- Today I am playing as Lithuania. No Step Back has added a new focus tree to Lithuania, one that lets you take over Poland peacefully. Let's push our luck and try to repel both the Soviet Union and Germany (who are going to attack us) at the same time. Can we succeed? Let me know what you like and don't like about the video, because I'm working on changing my content up a little bit.

I'm glad you posted this. I tried something similar with Latvia but relying on the Allies was my downfall. Seems the best way to survive is to pick Germany or Russia as your ally.
Same with poland, you have to take a side or you will die. The allies will never come.
@@Robert53area True! That's exactly how my first monarchist run went with them. I saw france naval invade Pomerania in Tureor's co-op vid so thought the AI was more supportive now... but no.
I'm not too sure about the Soviets, I've tried to help them hold Barb but so far it's been futile, the Soviet AI just folds in my experience. Especially since the Allies have become even more useless than before.
It's possible to survive as Latvia, but enemy easily bombing your trains and trucks, divisions beginning to lack of supply and you lose)
Think if research 1940 fighter in mid of 38 and produce by around 5-7 factories, it's becoming possible to hold your positions

Failed runs are also a good idea, several of the campaigns I do on Hoi4 are based on your videos and I am sure it would be very helpful to know what things can go wrong
With the new dlc, everything can go wrong.
I am struggling to keep all the industry and infrastructure up, at the same time the AI is printing out units like, Detroit used to build cars.
I have these same feelings, that failing campagne could be very interesting :) I wanna see it as well :)
I am failing so bad at trying to make a communist polish Lithuanian commonwealth.
Because if done right, it was called the people's commonwealth and had an awesome red white and blue flag. But the new DLC, changed how poland goes communist, and you now need 80 percent compliance from Lithuanian. So conquering doesn't work it takes too long. The world is at war by then.

I would like to see more of these so-called failed games I would also like to see you successful defense I think it'd be very interesting. Watching your videos helps me learn other Paradox games
danzig or war can't happen if you form the PLC since poland has to be the one to own danzig for that focus, not lithuania.
Giving Germany memel and having them bypass danzig or war by annexing poland is a good way to go with this.
Found this on my first playthrough as lit, makes the game super easy. They'll probably patch it tho.
Also you can remove the facotrys from memel when they ask for it so they get crap from it

glad you shared this one, it shows that even good players sometimes lose wars. if you do post enough of these failed runs it will keep us wondering if you won or not and not just assume you won because you uploaded it.

It adds some narrative tension to all of your games if we don't know whether you'll win or lose... I think it's a good idea to post these
I've spent the entire time the DLC has been out trying to keep Poland alive with out going full offensive and just trying to Defend the river lines in Central Poland,
And you're gunna mad lad the damn thing as Lithuania.

I like the failed run videos. Ita interesting to see how strats changed with the new DLC. I did my tried and true "form Austria-Hungary" strat yesterday but my supply was completely destroyed by the luftwaffe, so they pushed back my defensive line and I lost. Damn allies sent planes to my land but pulled them out when france capitulated
I enjoyed the video. I feel helping Czechoslovakia would have been key. It made you waste a lot of industry building forts along a massive border. Instead you could have been building forts in the Soviet border.
This was incredibly interesting to see since I'm still new at the game. More games where it ends as a loss but with the insight on the bad decisions would be great
im first game in the new DLC was a lithuania the best way in my opinion to play it is to give up memel to the germans and form the commonweath after the molotov pact as poland no longer exists germany wont get a war goal on you and they wont justify on you, you can then focus on the soviets, all i needed to beat them was 3 stacks of inf divs built for forest tiles and a full colab gov spy operations and you can easily just push to moscow and take all of the soviets, after that you can turn your focus on the Axis. suppy planes and railway arty are the way to go, i didnt even build an airforce for my run.
90%+ of my playthroughs are failures because I'm always trying new things, so it's nice to see that not all of yours are wins.
You can’t imagine how grateful I am you posted this…I had the same thing happen but as the full PLC (I failed to defend Soviet border in time). Felt really bad but seeing that it can happen to you makes it all better. Thank you!!!
Seeing failures is just as, if not more interesting as successes! As long as they're titled or labeled as failures, so I know what I'm getting into, I'd love to watch the more interesting failed attempts!
I would also like to see more videos like this. Learning from what doesnt work is often better than learning from what works, altho both are good. Also, every Taureor video is a plus, so I'd wish you to upload all of your games to be fair.
Disaster Save a campaign with Lithuania in it, like Alex The Rambler has done with The British Empire saving it from Soviet Union.

I tried this with latvia as ostland after usa beat Germany. 1948 is my record (germany gone in 45)
The answer of the question is obviously yes but the title is not a clickbait, it is a legitimate question in normal conditions anyway we are talking about taureor ! He would win in HOI4 even with Liechtenstein. In conclusion I just want to say that I started playing HOI4 because of your videos
Failed runs are still great videos. We still learn more about your strategies and the new DLC, and it's still incredibly entertaining
I think you should post the failed stuff as well. Its good if you win but its super entertaining and funny when things fail and all just gets hard af😂.
Just saw a short where a guy playing as Austria was prepared for war with Germany and got Anschlussed and he just quits the game in rage probably🤣🤣
You could've pulled out of Germany and defend the soviet side once you noticed that they didn't have the wargoal anymore

forming the commonwealth would mean that you're facing the german frontline headon while also doing the same against the soviets

This may have been a fail, but it was an interesting fail. It wasn't even that you played badly, perhaps not perfect, but certainly quite well, you were just between a rock and a hard place quite literally, and seeing you try to salvage it was pretty cool.
Yeah dude post this stuff. I'm always taken back back huge vanilla dlc trees like the ottoman empire but when you play it. It makes me play a country I otherwise would usually never play.
I would love to see failed games aswell since that would probably result in more content and thats always a good thing
The title makes me think of a Honey Badger stuck between a Lion and a Hyena, win or lose nobody is walking away unscathed.

Failed runs are pretty good way to improve eachother, otherwise you gotta wait for a guide for ages.
I've played Lithuania about 6 times and tried a few different paths. I'd like to see you try again and make it work. Also the achievement "this is LIT" or whatever because that's what I'm struggling with. Basically Germany wrecks me because I've been re-forming the commonwealth and they won't accept a non aggression pact even with diplomatic pressure from my agency.
I think if you form the PLC and cede memel you don't get attacked by Germany as their war goal focus is cancelled; a prerequisite is 'Poland exists' (which it wouldn't)
The USSR has NKVD advisors which increase the probability of your agent being captured. It's virtually guaranteed unless you recruit local operatives.

The Allies can't protect you in the Baltic Sea if Germany controls the Kiel Canal. For some reason the game blocks ships from entering those zones even though there is another route around Denmark.
I like your idea... It'd be nice to see what could go wrong on a playthrough followed by a stream where you get things right
I enjoy failed runs. Would have like to see maybe a few more months of the fail though

This was a nice, enjoyable failure, because you pointed out exactly what you did wrong and how to avoid it. That can be more instructive for people trying to learn how not to be bad at this game (me).
Challenge: annex the Soviet Union as Iraq. Before you do this, you must restore Arabia (do the desision).
I know you don't like advice, but please spread your operatives out. 100% netwerk in effected areas takes away enemy entrenchment and/or planning bonus! It has both hampered and helped my campaigns out significantly
Why wouldn't I like advice? :) I try to remember that, but sometimes I concentrate them on purpose to unlock operations faster
@@Taureor Ah sorry, it must just have been me misremembering who said that. How big is the speed increase on network gain when you concentrate the operatives? I haven't really tested that.
Failed games seems like a very interesting idea, I would be ok with it
If you shift-right click to drag a field marshal front line, the game will organize the units in the army group as if they were all in a single army, so you won't have the issue where an army is left defending 2 provinces instead of 1 and creating an unbalanced frontline.

I really enjoyed it because it failed. I learned more from this save than from the other video's in which you succeed

I enjoyed this. These failed games could be a very interesting thing. Obviously apply your discretion if one of them is interesting enough but yeah, this was fascinating to see.

I just did a similar run but non historic. Poland was my puppet but Germany never declared on them. I was at war with both Russia via soviet Estonia and Germany who wanted Memel. But I never called in Poland. Germany went and took Russia via Romania. It ended up being a long drawn out fight against Germany around Leningrad for no real reason, neither side winning. The allies were 100% useless for me too. But it was a surprisingly fun run, my army was only 280k men but I had a lot of fire power on a small front. Man for man stronger than the Germans. Lithuania has options for sure.

I love seeing the failed ones! It adds a lot of tension not knowing if the good guy is going to win or lose!
By annexing Poland it would have been beneficial to you most likely, also trying to gain Czechoslovakia would have been a better idea. However the start location being Lithuania does make it rather hard to do much more. Regarding the Allies, well to be fair, they do need to pass Germany to come to you. So a lot of ships may get lost that way. But if you would to ask convoys if that's a option, then it might gain some much needed weaponry and armor. It would at least give a better chance to keep both Germany as Russia away from you for longer. At some point you might even be able to take over land south, meaning Hungary and Romania for example. More land does mean more troops which on turn means you will be able to do a lot more. Perhaps even attack Germany
I like failed ones too, always something to learn and it's always still entertaining :)

Success or failure your videos are great keep on posting even if it fails
If you form the Commonwealth, the Germans bypass Danzig or War because it requires Poland to exist. and once you've annexed them, they count as Lithuania
Failed games are fine. As long as there is enough content before it fails, it doesn't really make that much difference if it ends in success or failure. If anything failed runs would be more interesting since most other content creators also seem to not post failed runs.

I exile voldermort wait for facism to creep up then do the lithuanian volunteer corp thing just below it, it gives 1% recruitable pop and it stays post iron wolf being terminated.
It's an additional 70 days, but for a future 1m manpower, I think it is worth it. Essentially like changing from volunteer to limited conscription for 70 PP
fails are also good to watch and to learn something from it

Here's an interesting question, and possibly a challenge for Taureor. Is it possible to play as Poland for example, not enter Allies, Axis or Comintern at any point, Fight them all at the same time, and win? Or at least survive?

Once you do the restoration of the commonwelth focus germany will just bypass the danzig or war focus
If you get the pu over Poland before Germany asks for land it will cancel the focus for them and then bypass it
"Wheelchair Mode" challenge:
As the USA or Soviet Union, take over continental Europe without using a single unit that fights on foot. Tanks and armoured vehicles, aircraft, ships, espionage, and diplomacy are all allowed, but infantry, motor inf, mech inf, artillery, cavalry, etc are banned. You may still use these units, but only if the division is set to Area Defence.

Would like to see him try Estonia in to Nordic Empire and then beat germany and the soviets.
When I did this I gave up Memel and Danzig (temporarely of course) and fought the soviets killed them and then went after the axis
