  • In this video, Corin demonstrates the process of creatively reshaping a Scots pine that was previously left to grow freely. The tree was initially chosen for its distinct and unique form, which we have aimed to highlight in our design. Corin conscientiously considers the positioning of each branch and articulates his approach while manipulating them. Working with this particular material was truly enjoyable as it constantly challenged us to refine our design.

    The owner will be tickled to death with what you’ve done, one of the best styling I’ve seen in my five years being educated by the bonsai community

    This job is what separates the big boys from the amateurs. If You flopped this tree in front of me I'd probably have a panic attack about what to do with it. Good job man!

    I really appreciate the explanation and instruction on what you are doing. For someone like me just learning and struggling to vision what the tree should or could look like , artists like yourself are a real asset to my journey in bonsai.

    Thank you for this and for all the videos you do for us all Corin and the team. I have returned to Bonsia after a break now i have retired but first started in the late 80s. The only way you could see practical demos like this in those days was to wait for a visit to the monthly Bonsia meeting and even then it may not have been a relevant demo. I was luck to see your dear father Harry on a couple of occasions at the midland bonsai society and his demos were always packed to the rafthers I have learnt so much from watching your vidoes and it has re-inspired me to take up this wonderful pastime again. I continue to watch them daily and i am sure i speak for many when i say thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. You are a true inspiration Fella.

    What a fantastic tree 🙏
    If it was me i would have left that middle live branch to make more of a visual link between the left and right of the tree. With it gone the left and right of the finished tree look a bit seperate from each other.

    • @greenwoodbonsaistudio
      @greenwoodbonsaistudio  5 місяців тому +2

      Yes, it certainly had lots of options, The problem with leaving it was that I felt it obscured the movement and twisty character of the rest of the tree.

    Wonderful job Corin! Thank you for the the many tips you shared while styling. I have an old Mugo Pine that has been grown as a landscape tree for 25 years but has become quite scraggly and overgrown. I plan to transplant it into a container this spring and see how I might begin its training. Thanks again.

    What you did with this tree is amazing. I must say, however, that I liked the look of the lower, left-most branch at 13:15 minutes into the video better than at the end. It provided a lot more directionality and movement throughout the entire tree.

    I think the wire scaring will in time look good especially when you see wild Scots pines that grow in coastal areas they the bark on branches and trunks can be very knarlred due to winds cracking and twisting branches

    £10 says the owner leaves it in the garden, lets the wire cut in and don't bring it back to be worked on again until it looks like crap again. Either that or sells it on.
