There many relatively simple UI enhancements that I would love to have.
    1. Font size control. There is plenty of room for larger fonts. (what other devices lack font size adjustment?)
    2. Alerts. Similar to the font issues Alerts pop in the lower left corner and are hard to read, especially when one should be looking out at the road. Larger and near the top of the screen (optionally) would be much safer.
    3. Turn signal video. Similar to 2, the lower left corner is the worst location. My hand/arm blocks view the video and it could easily be much larger. The S has it in center lower screen area which is a little better. How about optional size and location?
    4. At least on my 22 M3LR, there streaming (Slacker) service often has login issues that usually cannot resolve without stopping and later resuming another leg of the trip.
    5. Today the FM radio was having real issues with a local station while not even moving. (I switched to radio only because of 4.)
    6. It really sad the the console USB connections are power only.

I would pay a Grand for Auto Lane Change in a heartbeat. The lane change "warning" now implemented works well, to inform you that you have just sideswiped a car in the adjacent lane.

A yes for ventilated seats and better suspension for sure - HUGE yes! The 360 view should not be part of AP or FSD. The hardware is there, they just need to update the software. This is a feature included on many, many cars that cost less than the Model Y and should be standard. It would be pretty sh*tty for them to add it only to packages costing $6K and $12K. The other thing I would like to see is the global headlights with projectors added to all Model Ys. They're included on all other Teslas at this point, including the less expensive Model 3, and now that adaptive headlights are finally legal in the US there's no reason not to include them.

Excellent set of features. The ones I want most are ventilated seats, blind spot indicators on the side mirrors, and a smoother suspension to keep my wife happy. An instrument binnacle in front of the driver would be a nice addition. Making stop light/ stop sign control (or at least a warning) standard would be a great safety feature. Even if they can't do an up/down powered Frunk, they could do a simple update to a powered latch mechanism that allows users to close it lightly & the lock cinches it down into place. Lincolns & Cadillacs had rear trunk lids doing this back in the 90s and it's a pretty simple feature. Having to close your frunk 'in a special way' seems silly on a $60k+ car. Just drop the hood down & let the lock do the work to close it all the way. It's frustrating to hand wash your car, then get palm prints on the front because you can only close the frunk like you're pushing a child on a park swing.

If you run out of juice another tesla can lend you some range. Eliminating the REFERRAL program; HUGE MISTAKE. i have sold 15 cars to friends who only bought because of me. They often require many hours of handholding after the purchase although for some this is zero. Elon thanks his employees and suppliers but never thanks his loyal followers who are 99% responsible for all Tesla sales. Even though getting a few superchargers miles as a gift is worth only $50 that very cheap to secure a sale. Give credit for Tesla store and hand out T-shirts saying “I sold 10 Teslas” or what ever but Tesla turning their backs on their loyal fans is irksome and unfair. Tesla must never forget they’re drinking from a well of sales created mostly by our word of mouth. I have personally given over 100 demo drives just because I believe in Tesla’s vision and purpose but feel snubbed and taken for granted.
Don’t listen to bean counters who see referral as a waste of money but rather as Tesla’s future. Sure, Tesla has more sales than they can handle now but they will need customer support down the road so don’t burn that bridge!

What about HomeLink? Its standard on all if not most cars. Many of the features you mentioned are standard with a $67K car, so why can't Tesla also do the same? I think its all about the margins!! As I have written before, now that people are willing to pay $66K for a MY, why would Tesla bring the price down and make less money on this model. They will eventually add another model which will be their opening price point car - perhaps $35K to $40K.

One simple change would make a world of difference…… bring back silver as a paint color. It’s one of the most popular car colors and Tesla offered it years ago…..Come on, this would be a no brainer for Tesla. If necessary, delete the least popular color (blue?) and replace it with silver. Who wouldn’t love that?

Tesla needs to include cargo tie-down straps in the Model Y. This is a safety feature that comes standard in almost all SUVs. Not being able to securely fasten cargo down makes them flying missiles in the event of an accident that can severely injure or kill people inside the vehicle. It's surprising that Tesla does not have this safety feature in all their vehicles.

Bidirectional charging requires expensive home mounted equipment. A bare minimum should be that Tesla installs several 110v/20A outlets throughout the car. 1 or 2 in each of the passenger compartment, trunk, and frunk only make sense. An additional outlet on the outside, maybe under the charging port cover, would be useful also. It’s unreasonable to have all of this energy stored, but only be able to use it to propel the car. This addition would add a wide range of versatility, not the least of which would be to keep the fridge running and a couple of lights on during a blackout (with proper extension cords).

If only Tesla would add an auto wiper function that actually works! Sometimes I can barely see out the windshield due to rain and the wipers arent't wiping. At other times the camera sees bug splatter on a dry day and the wipers start working, mistaking the bug splatter for rain drops. Less expensive cars have auto wipers that work flawlessly. I've yet to meet a Tesla owner who isn't annoyed by the crappy auto wiper function, not to mention the danger or taking your eyes off the road to change manual wiper speeds. A semi passes and throws up water on the windshield, you need wipers immediately, and there's no stalk to change the setting emergently. This is dangerous!

I agree with most of your desired new features, but I am much more concerned with getting the existing features to work correctly. So many current "features" do not work reliably or at all and many are so distracting and / or inconvenient for the driver, that I would put an emphasis on fixing those before putting resources toward adding more things that don't work reasonably, reliably or in some cases at all.
    * The stupid poorly designed nonadjustable, unmovable head rest - placed so if you lean back into the seat for back support, the head rest forces your head forward tipping it down so you have a great view of your lap. My MY forces me to wear a back pack with a couple pair of jeans folded up in it to have decent back support and still see the road.
    * Seats that aren't cooled, ventilated or even perforated. They are like sitting on a plastic trash bag. Simply perforating them would help. I understand the trade off with range anxiety may prevent cooled seats, but surely that will be only a software update when the range wars taper off.
    * Safety priorities have made the car so paranoid it becomes unsafe. Even with all driver assistance "features" possible disabled, randomly slamming on the brakes at, blinking yellow caution lights, skid marks, shadows, heat mirages, etc., is dangerous even when the driver is expecting it. I'll grant that it keeps the driver on such a high alert nervous status that it might have some safety value from that standpoint.
    * Checking my safety score show I am regularly dinged for "following to close". This appears nearly every drive even though I have not followed another vehicle, met another vehicle or even seen another vehicle? It seems to recognize my garage wall as a truck that winks in and out of this dimension and throws up a yellow alert or red warning - maybe or perhaps it is related to the sudden braking at blinking yellow lights or other fantasies?
    * Randomly changing settings without warning or notification. e.g., chosen charge rate, or charge level, climate settings, entertainment settings, etc.
    * Randomly changing cruise control speed setting when it seems to incorrectly believe the speed limit has changed. Or fails to change when appropriate.
    * The existing features that useless as they are, but could be helpful, such as blind spot camera displayed on screen when turn signal enabled. Why place it in the worst possible spot on the display? Force you to hold the wheel at a precise pressure, then hide the camera view behind the steering wheel and your hand.
    * Passenger would like to look in glove box? Ask the driver to press a button and ask the car's permission to open the glove box, or change the display from what the driver is using and work through a menu to push the correct button.
    * And any of dozens of other similar poor choices or implementations.

This infrastructure change is the future, and it's essential to fully leverage the move from ICE to EV. CA spearheaded the move to cleaner emissions decades ago, and somebody needs to step up and require a modernized grid. Hopefully the first one through the door doesn't get too bloody.

The blind spot cameras displayed on the center screen offer little utility, and are distracting when driving at night (due to the directional signals flashing on and off). Blindspot mirrors (with the LEDs) are much more practical as most drivers intuitively are glancing toward the lane there moving to rather than towards the center console.

    • @colingenge9999

I agree that the Blindspot indicator is useless. I tried it and turned it off. It’s more dangerous than not having it at all because for one thing it’s in the bottom corner which is partly obstructed by my hand. It should be at best superimposed at the top middle of the display because when your signal light is in use, nothing much else is all that important.
Much better would be an omnipotent display that would show cars on all four sides. Right now it only shows cars in front. Cute but useless. I can see the cars in front but I can’t see the ones in the back.
