Corin, I’m glad I found your site and enjoy your videos. I met your father at one of his workshops in Vermont USA back in 2002. Great experience and his signed book is a treasure. When I moved I got rid of my collection but now at 78 I’m starting up again thanks to you and your excellent instruction.
Despite Josh forgetting to push the On button for a few minutes, he does a superb job of actively following Corin's actions and really showing us what we want and need to see. Well done, Josh!
The history is always my favorite, I love old bonsai magazines, reading and marketing material. It's really cool that your father made the tree, you have the tree, and the magazine it's featured in. Very unique story.
Amazing video! And no harm was done for not having recorded the beginning of reporting. Things like that happen, and it is normal... Keep up the good work boys.
Appreciate the sense of continuity and history you bring to your work Corin through obvious respect and love of the art. Factors of the past figuring into the present as shown in the trees gives a much more complete picture of each "gem in a pot!" Thank you!
Hi am learnìng so much from you ,like your running comentry as you work, I started bonzai a little late in this life looking forward to everlasting life with time to see my work progress .Thanks for the injoymemt now at 87 years
I love this refferance to you're father corrin I met him in the 90s I feel so lucky to have met such an influencial guy the natwest advert made in th 80s is where I first saw you're father what an actual true legend of the British bonsai world
Every time I see a larch, I think MY FAVORITE bonsai. To be fair, I think that about every other bonsai I see, but none more than larches; I don't think I've seen a larch I don't like... My favorite bonsai at home are all...larches. I think that's who I've become and it aint bad.
brilliant ive got a very old larch ..bought from corrin for £8 when he was young and his dad was doing a display at the garden centre ..between derby/nottingham back in the day it was the first bonsai corin ever sold ( remember him asking his dad can he take the money ) as harry was busy..its now nearly 3ft high with a loverly spread ( heavy as hell to move ) needs 2 of us ..lol
2:11 The same is true for Pennsylvania - Japanese Larch have been used extensively to reforest mining areas in northeast PA, and the larches folks are collecting for Bonsai are from this region, in my sphere, anyway.
Love the tree and the pot , both beautiful and the history of the tree's is amazing really is great to hear and see how the tree's have aged and progressed. Another fab video!
Absolutely a better pot for it. The original pot dwarfed it, and made it look like it was coming out of jumper that was too large around the neck. Did you ever record the repot of the Paul Goth 2nd cascade larch? Curious to see if it got a new pot as well. Thank you.
Well done that man...really great demo of re potting and i look forward to my first year of re potting my trees...only young trees...so only some of them need doing...thanks for the inspirational video, take care ... see ya on the next video, a t b.. Gordon.
Nice Larches, specially the half cascade. Interesting about the differences between species…can you identify a future cone from a normal bud?Thank you, regards from Barcelona!👋
What a great learning experience this was, unfortunately it is not a species that I can use in south Florida but enjoyed the video! Now I am going to check out those new potting sticks!

Not just an interesting and informative session about re-potting but also a lesson in how important the pot/tree combination is to the overall image. Also an illustartion that "rules" aren't really rules but guidelines - in this case when it comes to positioning trees in pots pragmatism won the day and the result is just stunning.
It still amazes me how early trees come into leaf in England, while up in the Scottish Islands many trees don't come into leaf until mid April through into May
@@KitakuBonsai very short but with a couple extra hours of daylight each day it helps the trees gain the extra nutrients they need for a strong root system. I keep my smaller trees in a pollytunnel now as I was given 10 year old acer trees that still looked like saplings and in 3 years the trunks are now 2cm from 0.8 cm
Thanks for the video Corin I have repotted mine just one more to check if it needs repotting, I have always believed that the cones on Japanese larch the plates curl at the top whereas the European larch have flat plates, also the bark as you say on new shoots is darker on the Japanese Larch. Looking forward to come to Greenwood’s soon.
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio Corin. You are awesome to reply back. Have you or will you come to America to do some Demos or go visit Bjorn or Ryan Bonsai Garden?
Always love any tree u work on! With temps here in the USA fluctuating soo much and me doing an approach graft on a japanese black pine if i did it now would i run into problems with the sap flowing or do i wait for it to get colder again and then graft? Would the sap flow with just a few days almost hitting 60 degrees f?
Love your videos Corin, but it would be nice to see younger trees under five years old. It would help an old pensioner on a budget like me, who will never see my little trees reach maturity. Thanks Corin.
Apologies Corin, I usually don't have problems understanding folks from the Mansfield area but can I ask what the name of the guy who did your dad's photography is please? You mentioned him at roughly 5:27 in the video. I would like to try and find the book he wrote if there are still any copies around anywhere.
Honestly never knew, im one of those who always thought any Larch collected in the UK was a European Larch. I wasnt aware japanese Larch were used for forestry here. Interesting
I’m a new Bonsai enthusiast . I found it to be a meditative undertaking as well as an artistic expression . Your videos are inspiring . Thank you .
Hi, didn't know your father was Harry. His book was the reason I truly fell in love with bonsai 20 years ago. Thanks for that.
Thanks that's

The pot chosen greatly “enhances” this beautiful Larch. You have done it again!
Like magic!!
Corin, you da man. Thanks for all that you do sir. Enjoy the early spring haste!
Hope your spring is going well too!
What a treat watching this repot. The tree looks awesome in that pot. Thanks for sharing 🌲🪴🌳👩🏻🌾
It’s a beautiful combination 😍

Wow! What a cool recollection!!!
Greenwood is the only guy that shows you how tough bonsai really are. People are so sensitive about it
Thanks Corin for another awesome video. Stunning larches.
I second that!!
Glad you are busy mate! God bless you!
Wonderful video Corin, and what a lovely pot for the tree. Thank you.👍
Omg that looks so much better in that pot what a great potter. 🎉❤

Great save from the non record. Love every min of greenwood bonsai. Hope to come visit one day. Bit hard living in Australia.❤😂
Quite the distance there!! Maybe some day!
The new pot is a definite improvement on the original. It looks great now.

Hey Dave! I’m in PA too! Do you have any good places to look for material??
YIKES! Those are some beautiful specimens. I always love seeing your collection. Just amazing. Thanks, keep growing
Fantastic repot...your experience and commentary is so valuable... love the new pot!
Great video, tree looks amazing. Probably see you in about a fortnight.
Herzlichen Dank für die Show. Olaf aus dem Grünen
The tree looks majestic in its new pot. Looking forward to seeing how it responds this spring and summer.
Me too! I’m thinking it’s gonna look fantastic by then!
Brilliant my friend!🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Corin. Lovely trees.
Great video as ever with amazing trees. I always imagine an assistant having to dig you out of bonsai soil at the end of the day of reporting.
😂😂😂😂 for real though!!
Nice tree and nice video!
Absolutely beautiful tree 🌳 great explanation and camera work too
It’s a gem!

Sin duda, el árbol gana muchísimo en esa nueva maceta. Es un fantástico conjunto.

Spot on. Take all the ‘rules’ with a grain of salt
💚

Seems like a pretty short growing season there huh?

Thanks for the Repot Lesson Corin , wish you would Have try the Deeper Pot to see how it Looks.. but it his your Tree. Peace Be With You
The deeper pot it came out of was to oppressive, that's why I used the other one.

Hard to tell, but over in the UK, Pines I have tried today are pushing well.

I see your point. Hope you’re doing well otherwise!
My son bought your dad's book for me and I have that photograph...
I've got a Larch that doesn't seem to want to drop its needles for a few years now. Any idea why that is?
Is it definitely a larch and not a cedar, they can look similar to an untrained eye.

It was Paul Goff
