Met Jackson in the summer of 65 I was 16 he 17. Took a bicycle trip with my friend Rod from Compton to Knotts Berry Farm Well we stopped to get an ice cream cone in Thrifty's on Rosecrans and Beach Blvd .Met a guy (Jackson) with long hair and of course asked him how his school (Sunny Hill's High) let him have long hair when ours (Dominguez) always sent you home for hair just a tad over your ears. Talked about how he had a garage band and we went on our way to Knotts .Some years later seeing an article in a newspaper about Jackson and a picture of him in high school when he was just staring out. That was my claim to fame that chance meeting. Later on in years finally after being a fan since the beginning of his career(Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and seeing him countless times in concert got to actually meet him face to face again at Amoebas Records in Hollywood at a meet and greet mini-' concert to promote His "Time The Conqueror" album. Didn't get the time i wish i could have at Amoeba but did get two vinyl records albums signed by him and his guitarist gave me his guitar pick. I wished (Jackson) a Happy Birthday and went on my way.. Still his biggest fan forever.
Very Cool!
That's a Sweet story Congratulations
On your 50yrs. Together. 💘✌
I love stores like that, very cool. I never met Jackson, but the men I grew up with in Dayton Ohio had a band in Los Angeles back in the day. They lived right next-door to Glenn Frey in those fucked up apartments where Jackson and Glenn ended up writing the song Take It Easy. Years later these guys became my mentors, and later still I was befriended by David Lindley and then eventually studied lap steel guitar with David at the Fur Peace Ranch…Oh it’s amazing how music intertwines and comes and goes I like the large long beautiful plant that keeps us alive
Running way too fast in my boyfriend’s Chevy-wind blowing wild in our hair; married and together 50 years later, still running together. Your music has brought so much joy. Lord willing, We will be in your audience Tacoma WA 2021
Thats love. Im jealous. Checkout Jackson Brownes youtube channel. Guy himself
Jackson, the man who taught the Eagles how to rock n roll.
Takes me back to Lisdoonvarna Ireland in the summer of '82.Jackson was the headline act.Slept in a sleeping bag in a large marquee, the Hare Krishnas dished out the breakfast in the morning. The field turned very mucky after all the rain - a bus got stuck in the mud and while lending a hand to push it we discovered that it was Browne's tour bus with none other than the man himself giving a hand to free the bus - such memories - " the years gone
by like so many summer fields "
That is so so cool Sean, would love to know more, born in 1982 but got to meet the man twice, that's a great memory to have of when the man was in his prime.
Great video.I miss those times when we were all so young and free. Jackson Browne forever....
So weird that I can’t remember where my keys are but can recall the lyrics of all these songs just by listening to the music…..Love Needs a Heart is one of my favs….
Proud and alone, cold as a stone…..goosebumps…..
I absolutely love that song(love needs a heart) he and Lowell were great songwriters and musicians.. stating the obvious but still..
Me too! I love that song!
I love it too...
Such a beautiful song that I listen to and view on this medium.
Isn't Jackson the Best lyricist of out time ., ?
I believe so.
He's some one I've always wanted to meet.
Looks like the tour is going well.
Hopefully he makes it to Australia soon.
Much love to you Jackson....
Also to the others who love this song.
Good luck with the Tour..
“Suitcase of memories” Love how that ended with “Stay”. No doubt
The magic that is Mr Lindley...
Rest in Peace David Linley, somewhere out there everyone is listening to you Running that Slide and filling our ears with all the world’s instruments. Magical
Thank You

Been a fan my whole 35 years in existence thanks to my dad and “Running On Empty” was my first exposure to Jackson Browne’s awesomeness.
cool daddy.. I had one of those
my youngest son is your age...my father listened to sea chanties
I have been a fan.. hmmmm.. since 74.. something like that.. good music.. good people.. J Browne... awesome actually
I have been listening since 1972. His music is Timeless. By far my favorite singer/songwriter.
Big bro's music. Must have been 10 years old. 1972. If I had to pick one, it would be the Dead. If I had two, Jackson #2.
David Lyndley is my favorite musician. Jackson Browne my favorite singer and songwriter.
Thank you Jackson Browne for beautiful music, brings back better memories of our younger carefree times ❤….God bless you brother, always.
My freshman year of college 1977-1978. JB was so big. It seemed everyone on my campus was listening. There were those of us that had been listening since Saturate and was happy to have so many join us!
Wouldn't know my life without your music. I can hear you.
I remember ḡreat memory of his Japan tour.
ありがとうジャクソン・ブラウン
I was introduced to this album on a cassette tape back in 1984, when I was 4 ears old, by my father who received it as a gift while working abroad, he left when I didn’t remember and I used to look at pictures on him, then all of a sudden this man came back for me with all these wonderful gift and the first night he was back at home I fell to sleep listening to the tile track……here I am just turned 41 this year and still listening to the exact same music and just after dinner tonight I was playing “the pretender” on the piano for my 7 year old daughter to sing along to. Thank you mr. Browne for giving us this wonderful music that not just shaped my life but influenced generations of people around me, I already thank you for all the joy your music surely will bring to generations to come!
Always love me some Jackson. For almost 50 years.❤ From the beginning of the LP of a piano mic check, the crowd yelling out requests. READY OR NOT!...DOCTOR MY EYES!.. JACKSON BROWNE!Then the pedal pumping, feet stomping..Boom: SHOWTIME! Guitar chords ripping..LOOKIN OUT AT THE ROAD RUSHING UNDER MY WHEELS.
Jackson, you are the Musical Doctor for MY...OUR souls!!
MD JB!!
Beautiful.
The highlight of my day is finding a notification to listen to your incredible, masterful, unbelievable music.
Your still so handsome!
If it's ok.....
All my love to you
Thank you so much for your message Jackson.
I saw you in concert last visit to Melbourne with my Daughter.
My Children grew up listening to you.
You are my favorite artist......
The Pretender means more to me than I could ever express here.
I shall contact you again.
You have made my day.
Much love always.
God bless you........
Jo Archbold xoxo
I graduated high school in 1980, and this was the anthem of my life.
1981 here! Saw him for the first time in 1978 in New Haven CT. First of many times……
1980 too, used Running on Empty for one of the songs in our 35th high school reunion.
I’m a 1980 high school graduate too…I listened to Jackson all the time but my high school was more into disco…
85 for me. What a magical time. Child of the 60's, so much discovery from 70's, and then the start of 80's tech.
Me too...
First ever concert, Niagara Falls ‘78. Ripe age if 13. Grew up a bit that night. Epic memory. Thanks JB.
Proud to be a Jackson Browne fan. I mean how *good* is this music?!
Ditto! So proud…
Pretty f’ing great!
IT DONT GET MUCH BETTER
Doesnt get better like this.
You aren’t kidding!!!
Man! Great memories thanks for sharing . 19 years old in 1976 living in Huntington Beach and listening to Jackson Browne on the beach are some of the memories that come up.
The memories just flood back.
Greatest singer /songwriter of all time. Got late for the sky for my 12th birthday and have been a huge fan since then. Seen 24 times in concert and can't wait for the next time, and the new album
The greatest album ever!
R O E is track 14 of a CD sampler I made years ago - played (first) EVERYTIME I head home - South to exit 117 on the Garden State Parkway - mornings - sort of an anthem for me - STILL uplifts my outlook - after 40 years ...... imagine ??? ..........'lookin' out at the road rushin' under my wheels....
Every single time I'm listening those songs, I'm there on the Silver Eagle bus jamming with them, or maybe playing guitar in a hotel room, playing drums like Russ Kunkle or slide guitar as Mr . Dave
How many times I've dreamed of to be there playing with Jackson and enjoying with the band.
Thank you Jackson for all the good feelings you give me every time I'm listening this album. I'm ready to go Chicago or Detroit, I don't know... Close your eyes and you will be there with me!
I just love Jackson.
Thanks for the memories. That lap steel sings.
David lindley a master of the instrument and a life long collaborator of jacksons
I wish I had a dime for every time I listened to this album!!
I wore out the vinyl, an 8 track, a cassette and a cd. I'll probably wear out the digital version I own now too♥
I'd be rich if it was a nickel offering!
Just magical memories, Jackson. The band you put together were among the finest of our generation. We need a time machine - anyone wanna take the trip back???!!!
It looks like yesterday. At that time, being a student with no income wasn't easy to buy things and make a living. But i bought it, Running on Empty was my first album bought brand new, it was in 1978 (or 79). It was my summer musical theme, at sunset, when the life's color are stronger and brighter. Over 40 years ago and today, somehow, i'm still Running on Empty.
Ma davvèro beautiful my Brother. Only 33 yrs old but its my fave sonh ever.
Yearning for an experience like yours
Oh the memories! I was at the New Year’s Eve show at the Forum in LA in ‘78. Best concert ever! Rosemary Butler’s vocals shook that place!
This is so GOOD!!!
Jackson, man to man, I love you!
You’ve brightened, soothed, excited, healed, and expanded my experience of life (62 yrs now 🙏🏻). The world is a much better place because of all you do and all you’ve done. Thank you for sharing your God given musical gifts with us all.
Thank you.... sometimes we just want to hear the tune and just run the words in our heads...
This! Is! Fantastic!!! ❤
Timeless One of my all time favorites!!
Back in the day our band covered “Running on empty” every time I hear it I return to the stage with my band mates. Up beat and punchy so much fun to play. Thanks for continuing to share your gift, poetic, soulful, timeless. You are the real deal Jackson
Any video footage of your band?
@@vindictivevillain unfortunately it was 8 mm back in the 70’s. Wish I did, thankfully UA-cam can bring back those days of great music!
@@ripburroughs no worries you Rock
My biggest regret was missing that concert in Vancouver BC....my bro and his wife showed up unexpectedly Fr out of town so I was a good sister and sold my tickets and missed the concert. Never got another chance to go to one of ur concerts again.....Damn.
Fr across the waters

🐥❣️🐥hugs to all
I'll never forget the first time I heard this album, on an FM station overnight AOR show in early 1978. I went to Tower Records and bought the vinyl the next morning. I've been in love ever since♥
Thank you for the music, and the photos. You've always attracted the best people to play with you, Jackson, because of the person you've always been. "From Silver Lake" was the first song of yours that I ever heard; I've been listening ever since. Who knows where the time goes? I still miss Sandy Denny, but I'm sure glad that we still have you with us.
Wow...such an amazing song! So many great memories. Thank u! 💓
Wow. Brings back so many great memories of what seemed like much better days.
Very cool. Thanks
I want to just give a hug to the 12 people who downvoted this. I feel like they need one badly

Been a fan since university days 1970 s , now I’m still a lawyer in love , standing on a corner.
I have been a fan since I first heard Doctor My Eyes. Running On Empty is my favorite album of all time but I do love everything you’ve done. I saw you in concert in Binghamton, NY for the Lawyers in Love tour. Your body of work is amazing! I salute your musical genius!
Love you. I from Thailand ❤️
Loved the view of " Putting it all Together "; as you prepare for Opening Night of such wondrous melodies and poetry awaiting your Audience. What a great homage to all those years ago♥️. Yore still fabulously talented and looking as ever, Jackson. Keep smiling. :) ☄☄☄☄☄🎸🎹🎼
Wonderful !
Love the musicianship, tunes & trip through a classic album. Miss the mellow voice & masterful lyrics. Got to go & listen to the full album again now!
The biggest fan in France ! 😂
Wouldn't of been much of a life w/out these guys growing up, thx💕
Greatest JB band of all time! Danny Kortchmar Guitar, Russ Kunkle Drums, Leland Sklar Bass, Craig Doerge Keyboards, David Lindley Lap steel, Rosemary Butler and Doug Haywood Background Vocals. We need a few shows of them all together including Lindley to top it off. They all can still play. I know JB has a different band and The Immediate Family ( Kortchmar Waddy, Kunkle, Sklar ) is just beginning to rock the music scene ..but come on.. JB, The Session including David Lindley, Waddy, Rosemary and Doug….What a show.....
Funny but someone else mentioned their dad introducing them to jackson...my dad had this record too..
I loved every song on this album. And it will always be a part of who I am. And who I wanna be
Thank you so much for all the memories
Thank you for everything you have given us Jackson over the past 50 years. This song especially was pivotal in my life at the time it hit the airwaves, and to this very day. What a beautiful way to wake up in the Sonoran Desert, you drop this on us, wow. I feel blessed to be able hear your life work pal.

One of the most beautiful albums ever... And I own the original vinyl. Great Jackson Browne! Thank you for your music.
I could see having this just playing on loop during a party if it were just a bit longer.
Thank you Mr Browne for all the memories your music conjures from the recesses of my mind.
This is the first album I bought. I have a lot of memories.
You're still a babe Jackson!

OH, HOW THIS MUSIC MATTERS!
Thanks...Beautiful❣
1977. Edwardsville, IL. Mississippi River Festival. Room 124 of our late, great Holiday Inn is remembered in perpetuity on the Running on Empty album.
Love!!! 💙💙💙
Saw him on his Running on Empty tour in Charlotte NC. Great great concert
I like this version, sounds great. Keep going, never ever stop these videos, they are fantastic♥️🎶🎸
I love it. All the beautiful instrumental parts nicely put together. I wish there was a DVD from this tour. The musicianship is (as always) outstanding.
Thanks for the memories JB. Been a huge fan since your 1st album. Been to about 10 events. Last one at Benaroya Hall eight years ago. First one was the Paramount from the corner of the second row! (too bad I went alone, but got me hooked) My favorite, and what a night, was in an old theater in Olympia. I couldn't have asked for a better play-list or performance ever!
What a song
For me…just like it was yesterday!
Wonderful musical montage of one of my favourite albums, firsti bought when i was 15, that's 33 years ago! It's been in my car for the last couple of weeks being played at full blast. It still sounds and feels as good as it did all those years back. I savour every sound you utter. Thanks for still being beautiful and helping me get through the ups and downs of life.

I've been a fan since 1977
Excellent montage, thanks. I wanted to add that although it's been said many times, it's hard to over-estimate what David Lindley brings to Jackson Browne's music. Such texture and soul. Always good to see him recognised as such a vital part of Jackson's work. Irreplaceable
I have bought Running On Empty 4 times. My original was on vinyl, 2 cassette tapes because I wore the first one out and ultimately the second one as well, then on CD. It's a keeper in my book.
Thanks for your comment and supports, your comments and constant support has brought me this far. Keep Supporting❤️
