I can't do acoustic treatment since I'm a renter, but I've gotten to know my room 14x20ft with angled upper walls since 2018. I've learned that there is a 3.5db bass build up and just compensate for it when mixing demos. Rob is 💯 correct in his experience. Get to know your listening environment and monitors! Thanks for sharing your knowledge Rob. Hope you had a killer time on the boat trip! 🤘❤️🤘
real example of unacceptable room acoustics: recently got a pair of rokit 10-3's which are pretty big. i set them up upstairs in the dining room to check them out and brought up a couple of synths to flex the rokits bottom end. i'm used to my large basement which is set up for minimal resonance, so it about sat me down when i hit a low f# and the volume was easily 5-6db louder than all the other notes. parallel walls accentuate that particular wavelength. something else to note for dead room treatment is CANCELLATION. certain wavelengths can be cancelled for the same reason if the room is echo-ey which really throws the sound balance out of whack. .
Cool Dan! Shoot me a message on Patreon detailing more about what you mean regarding my, "voice over process". I'm happy to explain anything and everything! And perhaps our discussion will lead to a video on the topic!
Use a lazer to point from your monitors to mark out good spots where you want to put your treatments then experiment from there. I think bass traps work the best in corners and behind monitors. Also the placement of your monitors will alter your playback and maybe falsify your rooms actual recorded sound. Sorry if I worded that badly lol. Cool to know I had the same placement ideas as Rob though

If you’re mixing music for a living the acoustic condition of the room is the most important thing !!! Otherwise do what ya want
Very interesting video Rob!
