You could buy a bootleg cassette tape of this concert at Boogie Records on Michigan Ave. in Kalamazoo for fifteen bucks right after it was recorded. I spent so much money there in the early 80's that the manager turned me on to tons of bootleg sources.
One of my top faves. I remember this on 4 ever repeat driving down PCH 1, early AM in Big Sur on my way to Monterey with the top down. Joyful exhilaration! I have seen Pat several times since then, but the music is not the same without Lyle Mays. 😢
Pmg really were sparkling and supremely talented , this carried on until Lyle departed , them.the magic faded. You dont know what you've got till it's gone?
1:23 What's wrong with the sound? I sometimes see Pat sending a signal to the staff like that during the concert, but I can't hear any difference before and after.
It was right before Offramp came out. I saw this tour in the fall of 1981 in Columbus. I know in the early 80s they came through Columbus at least 2 more times, at least once in Dayton and at least 2 times in Cleveland. I caught all of the shows I could which was difficult to do pre-internet.
Pat, the poet of the strings.
Crazy talent..😮
Lyle's solo, those lines starting around 4:28 - O.M.G. He's beyond time and space
Best Hair band of the 80s
90's +
The talent on that stage is overwhelming.

UA-cam took it down
Someone posted it on Twitter. I just listened to it and it’s absolutely stellar! The buildup from chorus to chorus is amazing

It was probably his monitor. That’s why you can’t notice a difference.

Is this the off-ramp tour? I saw him up in Dayton but I think it was 82.

Who is that bass player? And OMG, hearing the bass on San Lorenzo ... OMG
Steve Rodby
@@pietronavetta9203 Thanks, but some tell me Mark Egan? Maybe they're mistaking dates and pressings.
@@Bill_Woo From the same date ua-cam.com/video/q3aco4dHuyk/v-deo.html Can't absolutely certain but the bass player looks a lot like Steve Rodby
It’s definitely Rodby
Top! Who's the percussion-player?
Naná Vasconcelos, musico brasileiro!

@@jgermanop Nano!! Saw this tour in Dayton. Might have been 1982. The off-ramp tour. Fantastic.
Where in Kalamazoo was this recorded?
Guessing the State Theater on Burdick-all the hipster acts play there...but again, just a guess...
This was at Miller Auditorium. Still have the ticket stub.
@@hankluvsdagny Same here - my first PMG show...for $7.50
I was there- 2nd row center. It’s SO awesome that you posted this! It was a hugely important concert for me as a young musician- thank you!!
@@larrylowis7814 That's so cool!
Thanks for this gem; the sound is surprising good! BTW, I have uploaded a solo piano version of this great tune here on UA-cam - check it out :-)
