Are you just openly shilling now?
Excellent
Tesla dominates the EV market. Ford dominates the Truck market. Toyota dominates the hybrid market. All different areas.
I think you just made the perfect UA-cam video.
I love your research. 🔥
Facts 💯❤️❤️
Many EV companies seem to be “kicking the can down the street”, hoping that they can solve some of these issues later. Tesla is solving them now and will be even more ahead of the competition in the future, by making many of their own batteries, parts, building factories, mining, developing future tech, etc.
@@nelauren I think Elon said that they know of the quality issues and they'll be addressing them.
@@nelauren I agree 100%
@@nelauren Shanghai, Berlin, and Texas Gigafactories are putting out high quality vehicles. I think the quality issue IS the Fremont factory that’s still not optimized due to its cobbled together nature and the fact that California requires them to use “eco-friendly” paint that’s easily scratched and chipped, difficult to apply evenly, and difficult to repair.
Additionally, it seems the quality control mentality there is still “Good enough to ship; let Tesla Service fix it.” (Panel gaps, carpet issues, seat leather wrinkles, trim fitment problems, minor dings and scratches, etc.) It’s hard to change a work culture once engrained.
Yup. I think VW will be one of the only legacy manufacturers to get it right. They seem to be watching Tesla and taking notes, which is a good thing. They had just recently announced they're gonna spend billions on their own battery manufacturing facility. Which will really pay off for them long term like it has/is for Tesla. A lot of the other, especially legacy, manufacturers seem to just be making announcements with no actionable plan for execution. VW is also delaying some of their EVs under some of their sub-brands like Porsche to work more on software (taking another page out of Tesla's playbook, rightfully so). So i think VW has a lot of future potential.
@@VMYeahVN you are spot on. I can’t fathom why it’s so hard for the other companies to simply copy teslas business model. VW studies Tesla closely.
Tesla is turning the legacy autos into startups, while Tesla has become the true Legacy.
Sounds good - totally false. Porsche, Mercedes, on the high end have insanely higher levels of refinement and Toyota on the lower end will be competitive af
People keep saying over and over that Tesla never raises prices on their pre-oeder holders. I placed an order for the Model X many months before we even knew for sure that there was an update coming. At the suggestion of the salesperson, I ordered anyway so the price would lock. Efore the final release, they called me to tell me the price for my Performance (now Plaid) model would be raised by $20,000. Needless to say I told them to go pound sand. Stop with the BS!
Poor you.
So it’s ok for the stealerships to charge a lot extra for your car?
It’s just because of their charge network. But their ceo is a clown except for being a smart engineer. And these cars have poor quality. Long term the quality will never match the smart Japanese car makers.
GM have 30 EVs coming - in total lol 😂
They are in full on delusion mode. You dont even need 30 types of vehicles.
GM is actually going to die/bankrupt in 2025
Predictions are hard, especially about the future
Don’t sleep on Polestar.
Here comes the crap dealers. The BS continues.

the title should be "Tesla is Destroying the Competition in THE US"
You left out Lucid
Tesla is more focus on Twitter. BYD will overtake Tesla soon.
Lol. What sucker bought that F-150 for 140k. Lol. For a ford…. 🤦♂️

What about that FSD though..
HORRIBLE customer service and antiquated equipment (String Inverters) with tesla solar. Its cheap for a reason
What about kines cars regarding to numbers of sold csrs?
Model S Plaid : in Europe , price is NOT locked in. "We will communicate price when delivery is near"
Hahah. GM ... the leader in EVs. Toyota, your EVs are garbage. I'm so disappointed as a previous owner. Where's your touted solid state battery? Seems like a lie.
They almsot sell as many cars as mazda, a notably unsuccessful car brand
Tesla's cheapest car is essentially $50k with no cheaper models on the foreseeable horizon. The legacy manufacturers are still bringing in revenue from ICE vehicles but steadily releasing models that best Tesla in everything but 0-60 times. What's worse is the top selling vehicle segment is pickup trucks and Rivian, Ford, and GM will all beat Tesla to market. As long as ICE vehicles continue to sell, time is on the side of ICE manufacturers, not Tesla's. Now I haven't even started on speculating about a future ouster of Tesla from China.
Blah blah.. Tesla fanboy.. Kia, Hyundai, Lucid, Cadillac, Fisker and Rivian are Better looking cars than this crap tesla.. also with the new hummer EV truck I can throw in the back that crappy roach looking model 3 and Y. Keep making videos fanboy
Good news for Tesla, but encouraging for more general EV adoption, at least in the USA? I'm not so sure.
There is a company (that you apparently have never heard of) that sells more ev’s , that are actually affordable, than Tesla.
And they make their own batteries, which are superior to Tesla’s.
And they own their own lithium mines.
And they make their own chips. And all of their own parts.
This company is called…..BYD.
Hope I didn’t hurt your feelings.
I pay for premium UA-cam and these in video commercials are annoying. Feels like cable tv where we pay for service and they spam us with commercials.
Good show this so I will keep watching … arg
Boy what a hogwash headline. Hyundai's sales are growing faster than Tesla's, and they have already reached product quality parity in terms of customer satisfaction. And in China Tesla is meeting fierce competition, and although still slightly ahead, the overwhelming price advantage of Chinese brands is taking it toll on market share. Tesla is doing well, but to claim the competition is being destroyed is hyperbole, and Tesla Fan-Boy garbage.
In 5 years one of the Chinese brands will be way outselling Tesla. I don't know if it will be BYD, Xpeng, Nio or some other company, but there are almost 100 competing models in the pipeline, and a company that only produces 5 models cannot dominate a market as diverse as transportation. Look at the delivery van business; Tesla has lost all bids with Amazon, Fed Ex, and UPS. These are gigantic users of transportation, and Tesla will get none of that market.
I wouldn’t say Tesla dominating, maybe in electric cars for now. EV still make up a small share of the market. Last year 15 million cars where sold and EVs have yet to brake a million.
The only thing stopping me from buying a Model Y is the acceptance that it will have defects (panel gaps, paints, ...) and the fact that It must have a rustproofing applied (and losing the perforation warranty) since I can be sure it will rust (based on comments from current Model 3 owners).
I live close to the “rust belt”, so salt and grimy roads are our life from early December to ned of March...
Not scared at all for the battery duration (as many others) since it’s perfectly possible out of warranty to replace only dead cells and keep on going.
too bad tesla designs are so boring. all I see are more and more eggs rolling around.
There are some very successful EV companies producing a lot of cars in China. Some of these companies are expanding internationally and are delivering far more cars than the ICE manufacturers mentioned in this video. Many people associate Chinese products as cheap quality, but this isn’t the case anymore. China is producing premium quality products in many areas including EV’s. While it’s not there yet, the Chinese EV market is the market that will compete with Tesla in the next few years.
Tesla is leading but not by much plus not the best choice do to its over priced viecles...Better choices for me are the ID4 and the Mac E
I agreed. But, the post sale service of Tesla is horrible, that is why a lot of buye4s are whaiting fot lore options.
Literally zero new news in this episode. I get it that UA-cam punishes creators that don’t publish to a cadence, but I’m going to be less likely to watch at all when there is a chance there is no new material in a video…
"Destroying the competition" is not a viable way into a future of sustainable mobility.
When are you doing more content on that 22 model s you got? Lol!
I don't think any of this matters until Tesla's prices come back down to earth. 70K cars is not realistic for most Americans. The model Y was already almost out of reach at 50K when It came out. It has to get back to that price point if Tesla wants to take over the world.
The average EV price in US is $66k.
As long as there is enough demand at that price, then this will not change.
Tesla will lower the price, but not this year.
Hopefully sometime 2023/24.
@@runeoveras3966 Excluding pickup trucks, the top 10 selling vehicles in the US all have starting prices in the mid $20k. That $66k figure is meaningless as its the mean average, not the median. The $50k+, non-pickup truck, segment is very small in the greater auto market.
He is going to buy up all the ev companies and make them use his chargers
Lmao some dude in another videos comment section said "ford is catching up and soon will take over" 😂😂😂😂😂 i couldnt help but think that he most likely has the brain of a "island boy"
Don't tell them about BYD )
140k for a Ford Lightning... lmao why...
I always come away from your videos learning (Great job Ryan). I watched the battery day in 2018 and even as a mechanical engineer I thought some of the things they showed were probably 10 years away. Was I ever wrong, looking at the casting and 4680 technology that Tesla has already used I had one question for you. Have you thought about doing a video sort of full circle on how Tesla has in an incredibly short period of time been able to use paradigm shifting technologies. If I were a young engineer this is the first, second and third choice as an innovative manufacturer (they rock making cars too). Thanks for all you do Ryan.
GM: 30 new EV models 2025: LOL!!!!! Tesla & BYD will dominate!
great work. not clickbait. backed with numbers. I love all evs too, but no one is really scaling otber then tesla. They dont understand or care to acknowledge the supply demand issue with batteries and raw materials like tesla does having 14 years of actually producing EVs and going thru process of developing better supply chains then even existed before tesla. they are going to prop up and grow every mining company who does it within reasonable level of internationally accepted labor/environmental conditions. its cool to witness the transition
Here's a snippet from Australia. Firstly I am a TSLA shareholder (just to get that out of the way)... Australia already supplies 54% of the world's demand of Lithium. Many of these miners are listed on the Aussie Stock Exchange. I don't know of a single listed AU miner that doesn't have either a contract, or is talking about one with Tesla. The latest one I read about was Core Lithium supplying 150,00 tons of Lithium per year, with an option up to 300,00 TPY. This is just ONE miner, and there are HEAPS of them here. Why you may ask? Firstly it's because the Aus Govt has geomapped virtually the whole country, meaning that miners have a good chance of finding what they are looking for. Then there is the mining industry. It is HUGE maybe the biggest in the world... Bla Bla Bla I could go on and on...
Tesla is saturating the market with its 2 prime vehicles. The $50k-70k non-pickup truck segment is relatively small, making Tesla a big fish in a small pond.
I am not for GM succeeding. 😂. They can take their debt loaded company and dig a hole 🕳
This isn't going to age well. Kia and Hyundai are already selling EVs to a broader market. Chinese EV makers will soon enter the US market. Along with Legacy car makers entering the market, Telsa's dominance isn't looking good
11 months later and I feel this has aged extremely well. Curious for your general thoughts though
No, Tesla has reached its peak. Next year all other manufacturers will regain their market shares. It's already starting now, because everyone is starting to build electric cars and the raw materials and suppliers are supplying all car manufacturers again. As before, the market will be divided among everyone, especially since Teslas are becoming more expensive but the quality is not improving. The price has always been the best argument for Tesla, but other manufacturers are delivering much cheaper cars with better quality. 2023 will certainly be a bad year for Tesla.
Do you stand by this 11 months later? To be clear, not wanting an argument here, just genuinely curious to see if your thoughts have changed in either of the two directions
Great video! Tesla is definitely top tier this decade for sure 🤩
one thing I know for sure Tesla is destroying the price. Had they not raising their price for every other months I will be a fan of. Not so much now
Was adjusted for inflation, just like everything else in the world. Elon said when inflation calms down, prices will come down.
Great summary of the "state of the EV industry"! We really as a community are going to have to help with all the fud out there, and this goes a long way!
What’s “fud?”
@@seenso it's just an acronym for "fear, uncertainty, doubt"
Its amazing how many Teslas I see on the road now of days. Although they are all starting to look the same haha.
Yup I got 4 neighbor have them soon I’ll be fifth neighbor in the area owning one but I’ve seen few 2023 model y now.
I’ve worked with Toyota and let me tell you… I’m not assuming them to scale EVs any time soon. They are a shit show.
They make too much money selling rav4 hybrids and corolla and Camrys lol they don't really care for evs
i got my model 3 long range in 4 month. its been one weak since i owned the car. i love it.
We need a track mode for the Model Y Performance.
Also how does optiwatt make money when the app is free?? What data are they selling? I’ve looked on their website and it just says they essentially wanna help the planet which is a nice thought but that’s not gonna make them money.
I think you answered your own question
@@dclpgh I didn’t answer anything. Do you know for sure that optiwatt is not selling user data? They say they don’t, but they have to be selling something to make money.
I hope Tesla NEVER makes track mode available to owners because it will increase insurance premiums for us dumbos that are subsidising those owners for crashes that happen at track days (and I have seen plenty when I was in the BMW car club). If you want to play on a track, get a dedicated track car (like a Plaid for example)... Just my 2c worth.
@@greghudson9717 insurance already doesn’t cover loses incurred at a race track, pretty much every insurance agency has this policy, so I’m not sure what you mean.
That will change in the next few years. GM is working on some interesting vehicles.
*Tesla haters* “Once legacy car makers come out with EV’s Tesla will go bankrupt!”
*Toyota* comes out with EV that’s can’t fast charge if it’s slightly cold and also the wheels fall off
*Chevy* had to recall and replace all bolt batteries due to spontaneous fire risk
*Ford* had to recall all Mach E’s because the main battery connector might overheat and melt, also sunroof might fly off
*Mazda* sells a crap EV that you basically can’t buy to ‘prove’ that no one wants to buy EV’s
Yeah I’m not that worried about Tesla being overtaken by the competition anytime soon…
I'm glad to see you be so pro competition. Wanna be monopolies always work out well right?
@@walterd7331 Obviously Tesla will face plenty of competition. It’s just odd to see the large auto manufacturers make so many unforced errors.
@@TrendyStone I agree. Besides, Tesla is far from being a monopoly and if they appear that way I guess we can thank the errors of the other companies adding to Tesla’s success. Musk’s goal is openly stated and it’s to benefit the world. He has allowed open patents and met with senior execs at VW to show his support for the entire movement.
I honestly give it ten years. Big auto makers will catch on eventually and start offering better options at a better price.
EV market is still in its infancy
Legacy auto makers = Kodak, sears, Nokia, blockbuster... 💀💀💀
We have a great respect and trust in Musk's technology and foresight. Please, politics and Twitter should not speak and play with you, and focus on technology, business and parenting. It is a mask statue that I respect. Mask, who is sucking in politics and Twitter, is sad and closed, a magic that loses respect.
they will make so much money for replacement parts on these in the future.
that is where they will bank.
V3 Electric has 10+ years of experience in the solar industry working in the PG&e region and has partnered with Tesla as a Powerwall distributor and certified installer since 2019. The Powerwall is the best solar storage product on the market and it does exactly what it’s advertised to do. Tons of homeowners I’ve worked with swear by having V3 Electric solar + Tesla Powerwall installed at their home. 👍
They may be winning but they are losing the mission. Teslas got way too expensive despite record profits over each vehicle sold. It’s mission to accelerate the adoption affordable electric vehicles has been abandoned over corporate greed. The model Y is no longer within my budget and I barely crack 6 six figures. At least my TSLA stocks have decent returns.
TSLA does not give returns (i.e. dividends) well at least not yet, but that may change soon. (Think of your upcoming share split as a dividend)...
You make great points. Supply of Rare Earth metals will be key to electric cars. I do not think the big Three has thought about the supply chain as much as Tesla. Or the Time it takes to build an electric car assembly line including Engineering the cars themselves. Also Charging Stations . Unlike Tesla who was Brilliant building there own Charging stations I hope Telsa will ramp up charging stations as fast as it is building cars. There are already times when using Tesla chargers require you to wait in line .
We need more superchargers
Thanks you Ryan, this was great. Just got my model X after a long wait. How likely are the prices to go up again? And what's the realistic timeline for the price going up? Is there a pattern?
Inflation is the key factor and its not going away anytime soon. FSD will definitely continue to go up as well. I got an allocation through tesla but my 22 model 3 is 10k more at a dealership with 500 miles on it.
I really like your style of reporting. You don’t come across like a Tesla cult follower like some of the other vloggers on UA-cam.
The only thing that can challenge Tesla in the US would be a Chinese EV but our politicians would tell you an American monopoly is way better.
Byd sells more cars than Tesla now actually
@@senoow4215since I’m from California I see more people drive home with their teslas more past few days I’ve seen one or two brand new 2023 model y I got 4 neighbors who own tesla and I’m about to be fifth neighbor to own one. "Model 3 can be delivered in a few months"
Nope. Where did you get that idea? 3-6 months is the current PROMISED wait.
I ordered mine in Dec 2021. Still waiting. Delivery date changed twice. Now it's Aug to September.
ITS MADDENING i ordered a long range model y in November and just got another pushback on the delivery date it is now August 8th to September 5th :(
Thoghts on him using solar and trees in his parking lots to reduce heat and increase energy.
Rivian also found out the hard way what happens if you try to backdate price increases after a customer places an order.
Awesome video Ryan. Great quality
Ryan, when if ever will Tesla no longer be constrained by the production of 4680 batteries. I have not found anyone trying to answer this question.
Wait for master plan pr 3.
Keyword: extreme scaling.
Make at least 10x more in a smaller gigafactory, as they showed at battery day.
It’s coming soon.
Think about this...They're asking people to cut back on AC use during the heat wave is straining the electric grid! but at the exact same time they want everybody to buy an electric car??
Simple. Think cleaner air, global warming etc etc. Get with the program (like me). I am a solar homeowner with a Tesla battery, a model Y coming soon, and already a member of the Tesla VPP (Virtual Power Plant). I'm doing my bit for the planet, and helping keep the lights on for people during our winter power spikes. (I'm in Australia).
Engine cars need fuel tank, engine, cooling system, exhaust and transmission and computers. Why have Legacy Auto ignored the need for batteries? Maybe because everything except engine and transmission are bought in. Why are batteries any different? Then suddenly it’s - OMG we can’t get batteries or the computers to control everything.
Read it as "Tesla is not Destroying the competition | It's Not Even Close", and thought wtf. Then clicked on the video and realised I am indeed high as fuck.
Go Tesla.
Does anyone think tesla prices will ever come back down or is it only up from here
I think they'll come down with new product introductions, and range increases overtime. So a standard range Model 2 (or whatever they call it), may eventually come with a 250 mile range. By then the Model Y long range might be over 400 miles, and still expensive. We'll have to see how it all plays out though.
What’s this I’m hearing that there is almost 0 deliveries of RWD model 3 cars ordered as far back as January when the website was showing June delivery dates. Only performance and kings ranges are being delivered. Rwd orders aren’t even getting VINs yet.
I am baffled so many wants to buy Model 3/Y. The choice of putting a decoration shelf behind the steering wheel is all I need know...
Every single Ford Mach E is recalled too! Tesla is 20x the competition
diğer otomobil üreticilerine yılda 100000 den daha fazla araç üretmelerini zorunlu tutmak gerekir. İçten yanmalı motorlu otoların ömrü 5 yıl ile sınırlanmalıdır.
Ryan- something seems to be holding Tesla back as well. They just pushed my estimated delivery date out yet another month. If production is so high, why is it taking 9 months to deliver a car?
Interesting you say that because I've just had my Australian order moved FORWARD to Oct 22 from Nov 22. (china built with CATL made LFP batteries)...
Probably because you ordered a non-top-of-the-line model and the parts from yours are going to someone else whose is.
Well don’t forget Ford’s Mach E with the over heating and they don’t even have a fix for it yet. Almost 50k is affected
We ordered our Y in November 2021 and our date for getting our Y keeps getting pushed out. From June 2022 to most recently October 1-November 12, 2022 😢.
We ordered a LR, 19" Gemini wheels, Midnight Silver Metallic paint. We keep waiting 😁.
Elon has no interest in getting into the mining side of things. He said this recently, and it's actually the refining and processing that's the most labour and time intensive (lithium itself is very abundant).
And CNBC had video tittle "Why Ford's Mustang EV Is Dethroning Its Rivals" :-P
Realistically Legacy auto makers will nee another 2-3 years of development and production scaling to produce at Tesla's current levels.
I swear Elon Musk is a character from this book series "Enders Game". The characters name is Ukko Joukahainen..
Great show, presentation and content A1. Tesla is so far ahead it is embarrassing for automotive OEMs. Thanks
In my little family of six we have six cars. Three are Ford’s. Each has had 4-8 recalls. They say it’s not safe to drive but when you call the dealership they don’t have the recall parts…and won’t have them for 9-12 months. So….you let it sit or drive an unsafe car. Thanks Ford, you suck! My VW has had one recall which they fixed quickly but I had to go to the dealership. Same with the Subaru.
My model 3 had one recall, a small washer added to the trunk, which their mobile service installed in the parking lot at my work. Anecdotally I’m doing much better with the Tesla. 35,000 miles and I’ve only had to add wiper fluid.
Hi Ryan, I am liking your videos. If someone would like to have a conversation about sponsoring a video what do I need to do? I don't see a contact in the about page. Thank you, Ron.
I have been wanting to get an electric vehicle ever since Tesla was a baby company. I see a few on the road, but something I am not seeing where I live is charging stations.
IMO the biggest problem with Tesla is it’s reliant to Elon Musk. Would be interesting to see how it navigate without Elon in the future.
Chinese EV market seems to be better prepared than most of traditional car makers for the future.
Until the cars are more affordable hey really won’t ever be ahead of the competition! Kia and Toyota will beg to differ whether Tesla is really ahead. So far Toyota and Kia are legit car makers making better quality vehicle over all. I mean they are actually car manufacturers. I know Tesla has a following similar to Apple where their supporters stand by them no matter what, even if it is not really the best product. Make the Tesla more affordable then we can talk 🤫
Honda/Sony EV will be a good competitor. All a company has to do to beat Tesla make a vehicle with 600 plus miles that charges fast and affordable
In my opinion, tesla is the best electric car. They have the longest ranges of pretty much any other EV, their performance and technology is incredible.
Tesla is peppered with issues to be sure. But…
They are light years ahead of the competition.
The incessant predictions of Tesla’s imminent demise brings back all the CW predictions of Apple’s demise from a couple decades ago.
People live making fire predictions and reading them. Those predictions must feed some human need or want, though I have no idea what it is.
In any event, even if/when other companies reach some scale comparable to Tesla’s, it does not mean the end of Tesla. Ford, GM, BMW, Honda, etc… have all existed together for decades.
