  • In this tutorial, I show the entire air layer process from start to finish. Air layering is a fantastic way of propagating those hard-to propagate trees and plants such as Citrus and Loquat, as in this example.
I have another video, which I'll link below showing g how I remove a rooted Air layer from the baggy, which can be tricky unless you've seen it done. I'll link it below.

THANKS FOR SHARING!!! 🌳🌳THAT'S HOW I TYPICALLY AIR LAYER ALSO 😊 EXCEPT I USED POWDER ROOTING; SEEMS THAT HALF THE GARDENERS USE POWDER AND THE OTHER HALF USES THE GEL OR LIQUID 😂🙋🏽‍♀️🔥🙏🏾👑✝️📖🔥

My air layers on my loquats heal over. What am i doing wrong? I scrap the bark away and apply hormone. After several months, the scrapped area has healed and no roots have formed. Help!!!

If they are healing over without rooting, the most likely issue is that the green cambium layer underneath the bark is not being scraped away completely. Once you remove the bark, use your knife to scrape the entire bit around the cut so that the wood is clean and free of the green cambium.
I hope that helps. Keep me posted on how it works out for you. Thanks for watching!

@Desert Gardens Homestead I am in phoenix. Can i talk to you about the burmuda grass? My yard is full of it, and I'm debating on putting mulch down. Are you on IG?

@Mike Fix IG? Depending on your yard size, working with Bermuda versus against it can make life so much easier. I used to battle it by sheet mulching, and it would always come back. Granted, I have 2 acres, but then I began practicing natural farming and learned Bermuda is jam-packed with nutrients for a chop and drop, making fermented teas, leaf mold, compost, etc. It also helps attract and hold onto precious dew when we hit the dew point. The rhizomes constantly add sugars into the soil, and it's a phenomenal living mulch. It dies back in the winter and feeds the soil. Did I mention it's medicinal and an excellent fodder? I have learned to love it and use it as an integral part of my system. I don't buy that it robs nutrients, and water, exactly opposite in my experience. Here to help you.

Not sure I'm comfortable giving out my number. I am willing to answer any questions via the comments though.

@@DesertGardensHomestead when putting mulch down in the tree wells, does all the burmuda grow through it? Or is it just some of it?
