    As a drone enthusiast I am very interested in the adventure - however as a refugee from Varosha who has not been able to visit his house for 44 years, I am even more interested in seeing the footage from the Phantom as you have definitely flown over my neighbourhood. To you it's just a bunch of buildings, for us it's our homes our businesses, our schools, our uncle's home, the playground I learned to ride a bike and so much more. Keep doing what you're doing Peter but please MORE FOOTAGE ....

      I think we need to setup a fund for Peter to buy some more equipment and not to have to rely on an old Tablet but get him a Crystalsky monitor so he can see what he is looking at, He needs that support - any Famagusta people want to donate to get him one for the next visit to Cyprus ?

    Antenna polarisation is very important. If the drone is configured for vertical antenna and you have the antenna flat and horizontal your range will be dramatically shortened. I guess you already know this though

    Wow this was super interesting to watch! Great video Peter. I could have flown that mission with one of my fixed wing birds pretty easily, running Dragonlink V3 with either a Vector or Pitlab flight controller. The tricky part would be taking off and landing but with my setup I could launch from farther away. I agree with you about the Mavic being better for this mission as well.

    Great video! I think inside the building the tablet GPS does not know where you are. Instead it is starting to make assumptions, and give GPS locations which may be hundreds of meters around real location, and keeps changing. Now, litchi has a dynamic home point feature, which constantly changes the home point based on the random GPS location that the tablet produces. And the drone rth to there. That is what I think.

    • @Steve-Cross
      @Steve-Cross 6 років тому +1

      Rob Simpson. I have seen other guys using Litchi and have said it is always best to launch the DJI GO App and start the drone before opening Litchi. Once the drone is calibrated and ready to fly you can close the Go App and open Litchi. I must stress I don't use Litchi myself, so what I have been lead to believe may well be wrong, but you can have both the apps on the same device.

    Hi Peter,
    I was using the litchi app a few months ago with my phantom.
    I'd been using the waypoint feature numerous times without any problems. One afternoon I planned a route about 8km round trip, this time though I used the feature that will focus on a poi and variated the speed and height along the route .
    Unfortunately it didn't return home and the litchi find my drone said it was only 500meters away which wasn't correct.
    I didn't find the phantom in the place it said and I've not found it anywhere.
    I think that litchi has some sort of bug affecting the flights as what happened with your phantom has similarity to mine
    All the best

    • @TheLandbo
      @TheLandbo 6 років тому

      I fly a Litchi mission at least once every two weeks and have never had any problems. It's with both my P4A and Mavic Pro.
      Peter did wrong where he took control of the RTH and flew too far manually. Had he just let the P4P even manage the RTH trip home it was landet where he take off. Peter said, however, he had so much delay in the picture that it was to blame. However, Peter can help himself by purchasing a modern Android tablet with an 8 core CPU and a clock freq. of at least 2 Ghz.

    • @jefrona257
      @jefrona257 6 років тому

      Peter usually use a Shield K1 tablet which is more than fast enough for the job plus it is the only tablet with a screen recording software built into the ROM and featuring 30fps at 1080p. This mean that his drone software is not slowed down by the use of a screen recording program loaded in the RAM. On the above video he wanted to use Litchi which was already installed on his older Samsung tablet. And is a paid program.

    • @TheLandbo
      @TheLandbo 6 років тому

      Yes, but Peter used his old Samsung tablet on this trip which apparently not can handle Litchi anymore, which I actually find strange. It's no matter that Litchi is a buying program, because you are allow to use it on all the tablets/phones you own. I actually have my Litchi installed on 3 tablets.
      That vidh the screen recorder on the Shield K1 tablet is not true, because my newest Lenovo tablet actually has a built-in screen recorder as well.
      No, Peter needs more control over the technical if he wants to play spy. ;-)

    • @jefrona257
      @jefrona257 6 років тому

      @@TheLandbo : thanks for the info about your Lenovo tablet having a ROM based screen capture program. What is the exact model of your Lenovo tablet?

    • @TheLandbo
      @TheLandbo 6 років тому

      I think you have misunderstood that with the screen recorder program. It's not in ROM but is part of the package that many Android phones/tablets come with.
      My Lenovo tablet is a TAB4 10 PLUS LTE with an 8 core CPU and 4GB RAM (Lenovo TB-X704L). The Shield K1 use a 2.2 GHz 4 core CPU and has only 2 GB RAM. Sorry to say that but today the Shield K1 is near a relic from the past. ;-(

    Man, you consistently work against yourself don't you! On such a mission, you use a tried and true tablet. Never ever have anything in line that hasn't been used recently and proven to work without issue. It's also best to takeoff in the dji app and then close completely out of it and go into litchi. What's very concerning is the Titan antenna system. Having to remove the booster? That's completely not good. Your videos with the Titan gear has done more for me holding back the purchase than any other. If you need some separation from the drone using the booster, how much do they recommend? It looked like you had plenty of separation. I question if you were in 5.8 again. How you forget that detail really makes me wonder at this point, lol. I want you to have no fail flights but wow, you never do. And yet, you get the drone back, lol. I would never have that much luck with that much trouble! Good luck in the future.

I have both and was very reluctant I'm getting the iPad as I hate the Apple brand but it's a game changer for flying DJI products. Battery life is incredible, bright screen, the app works so much better and is better designed. Even things like having the histogram on all the time where as on my Android devices I always have to go into settings every time and turn the histogram off the back on again....come on Peter treat yourself and get an iPad mini 4 with sim card slot and you won't regret it. Sorry to say that fighter or bomb pilot you will never be Peter. Each time you fly i trips over enemy country you expose your residence by flying high and at the same route out and back again. You also need more control of the technical side of your flight.
    I hope nothing will happen to you on your next missions. ;-)

    For God Shake. Please, buy an Apple device to have a reasonable control view of your Phantom. I know you are more Android like and PC user, but please, make us a favor, and help yourself as well: Go Apple and throw away these old pieces of Android garbage you are still using. You’ve only had problems with these tablets 🙄
