It is really refreshing to see a young guy share proven fishing videos. So many on UA-cam are doing videos just for the money. From an 80 yr. old westerner, "Way to go."
I once caught 3 Stripers on 3 consecutive casts that were 55 pounds each from Tobay Beach (Jones Beach Long Island) Halloween night 1995 using fresh cut bunker. Unfortunately , it was before cell phone cameras and I think I had a pager then. Too bad. 30 years ago. Wow! Was the best night I've ever had in 60 years of striper fishin. And will almost certainly never have another night of fishing like that again. Unless I move to long island. I actually lived in California then and was here for the Montauk run, drove my motorhome to stay a month to fish and visit my sister in Wantaugh . I was just in the right place at the right time that night . A school of big bass happened to be swimming by. Caught on a 12 ft big water ugly stick with a penn squidder 140L reel and 30 lb Ande mono. 1995 and 96 were great years for salt water off Long Island. Lots of big fish those years. Jersey Shore and Staten Island too.
Excellent video. I really got into surf/jetty fishing in Charlestown and Westerly since I retired a couple of years ago. Very helpful info for me. Keep the videos coming!
If I am fishing from the beach with chunk bait (2 rods - neither with baitrunner options) and i am not holding the rod and have them in PVC holders while I am with my kids or whatever, would you recommend me leaving the bail closed and tending to it when I see the rod bending or should I turn my drag way down manually to act as a bait runner? Also, I live in NH where you cant get Bunker in shops, mostly Macks, Clams, and Maybe bloodworms, which would you suggest?
Yea i hear people talk about “overkill”. I rather be overkill than underkill lol i use wire leader close to 100lbs with a 80lbs braid test. I dont worry about losing a fish. Caught a lotta fish last year. Lot more than the ones that told me “oh thats overkill” 😉
We are definitely super new to stripe or fishing or salt water fishing in general and having a hard time finding places to fish off the shore like you're. Talking about four strippers any suggestions for me and my wife thank you . In rhode island preferably or connecticut
Wow that reel looks like a 10,000 or 14,000 offshore. Good video, bunker n eels = big stripers. Love artificials but bait will typically outfish artificials.
Where is sams bait n tackle is it in providence by the Burger King exit 18 I think it was if it is I used to go there with my step dad to get Squid An them worms for the ocean they bite to look like centipede
Love your video. I subscribed and liked. I was after a 40 plus inch striper but I hooked a great white shark instead while fishing fom my kayak. Toss me a subscription too, if you like, I only need a couple more to get 1000 :) Cheers
Depends if you know what you're doing. I only catch release, none of my fish swallowed bait. Gotta know when to set the hook, and use circle hooks for bait. They're foolproof
There’s laws what’s called a slot it can only be kept if it’s shorter then one size but bigger then another , it gives the small one chance to grow & giant ones to pass there strong genetics
You funny bro. Of course I know how to chunk. This vid is for ppl who don't know how to. He also mentioned best tides and time to fish for striper. Your just big headed and think you know it all. Lol.
Like you I've been surf fishing since I was a kid. I haven't done much of it in a while but it's time to get back into it. Great tips.

I loved catching pogey in Fairhaven mass, West island Bridge as a kid. I used a treble hook to catch pogey. When they arrived it was a see of pogey!!
you just snag em?
Salina is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Another great video Jonny!
Well done, Jonny! 👍
Thanks for warming things up in January dude! Almost halfway through winter... Great tank of a striper...
So close yet so far...

Thanks for watching! Should have a lot more content come springtime
Great info bro thx for posting.
Ken
Great info. Thank you
This is an amazing video thank you
I'm also in Rhode Island. Chunking is the way to go.

You seem to be enjoying Okuma tackle, see if they will let you review their travel rods, looking for one to take to Florida myself.

Great video. I would have mentioned on how to hook the bunker and the difference between fresh and frozen and how to hook bunker on fresh and.frozen
Good point I definitely prefer fresh bunker
What's a good reel to pair with that rod? What about a Penn Spinfisher VI 6500?
Can't wait for the fish to move into CT. What do you think of Live Line Reels for chunking in combination with the Circle Hooks?
How do you feel about chunking from the kayak? Drop a chunk down while casting topwater?
It can be tough chunking from a kayak if the current is strong but still doable

Is it inline circle hooks?
Yea inline circe hooks
Try the okuma avenger reel I have 2 and they are a dream
Johnny: where is a good source for fresh bunker? Fresh vs. frozen is key. Hard to find a shop that carries fresh.
Ya usin’ chunks?

No that’s most likely ocean state tackle
Someone send this to The Garbage Man
We chunk mackerel
I'm an avid striper hunter swining 12' heavers and multiplier reels in rough surf most of the time.. but never with bait...lures only...

Bologna 😂
fishswallow cut bait to deeply for a catch and release tech. and bait should not be allowedperiod in a catch and release bullshit situation anyhow
Depends if you know what you're doing. I only catch release, none of my fish swallowed bait. Gotta know when to set the hook, and use circle hooks for bait. They're foolproof
Why did you let go that fish ???? Take it home and cook it !!
Some people like the trophy, and the fight. Some fisherman dont even like to eat fish believe it or not.
He’s white

Thought this video was catching fish. 🚮
How is it trash. ? He is actually giving good info on how to land fish. I think your ignorance is trash.
@@huemoua2961 if you don't know how to chunk fish. Your trash regardless 😂
