These were such good looking trucks back when they came out. My parents bought a brand new 2004 dodge ram 1500 regular cab in flame red. It was such a good looking truck inside and out. I loved it.
Best Generation of Rams in my opinion! My single mom bought a quad cab short box in August, 2002. Patriot blue, 4.7l, 2wd, and with the 5 speed manual! That’s right! We bought the plain wrap base model! Manual door locks, window cranks and transmission! No power nothing and that’s how we love it! Everything still works to this day! And by having the 5 speed manual (which is the best part!) we never dealt with those automatic tranny problems that these trucks were known for back then! The manual also makes it feel like a muscle truck! These manual Rams are very fun to drive! And we still have it! 139k on the clock and still runs fine! It will be a single owner truck until it dies! This video was pretty nostalgic for me and brings me back to my 10 year old self at the Norm Reeves dealership with my mom to buy this truck! 😊
This is such a cool video! I have a 2003 one in graphite gray that my dad bought brand new in June 2003 and gave it to me when I was 16. My sisters and I grew up in the back of that truck, I’m at 122,300 miles and it still runs great. I’ll never give that truck up,, got too many memories. I hope I’ll still be driving it in another 20 years with my future kid in the backseat!
I think the third gens look pretty good, I think they look even better with the front end refresh a few years later though. However I prefer the second gens and I think this was quite a downgrade in styling. I would also say, at least in my area of the rust belt, i seem to see more third gens in worse shape than second gens still on the road. They dont seem to hold up as long.
I would say that John Davis forgot 1 more automatic transmission the 2002 Ram 1500 came with. The 45RFE was mounted to the 3.7 V6 and 4.7 V8 and the 5.9 V8 had the 46RE automatic transmission. I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 and the 46RE transmission. Had to replace the transmission, but runs excellent and a bit of a gas hog.
Man when these came out in late 2001 early 2002 I was like wow. I seen it I the newspaper and took the news paper to school. It's so nostalgic to see a 2002 in New condition. Back in 2002 I was like I wounder how that truck would look 15 to 20 years from now. I must say they held up well.

They are still great looking
There are tons of them still out on the road.
@@MidnightPolaris800 Dodge Ram is beautiful and nice truck. Brutal truck
Rest in piece to the silver bullet.. my 2002 ram 1500 5.9 sport was the best truck I’ve ever had.

I still have my 05 standard cab short box. Bought it new. only 84,000 on it. I use it a lot, just not for big distances. still love it.

Back when a good loaded truck was only 30k
Minimum wage was also like 4$
Minimum wage was 5.15/hr and cars have absolutely outpaced wages so the minimum wage is not even a relevant marker.
@@lovelivevike5507wtf does that have to do with anything? 😂😂
Early third gen are my favorites man
I can't believe they we're still using the 5.9L in 2002. By 2002 the 5.9L was literally a 31 year old engine lol.
I'd like to know more details on the 12-valve V8 engine option! 😂😂

I like tech that modern vehicles have, but sometimes it would be nice to be back in era of basic trucks
I always thought this generation of the dodge ram looked cool especially the front part of it, I like these more than the new dodge rams
It was this generation of Dodge Ram that gave us the RAM SRT10.
