Skunk2 Intake Manifold Install & Review | 10th Gen Honda Civic FC3

- Опубліковано 2 лип 2024
- Skunk2 Racing has released their intake manifold for the 10th Gen 1.5T Honda Civic and we installed one on Project FC3 to see how it performed with the stock turbo. With a baseline dyno pull logged, we did the install and were surprised how well the bigger unit performed.

Speaking about high altitudes, using parts like bigger intake manifolds where the air is thin and less dense is a definite cause for performance loss. The commentary about that at 20:38 has gotta be the most underrated I've seen so far, given that few outside the auto industry (and in it) know this fact.
FINALLY! EDGELORDS ASSEMBLE
I don't own a Honda or plan to purchase one. However, as an ST owner, I support the channel and the effort it takes to make these videos. I know a comment and a thumbs up will "boost" the algorithm... See what I did there?
Isn't it time you guys came up with a sticker, a shirt, a cap, or all of the above that reads: "Tune it, or lose it... Gain the Edge @ Edge Autosport".??? Huh?... Just a suggestion. Sorry, I love the fragrance of racing fuel, regardless of the time of day or season. 😜😜
We appreciate that! And...that idea has me thinking....

Love this manifold got this on my fk7 civic one of my favorite mod
You guys should throw a Vargas GC+ on the car with that manifold. Would love to see the gains.
I installed that manifold 2 years ago, and I love it.
Was install hard since they don’t provide the hoses or did they provide you with hoses ?
@@kylegentles2270 it wasn’t hard, just time-consuming, I only bought 1 for the throttle body, and for everything else, I used what I had. I have the PRL piping.
How much power you making ?
@@kylegentles2270 FBO 255hp on 93oct and stock turbo.
Yo answer some questions please... Did you "have" to get a port injection kit? Did you get a bigger throttle body? How is the power and gas mileage
Installing mine right now! Thanks for making this video! Subbed🍻🔥🥳
Let us know how it goes! What's your build?
I have rv6 turbo and all the prl boltons... Not sure if this is worth the hassle. Hope yall get a bigger turbo soon and make a video on it.
Hello, good afternoon, I would like to know where I can get that gasket that goes between the accelerator body and the intake body.
Use the rv6 ball bearing turbo. Drops in, comes with fresh replacement parts for the oil and gaskets. You will be happy with it. I run it at 18psi and make 292 full bolt ons. 261 at the wheels on a mustang dyno.
We are now an RV6 dealer...
Really want to see this mod with a big turbo
Us too. We'll do it soon enough. I might take it back off and do the comparison again with a big turbo. The install isn't crazy
me too! i have the prl turbo kit (2860gen2) but not sure if i would need a re-tune after installing this. since it's after the MAF and the air measurement is all the same i dont see a need but im not a tuner. :)
What happen to your HKS blow off valve?
I want to buy this but can you guys provide me a extra hose like you used in the video with my order ? I’ll pay whatever it takes
Wasn't D Rob an advocate on how useless this bolt on was? Looks like it's a worthwhile purchase after all.
Love rhe headlights on the civic, what brand is making those
Long ago discontinued Morimoto headlights
These are discontinued. But we now carry these which are pretty cool. - edgeautosport.com/olm-gamma-series-rgb-headlights-honda-civic-all-including-type-r-2016-2021/
damn fc3 ♥️ btw u guys running catless or catted ?
The car is currently in off road only mode 🧐
Can you guys make a video showcasing how you have the Mishimoto Catch can installed/paired with the PRL Flex Fuel Kit? Currently I have just the PRL Flex Field Kit but I want to have the Mishimoto Catch Can as well but haven’t found much info on how to have the both installed together
Truth is, they don't install together. We had to modify the bracket on the Mishimoto can to move it over. I believe it was just welding on a little more metal, then painting it to match. Wasn't crazy, but would not install together unless we did that.
@@EdgeAutosport I seen you also uploaded a video on your channel a while back show casing this exact scenario so thank you! I’m looking to get a catch can here soon! Love the FC3 content keep it coming please!
@@HueyPNathanI made a video on how I put mine in. Had it on my car with the flex fuel kit for over a year! 15 cent mod lol
That’s why I got the Siri flex fuel kit and it pairs perfectly with my Mishimoto catch can.
Looking at the graph, there is no gain but you loose spool and some mid torque at the same boost level, so that means there is no flow bennefit at this stage. No go for a stock turbo. But would be interesting to see a big turbo and how it affects both sides of the powerband.
Correct! Big turbo is in the works
I didnt see one..did y'all do a Focus ST intake manifold upgrade? Im looking for a 500whp set up on my big turbo and I havent seen anything on the factory manifold restrictions.
ua-cam.com/video/Zrw9T4uhF2s/v-deo.html
@@EdgeAutosport i watched that one already (and again), i didnt see a mention for the intake manifold specifically..or throttle body. I'm guessing they are capable of those power numbers and are not a bottle neck. I have the BNR3071 and I would like to hit the 500whp mark just as a goal..plus saying your Focus ST makes 500 hundred at the wheels just sounds awesome 😅
Is there any research, conclusions or thoughts on using this manifold purely as a mitigation approach to gunk build-up?
I don’t know what I don’t know on this, but I do know my stock 1.5T runs horribly after 80k miles. Despite my best efforts, it’s pretty clear (to me) that the engine’s design flaw (preventing self-cleaning behind the intake valves) is rearing its head.
While I wouldn’t expect the manifold to change the outcome of the aforementioned, are there any other benefits that it would bring in the way of build-up earlier in the flow path? Access to valves?
Showing my desperation here. The car has been paid-off, and I really want to overcome the issues I’ve been experiencing out-of-warranty. Thanks.
Start by testing the integrity of everything, compression, vacuum, etc. Then sure, replacing old gross parts with shiny new clean ones should help, especially a turbo...
What throttle body gasket did you guys use for the s2 manifold?
The Kit comes with a thick one to help separate the manifold from the heat of the block
Port injection next
Friend, is it AWD? What conversion did you use? how did you do it ?
Not AWD. The Dyno spins the rear wheels.
put a vargas gc+ turbo on it
yeah those bolts under the manifold... that'd be a 'no' from me dog. Tidy job though, lads.
Is this manifold removal the same step as a fk8?
This was done on a 1.5T engine and the FK8 is a 2.0T so there are most likely some differences. The concept will be very similar, but there are sure to be some differences.
Would this would with the 2.0 N/A?
Nahh just the 1.5t
You really need the turbo for it to be worth it, and a bigger than stock one will be best.
