only was this game action packed but it really showed how disturbing war was in many different ways and lot of the time it was subtle.
@@osfama470 Скорее всего ты прав. Thank you so much for replaying the game! Today is exactly 80 years since the end of the Battle of Stalingrad. I myself am from Volgograd (former name was Stalingrad). That's just the wrong name. There was no 62nd Rifle Division in the Battle of Stalingrad, there was the 62nd Army under the command of Lieutenant General Chuikov. In memory of the exploits of this army, the central embankment of Volgograd is named, it is also the Embankment named after the 62nd Army.
Reznov is voiced by Gary Oldman, who won an Academy Award for Best Actor in his portrayal of Winston Churchill in 'The Darkest Hour'. Just let that settle in
Gary Oldman is fantastic as an actor, he’s just so versatile and always captures the character he plays. one of the best actors of the last 20 years for sure
This brings me back dudeeeeeee! The achievement for this game that gave me the hardest time was ending the mission by sniping the dude at the end with a pistol. Game was a masterpiece!

I completed the game when I was 10, seven years ago. As a 17 year old, the amount of lost memories this brought me is insane. I think it's time I play it again.
Such a shame no game will EVER be this grim again like how it used to be. People became soft and things like this will never be a thing ever again. It is only a burning memory, even the mission in MW2 when you were ghilid up and had to sneak through the woods and the tall grass as tanks and men pass you.
"Dimitri we thought you were among the dead in the massacre at the square!" "He was. among them, but not one of them." His lines just always would hit different and I dont know why
Some may frown at this in todays world, but things were different when I grew up playing this franchise; I can remember being 10-12years old, playing through this campaign for the first time…as a child, I would act as one of the soldiers and converse back and forth with Reznov and other main characters to really immerse myself in these famous battles. This mission is especially one of my favs ever; because of the close resemblance to a film called “Enemy at the Gates.” It’s sad the players of today in my opinion will never truly get that “Hype/Immersion” feeling of today’s CODs, because when these games came out EVERYONE wanted to play.
One of the best games ever created. I played it as a child and it's the only game, that has always stayed with me. I love its realism and sinister atmosphere. It's not the kind of game, you have fun playing, but it's truly intense and makes you reflect afterwards.
This game was such a masterpiece from the music, dialogue, atmosphere, gameplay and story. It’s such a shame this game was never brought back as a remaster.
Жаль, что Резнов не дожил до наших дней и погиб в Воркуте. Я бы с ним с удовольствием выпил водки! А если серьёзно, то этого героя очень не хватает в последующих частях в русских компаниях. Культовый персонаж!

The early call of duty games did such a good job of making you feel like auch a small, tiny, helpless, insignificant part of a giant, chaotic battle. I loved that about them. Really got away from the hero complex most games seem to have.
This game got me through 8th grade(the single worst year of my school life). The multi-player was so intense and exhilarating plus missions with Reznov were so engaging and tactical.

Like I was the one playing. Now when I explain this intro to people they think im talking about a movie, I wish I could go back & play these games at their peak again
Growing up my mum never let me play CoD games, but my dad did and this was one of his favourites and one he insisted I should play. I think understand why.
The switch in tone is amazing, going from running around with a bazooka, flamethrower and a grenade launcher while the Japanese are in the trees, in the grass running at you with bayonets. Then you go to this, massacres, going into buildings to avoid German patrols that’ll burn you if they find you, a single shot can alert any patrol in the area.
Single player campaign with voice acting from Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland was fucking awesome! Back when these games actually cared about single player.
The good old days of call of duty. I remember when the first one dropped and this franchise eventually took over everything especially after cod4 dropped, it even outshined medal of honor which was the first world at War game that blew up for ps1 and 2...sheesh I'm getting old.

Facts
If you’ve ever played the opening of this mission without the music it’s so eerie because of how silent and realistic it is, I love it
The start of this campaing was honestly something way different to all the stuff you see in all the current Cods, the way it portrayed the brutality and darkness of those times is something that we have no chance or very low chances of seeing totally remastered or in a movie, hands down the best cod in existence

Or bf1.
theres something just more special and enchanting about the outdated, old graphics that gives scenes like these a different feel compared to the overdone and dramatic graphics of today. it provides a different kind of charm, i think its best that this campaign stays like this
@@kiyoraka3537 A hybrid of the two would be interesting I think: the grittiness of the old with the tech of the new.
i would say forget about changing the graphics of WAW entirely, it's perfect even to this day. the atmosphere would be ruined had a new graphic engine kicked in.
Activision that's why
World at war and Black Ops 1 have the best story telling and grittiness in any COD game. Legendary games.
Imagine that you are in the middle of the controlled area, only you and a soldier from your battalion, oh my god, I was dying in a heartbeat.
One of the best missions in Cod. Still gives me chills just like how I played it back in the days...
Imagine what it must have been like for real
amen fuck the war
God I can’t imagine how shitty it would be to crawl through those dead bodies. The stench alone would suck.
If smell could be transmitted through speakers, everyone would vomit
no amount of money would make me crawl through that fountain
Demetri would have likely passed away from the tanks missile launcher or maybe even gotten major brain damage.

The music the visuals. This mission alone had more meaning than the games they put out now. Like you actually truly wanted to help Reznov get payback.
This brings me back dudeeeeeee! The achievement for this game that gave me the hardest time was ending the mission by sniping the dude at the end with a pistol. Game was a masterpiece!

I was 15 when this came out perfect time for a young man that loves war history
Some may frown at this in todays world, but things were different when I grew up playing this franchise; I can remember being 10-12years old, playing through this campaign for the first time…as a child, I would act as one of the soldiers and converse back and forth with Reznov and other main characters to really immerse myself in these famous battles. This mission is especially one of my favs ever; because of the close resemblance to a film called “Enemy at the Gates.” It’s sad the players of today in my opinion will never truly get that “Hype/Immersion” feeling of today’s CODs, because when these games came out EVERYONE wanted to play.
We can blame corporate greediness for that
Kids today don’t know a good cod game. Wow, black ops 1. Modern warfare 2 are the best three imo. Wow and bo1 had the best campaigns though.
This is the remaster we need. People put a lot on cod 4 setting the tone, but WoW was just of a launchpad as this one. Back to back 🔥
One of the best games ever created. I played it as a child and it's the only game, that has always stayed with me. I love its realism and sinister atmosphere. It's not the kind of game, you have fun playing, but it's truly intense and makes you reflect afterwards.
One of the greatest CoD missions of all time.
This game goes so hard on its ability to transfer those cold heart emotions portraying war, everything is so brutal, bleak, and ultimately sad.

Amazing game! My all time favourite COD game.
Single player campaign with voice acting from Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland was fucking awesome! Back when these games actually cared about single player.
