*Overall **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I feel the Shadowfire 360 offers excellent value for those who are new to tenkara and don't want to break the bank on their first rod purchase.*
That was during the Tropicana blitz of 83! A polish guy named Irish Greg showed up with Jeff the Janitor carrying a box of Anise extract and a TV guide. I was there but I got my line cut while chunking a clam belly.
@@SRTKOVA Oh shit you’re right man, and later we had the big blitz of 45 over at the pacific. Everyone walked out with a 50 plus except Hirohito, he skunked bad.
As a west coast angler I had no clue you could catch striper on the east coast and then I found out that the ones here's ancestors were brought here from the east. Learn something new everyday.
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Leroy Bishop i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thanks you so much, with your Video I took a good tips how to catch a big fish..... Usually I catch in lakes, but it's a different .....Thanks again. I ask you next time for more information and tips .....
Billy knows wtf he is doing, one man one rod operation. People laugh at me when I crank the reel a couple times to move the chunk after it sits for a big, I tell em I'm putting a new presentation on the plate. THAT SHIT WORKS. when u know the fish is there and u didn't get a bite for 15 minutes move it a couple feet.
Excellent tips for us Bait Hurlers. It would nice to find out the reel, rod & braid size? Bill did mention the 100# mono leader. But I didn't pickup any other tackle details. Looks like some kind of live liner reel, obviously. Penn Fierce II Live Liners are now available as an affordable live liner choice; 6000 & up models for medium to heavier option. Pair it up with a 9' - 11' Lami. or Tsunami with 30+lb. braid, 3 way swivel, 2-4 oz weight. And you'll have a decent or setup. Plus save a few bucks for those pogies! Tight lines in Fall '15 for all you surf-dogs out there! Cheers...I've got to sign up to get these past episodes.
+Stephen O'Brien Typo...... meant to say decent or similar setup. If there are any other specifics on Bill's setup please let me know. Also feel free to reply with any good rod options or something similar to Bill's. Thanks )
I was striper surf fishing of a beach in Maine with baitrunner. I used clam and squid on circle hooks. I was getting big bites but could not catch anything. When that reel was on ( the second light drag.....aka the baitrunner)...for a second or three...they would spit it out the minute I reeled or yanked the rod. Rod is a 10-11 foot Tsunami. Reel is a Shimano baitrunner 4500. I dont know what I was doing wrong but it just didn't work...lost allot of fish...also a very big one...that I had on rod fighting for 1 minute then lost it. Is it the knot on the hook or the size of hook ( #3/0 to 4/0? The rod? Can you please help me....or explain what im doing wrong.🙏? I love to fish with baitrunner for allot of species...i just want it to work for stripers. Thanks
Nice video! I always end up back on the clams or the bunker . Throwing lures gets thin (and personally) never caught anything big on a plug. My best was to a bunker chunk and a live eel.
I use bunker chunks in nyc and catch monsters every time I go out. Never had that experience with lures. I tell my friends all the time that I’d rather trek an extra hour to buy cooler full of bunker than to show up earlier with a lure. I’ll catch more fish every time :). Cheers!
NYCYABBER710 I’m in Brooklyn and fishing breezy point and sometimes Rockaway. Where are you landing them? I have only had blues so far this season (well and the corona virus was the biggest and most fucked yo catch)
NYCYABBER710 I’m so bored right now and trying to shake this virus. I need to get out more and haven’t been fishing more than a few times this whole year. Any particular spots you can recommend?
DarkbyDesign Canarsie pier is great fishing most of the time. When I can’t get out there I walk up the path from the belt parkway and cast anywhere I think is decent. If you pick belt parkway you’ll usually see guys clumped up and that’ll mean fish is there. Those dudes fish to eat so they know the area pretty well. If you fish by them they won’t say anything but it never hurts to offer them your fish if you catch a legal :)
Could I please have a recommendation on beaches that can produce stripers on Cape cod I'm here for a couple more days on vacation in have been skunked so far
What hooks are these? I use the Gami octopus 8/0 and 9/0 for the chunks... but... I'd like them shorter shank, wider gap... which mustad makes some like that, but they are the brown non-chemically sharpened ones... those hooks look nice... which are they???
Actually it's because of the weight of the bait and tackle. Before he casts he's holding onto the line with his index finger. But he's using really heavy bait and tackle which will be dragging on that line. If it slips it'll cut his finger.
Great video ,, do u know if I would I be allowed to fish on the beach at Coney Island or Rockaway beach ,, or will the cops ticket me or chase me away , thank you .
Typically, no, in my experience. If they turn parallel to the beach and run with any kind of beach current then perhaps. It's not fun to cross lines with others working their own bass toward the beach. 95 out 100 times a bass making a 'run for the border' (even straight out to sea) is unusual.
Very helpful video🖒 I wanted to ask where can I buy the weight swivel I look at many places like Dick's Sporting Goods at my local bait and tackle shop but no luck
it looks like he attached the swivel with a small split ring. so just get a bag of swivels a pack of fish finders and a back of small split rings and make your own
***** I have a couple storm sinker molds. We fish Hatteras. Most commonly used sinker there is a pyramid. My buddies believe the pyramid holds better. I personally don't think there's much difference. When I provide them for free they don't care. Mr. Fischer is using a standard drum rig ( fish finder). I do like his idea of using the swivel on the sinker. Never noticed anyone doing that in NC.
With a short leader, wouldn't the fish not see the bait. That is my biggest problem. I have always used a short leader, but never caught stripers Plz help!!!
+Zayd Shah short leader keep distance from bait to the rig weight, that's help yu to cast far cause less rezistence on air! you have to go where stripers are and you gona se they no make difference betwee long or short leader
+arian miloti would the bait stay in the strike zone?? the bait would be on the bottom, and no fish would see it. Stripers aren't bottom feeders, so....
+Zayd Shah stripers are BOTTOM FEEDERS ! during attack against bunkers usually bluefishes get bunkers and choop them up,,the others pieces and left overs drop on bottom of water where stripers take care
the reel is a Shimano bait caster.( probably a 6000 ) The lever on the bottom back flip-up puts it in bait mode, it has a very light drag to it(adjustable knob on the bottom). so the fish has time to run with the bait without feeling any drag.
That's what's up billy you remind me of my self at my striped bass stopping grounds, like you I'm well known to have limits daily and also known to not GAF tight lines my brother
Great video.I usually chunk for stripers but I was using a whole live mackerel this one day when I was after a 40 plus inch striper when I hooked a great white shark instead while fishing from my kayak. Part of my video was recently used on the Discovery Channel episode called The Great White North. Toss me a subscription if you like, I only need a couple more to get 1000 :) Cheers

Stripper on Tenkara is epic.
Don’t forget the couple drops of Anise extract. Bob taught me that at the Tall Mike fundraiser blitz of 89

Yeah, me too. Can't seem to find ones like that, short shank-wide gap.
a lot of good info!
What type of slider is that ?
Sorry for the dumb question, but why do fishermen put heavy tape on their fingers?
Actually it's because of the weight of the bait and tackle. Before he casts he's holding onto the line with his index finger. But he's using really heavy bait and tackle which will be dragging on that line. If it slips it'll cut his finger.
So the braided line doesn't slice your finger. You can either use duct tape or buy a finger shield made of kevlar.
