  • Grammy-winning singer and songwriter India.Arie joins “Tamron Hall” for a candid conversation about her career and experiences in the music industry. She says circumstances over the years have left her to believe that the industry is “racist, sexist, and deceitful.” Also, recently announcing that she’ll be pulling her catalog and podcast from Spotify, the 20-year music veteran details how the platform’s support of podcaster Joe Rogan led her to this new revelation.

      Yes, she was. That year...the Grammy's gave all the top honors to Alicia Keys. Don't get me wrong, Alicia's song Fallen was great, but India's record was inspirational and uplifting of Black Women....especially our brown skin sisters who are often over looked in the entertainment industry. Life isn't easy, but never let anyone stop your dream. Remember, if you have a Dream chase it because that Dream will not chase you back. Many people didn't chase their Dreams and have regrets. No matter if India's Dream isn't what she wanted it to be, she still chased it. If you have real talent you don't have to sale SEX (Unless you are in the porn industry...and then of course you are selling SEX). There seems to be two (unofficially- at least when it comes to the females) music industries. There is one of true talent (Such as Ms. Arie, Jill scott, Anita Baker, Jennifer Hudson, Erykah Badu and more) and then there is one of the pseudo-music (couldn't sale a record without exposing, gyrating some body parts...just overall mentally and physically degrading themselves)- The world doesn't need to see your breast, vagina, or buttocks in the flesh to determine whether or not you can sing! A voice of beauty invokes the mind to create its vision of a beautiful scene based on the melody that the singers voice carries...
    Once again, Thank you Ms. Arie for sharing REAL MUSIC with the world!

      You know sometime in the past I might have agreed with you, she definitely helped in loving my 4C hair and appreciate myself more. But now I honestly can't take her seriously especially after the spotify debacle 5months ago and only to look her up today and realise all her music is still back on. Despite how strongly she spoke up and how she presented herself as sincere make me think this was nothing more than she wanted more money and doesn't actually care about the principles she puts out. This is why I don't put anyone on a pedestal cause everyone has the potential to behavior based on their self interest rather that what is "right".

Like she said “I can’t just say oh well that’s how it is ANYMORE.” Almost like what’s happening in the NFL. No one is going to choose to stop watching it. We have cancel culture but we use it to destroy people instead of corporations, which doesn’t make sense to me. As long as they can cash out and get it swept under the rug, they will.

I’ve already seen them use a clip from this out of context and said she’s leaving because of Rogan Also, more people watch Rogan than Questlove, which might be why he gets more money, however, I’d like to support QuestLove because I’m sure anything he does is wonderful! I think more artists need to be more publicized and supported.

      I think Joe Rogan would feel immensely honored to have India Arie on his podcast to express whatever her heart desired, especially right now, but her issues are not primarily with Joe, they are with Spotify. And really they're not with Spotify as much as they are with society and the reality of fallen humanity at large, which all of these other things are simply reflections of. I've loved her music and her heart for many years, but the complications of the world are not in place to preserve a childlike sense of innocence but to mature a God surrendered human being to a full level of love as I believe was demonstrated by Christ, who was mistreated, betrayed and killed...something worse than India or any of us have experienced. That's my opinion.

    • @rembeadgc
      @rembeadgc 2 роки тому

      @River Lette I don't think anyone is saying they love that. The truth is that at certain times in our lives we have all said something disparaging about someone else or even a group of people. None of us want to be judged for things we might have said in a less than kind and conscientious moment. The better thing to do is to look at the sum of one's opinions, in different contexts in order to discern what one's philosophy of life is and values are. I'm not a subscriber to Joe Rogan but I do check out him along with everyone else and I feel I can confidently say that he is no more guilty of the sins that he's being accused of than anyone else. And I've seen plenty of evidence that his opinions are contrary to the way he is being portrayed.

    • @dpcisunbreakable
      @dpcisunbreakable 2 роки тому

      @So Juorn Er The the the problem here is that Mr. Rogan States many disparaging and unkind things on a regular basis that are attention seeking and ruffled the feathers of many people that he offends. It's pretty much his way of creating controversy.
