Rob Arnold 2020: "Anyways, when you turn it up, it sounds better" true words.
nice vid!
I've been playing guitar for 15 years. Rob, I gotta say that your sound and chimaira helped shaped my sound and how I play. Sad as fuck to not hear new music but grateful you have a UA-cam channel. So, basically I just wanted to say thank you for being a huge influence on me. But most importantly, being a sick ass guitar player.
Those riffs from impossibility of reason got me to stop playing around with my guitar and got me serious about it when i was a teen. For me chimaira and Rob's playing was the most inspiring thing ever. I remember jamming the album on repeat always trying to nail all my favorite songs shit was my after school ritual. Thanks for the great music im not the best at guitar but i learned a lot of cool shit from you. 🤘🤘
The definitive album for me. Groove laden and heavy as fuck. Reminds me of good times
Yep, me too. From that point and listening to Machine Head's Burn My Eyes, I started taking riffing seriously. Rob Arnold is just a monster when it comes to riffing.
Man those riffs just take me back to every Chimaira show I went to over the years. We would stand gripping the guard rail on the front row waiting for Chimaira to play. It was like being on another planet as you guys ripped through song after song. I truly lost my mind every single time and when it was over, just sat in a state of disbelief of what I had just witnessed. Best times ever.
Whatever reason anyone can give why those riffs arent being heard live around the world in front of thousands of people.......it aint good enough. Chimara deserves to live!
How did this barely come across my feed. I remember when I was a young, new, and broke AF drummer and yet the main person I always watched when my brother and I rocked out to chimaira was Rob Arnold. I remember always telling myself I want to learn guitar and play like him. Thanks for all the years of amazing music Rob. Love your riffs man. I was literally just blasting chimaira in my car at the car wash last night. Lol
Haha that's awesome Bryan! I never thought I'd be a dude that other dudes wanted to play like. 🙏
Cheers and please explore my channel as there's a TON of stuff here I know you'll love!🤘

Love the tone and the riffs SO MMMMUUUCCCHH, Rob!!! All hail Chimaira! \m/
Awesome video, dude. I hope to see y’all back on the road killing it again. The worlds missing some of that amazing live music
This was really badass Rob! Thanks 🤘🤘🎸
The riffs on this album man 🤘
Just a flawless and timeless record!
Thanks for all the tips on setting up an amp. I’ve been a chimaira fan forever. Killer riffs .
Great vid Rob !... this clears up a lot of questions I've had about metal guitar tones...I remember seeing Chimaira at the Vic theater in Chicago with Soilwork and InFlames...killer show
Thanks for the vid, you're one of my all time favorite guitarists🤘
Absolutely amazing man! Thank you!
I remember meeting you after a show in 09. I straight up asked if this was all you used, because I couldn’t believe it. And you were like “Yup check it out!“ and brought your whole rig over. I was floored haha 🤘
This is gold. Thanks Rob!
The quality of this album is still to this day top notch!!! That guitar tone is Epic!!
I love the tone on Impossibility, Rob! That's my favorite Chimaira record.
I’m so glad I got to see y’all in lafayette LA. I didn’t know then that y’all would be one of my favorite bands of all time
Heck yea chimaira the impossibility of reason has so much power and aggression. One of my favorites. Always has been always will be!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Most listened album overall for me. 17 years later and still powerful. Thank you for doing this video.
Dude, thanks for this video! 🤘
This is it! The one we've been waiting bois! The perfection in one single video! Thank you, Rob, for putting your heart out for us! \m/
God do I miss seeing them live, followed Chimaira for many many years. Much love from Boston
thank you Rob for sharing this with us...!...:)
Glad to see this dudes still jammin. I listen to chimaira all the time still, but Christmas just hasn't been the same since they haven't been active 😥. THANKS FOR THE VID ROB!!!!
You are seriously one of the coolest, dude. Thanks for creating such great content. Impossibility of Reason and Resurrection were my JAMS back in the day and I still rock to em from time to time.
Awesome riffs, killer tone, great video
The Impossibility Of Reason was one of the most influential for me, such a solid record, thank you so much
Always love getting the new vid notification from Rob Arnold World!!! Another great one Rob!! 🤘🏼🤨
OMG !! My dream comes true ! All my favorites riffs, and how sounds well for it ! I play them every day !
Thanks a lot Rob 🙏👌🤘
Killer video Rob - thanks for sharing.
Great tones to be had with a 6505 and an EMG81!
Been looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint mate! Watching you play the intro I forgot how much fun your riffs are to play.... guess I know what I’m doing today!! Would love to see more chimaira play throughs and break downs!!! Catch you soon Rob
Hear me out.....Rob Arnold and Josh Middleton (Sylosis). Could we handle that much badassedness?
Aaaaaah.. Those riffs i grew up with. Awesome!
Been a fan of the band for awhile and just stumbled upon your channel. Love the content and appreciate you taking the time. Rock on, brother.
Classic set up with the 6505 and Mesa! That ISP decimator is an absolutely great noise gate, as well!
Love my 6505+. It's quickly becoming my most played larger amp. Interesting you don't use a boost. Love the tone and can't wait to give your settings a test drive on my rig at home. Thanks Rob!
This was an extremely informative video. Thank you! You've always been one of my favorite guitarists and your tone is SICK!
AWESOME - JUST AWESOME
Ive bee nwaiting for this video forever lol.. Chimaira guitar sound always been one of my faves so its great to have a point of reference this detailed.. Thanks Rob! Also i truly hope we see Chimaira back on the road soon, one of my top 5 all time bands.. I miss you guys. Stay Safe Rob and thanks for the music and these videos! \m/
Excellent video, thanks
Everything is well explained
Stay safe and take care all 🙏🏻
Your Band is awesome! I have been a fan since I was in high school.
I love that tone dude 🤘 in my 20s i tried so hard to chase that tone with like a super poor mans budget lol u guys were great inspiration!!
Damn those riffs bring back memories, you guys created some of the most memorable riffs to date!!
I'll second that, Rob and Chimaira are some of my music inspirations from my teen years \,,/
This is really helpful for people like me who don't have a great deal of knowledge or gear. Im going dor this sort of tone using ML studios which are based on Peavey amps and this helped alot. Thanks
super helpful man! thanks :)
The Impossibility of Reason is the album that restored my faith in metal. I remember my first time listening to this album and immediately getting the feeling that something was happening and it was going to be great. I still can't believe how lucky I was to have such an amazing soundtrack to my college years.
I just looked you up the other day to see what you were running. Thanks for the update.
Hey Rob. Since I first heard you guys, I was hooked on that classic Peavey tone. Every band I was in, Pictures was my sound check riff. I still use a 5150 II to this day. Thanks for making great music for us!
God, I remember buying my first ESP, tuning to Drop C, and learning all those riffs you were playing. I still play Cleansation & Powertrip to this day. Awesome work Rob, Chimaira will always be one of my fave bands!
I remember buy IOR on release day (being a huge fan of the first album) and hearing Pictures in the Gold Room and literally just thinking it was the heaviest thing ever. A really important album in my metal life, so thanks for that. It's really awesome that you're doing videos now, 17 years later, talking about it! I was 15 when i first heard it and i still hold it in high regard.
Awesome man! And I can only do these vids because dudes like you are watching! 🤘
Amazing tone, Rob 🤟🏻💪🏻
Man, what I wouldn't give to jam with this guy! Chimaira has been such a huge inspiration on durring my 20 years of playing guitar. Caught many new years eve shows too!
i flew from north dakota to cleveland and met up with my cousin and went to see you guys do a home show at peabodys on march 31 2006. life time memory
Dude I fucking love watching this show old or new it dosent matter. I think you present yourself well. I think it's hella cool that your just a dude doing his thing, no big deal. Your style I find pretty easy to understand and stuff makes sense neatly. I find myself learning without effort.
I full on appreciate your approach. The information just flows.
Also, I hella love Chimaira. They have been one of my favorites for years. Rock on Brother
Thanks so much Hutch! I really appreciate all of that! Thanks for tuning in man!🤘
I feel like I'm watching a video with the equipment and music from 10-15 years ago with modern day production. The 6505 was my first tube amp and was a total workhorse - this was a quintessential "Guitar World Magazine" rig back in the day!
Thanks for the video and the nostalgia, Rob!
Ive been on a hunt for a new amp and I’ve been coming back to this video for over a week now. I finally did it, I ordered a Peavy 6505 and it should be here in two days. Thanks Rob!
THE PICTURES IN THE GOLDDDDDDDDDDDDDD ROOM \M/! #CHIMAIRACHRISTMAS15 #GOOSEBUMPS
That's one of my favorite song ever! I thought it was such a great blend of everything I grew up listening to. Just a masterpiece.
You know what, your guitar sound and overall Chimaira's sound quality is a masterpice. Especially on Resurrection album, so it is my reference record when I check some new Hi-Fi gear. Big respect for that. You guys are truly legends. Hope to see you live someday.
My all-time favorite guitar tone from my all-time favorite guitar player
Love it!! been using a slight variation of your sound swiped off the Chimaira DVD lol...thanks bud. Sinocence, Belfast, Ireland \m/
Riff Arnold!
This was excellent.
Rob Arnold was a huge inspiration to me when I was a teen. I miss Chimaira.
Dude watching your play throughs makes it easier to get through these shitty days, which is also why ive been listening to a lot of Chimaira lately. On a side note, id love to see a video of you and DeVries ripping through some Chimaira songs together!
I got the same head!!! Peavey 6505+ and just recently acquired a Laney cab.... Hell ya.... I love em!!!
That sounds so tight and good. I can’t believe there is no tube screamer going into the amp. Crushing!!
Liam Edwards the plus model lead channel doesn’t need the boost to tighten it
Man I've been trying to figure out that pattern for Pure Hatred for a while. Glad to hear it isolated!
I never get tired of watching this video, and Rob I’m beyond excited I finally got my 6505+ head and a good deal on Mesa recto oversized standard cab loaded with V 30’s!!!!!! Sorry just had to share this can barely contain the excitement!
That guitar tone is so incredible.
I had the same set up over here in Oz for a while and I just felt it was missing ‘something’. I saw that a few bands with 6505’s were using Maxon 808 OD pedals in the chain so I went out and bought one and never looked back. The subtle increase in the sounds of attack on palm muted strings was simply superb. Love the content mate, been into you guys for 16yrs, hoping Chimaira makes a comeback sometime soon 🤘🤘
6505 or 6505+? 6505's need a boost sometimes due to their much flubbier low end. The + version is much tighter.
You were the reason I bought my first tube amp, a Peavey 5150 in 2004. Still sounds killer!
Excelent music and player! Back Chimaira!!!
Hey Rob! Derek here from Rock Solid Amps way back in the day! Glad to see your still doing what you love most! Keep it up hope to meet up with you again someday!
What's up Derek! Good to hear from you man! Cheers and hope you're well man!👊
Great insight once again! 👌
I feel I never really get to the point where I dig the way I'm dialed in, but it really does make a huge difference if I double track anything and give it a listen. Then it really comes to life and I can tell if I like it or if it still needs some fine tuning.
Oh yeah man.. once that second guitar comes into the picture and you pan em out wide, everything starts to sound great🤘🎸
Glad you showed that picture of Tony, guy is a wizard! Worked with him at Spiders when you guys were working on impossibility, Love Chimaira. Love that record, still jam it on the regular! Great stuff man!!
That glorious sounds from that 6505! It sounds chunky and great!
This is very cool to me dude. I learned all the songs of Impossible, a few off Resurrection and a bunch of infection. I tried for quite a long time to mimic your sound. After years I finally got it using a Line 6 Crunchtone with a Peavy Bandit 112 and EMG pickups. You were always a big inspiration and always wrote killer riffs that were challenging and fun to play. Now I'm old.
Thanks for the tips, I have a 5150 peavey, I will test these settings tomorrow, in May I will record a song and I hope to get a good sound this time.
Absolutely badass brutal tone!!!!!!
I was so pleased when I came across this video, I've recently got hold of a 6505 after my rig went down right before a gig the other night. I searched "peavey 6505 crunch tones" and this video came up. I've been banging on for years how the impossibility of reason has my absolute favorite guitar tone (also why I fell in love with drop C) and now I've found a video showing me exactly how to get it with the equipment I actually own! It's worth the stress of the old rig dying ;)
Keep shredding Rob!🤘
Awesome. I’ve got a Peavey 6505 plus going into a Mesa 2x12 v30 and the tone is so heavy. One of my favorite albums, The Impossibility of Reason. Love the vids. Thanks for showing.
Mark just filled in for Randy on a Lamb of God show, so far the only vocalist to rock the stage.. I NEED CHIMAIRA BACK!!!!! you guys are my absolute fav band.
Great video Rob. More like this if there's any more to cover.
Crazy how you don't use too many pedals to still have such a clean sound. Love the distortion 🤘😁
Cool to hear some of the old riffs again, Resurrection is an amazing album, I think Six is an absolute masterpiece.
You guys were booked to play at the venue I used to work at in Colchester, UK but had to cancel, you returned at a later date but by then it was only Mark left. Was looking forward to meeting you and Andols, he is a sick drummer, love his groove
Cheers man! I agree about Andols. Check out episode 03 of my Everything You Love show if you haven't already!🤘
Damn bro... I couldn’t hit the subscribe button enough times!! Great channel, content. Look forward to other vids
The impossibility of reason is literally one of the greatest metal albums ever made!
Hard agree. That record lived in my cd player pretty much throughout high school
@@gerrybegnoche1561 tell me about it bro. I was in my 20s by then, but throughout my time in the service to college that was my jam!
The tone, the drums, the riffs, the blues, the everything. Rob’s always created incredible guitar sounds, but I’ll never forget being 17 years old leaving circuit city with IOR and jamming it at full volume in the car in the parking lot from front to back. Implements of Destruction is STILL my go-to when I’m around non-metal heads that give me music privileges for a song. It’s also really good money spent at a jukebox. 13 minutes for .50 cents? Take my goddamn money.
10/10 no skip album
Yauup
