My top song is also from Gang of Youths, though for me it's In The Wake of your Leave. That song never stopped blowing me away across the whole year.

Fantastic list, dude. I called your #1 haha that song is on my own best list. I liked it ALMOST as much as in the wake of your leave, and the album is one of my favorites this year - between it and the Deaf Havana one, it may be a tossup.
I'm not as adept on 2022's releases as much as I've just dove into album adventures spanning decades, the best thing I heard this year was "The Way We Talk About a Song". I can't convince anyone else it's not boring commercial-core played ultimately safe. But I read between the lines, related it to me, and felt every moment in my soul.
I had no idea what number one was gonna be but when it came on I just smiled. One of my favorite songs of the past five years.

In general I’d say that I have listened to a lot of German songs this year, mostly rap (Peter Fox and Casper), rock (Kraftklub) and hyperpop (Domiziana and Dilla).
Seeing Deaf Havana on this list always makes me smile out of pure happiness. They deserve so much more success and if they are breaking up than what a way to go out ❤️
Great to see some Orville Peck here! Bronco is one of my fave albums of 2022 for sure, I think my personal fave might be Let Me Drown (was listening to the album today and I just lay on the floor for that one, man it HIT lmao)

I personally think that Deaf Havana's 'The Present Is A Foreign Land' is my best album of 2022, straight after I heard it and followed by Architects' 'The Classic Symptoms Of A Broken Spirit' in second and First Aid Kit's 'Palomino' in third place and some of their songs would hit my Best Of List from those albums.

Everything Everything had a ridiculous year. HEX was also awesome from that record, but Cut UP! is my favorite song of the year overall, let alone my favorite on the album. Crazy work from the band. I will say, I find myself humming My Computer regularly though. It’s so catchy.

Never really connected with the Ethel Cain album, but I do fully understand the hype. That being said, I am *FULLY* aboard for the Gang of Youths love this year. That album wowed me.
I had the joy of seeing them on tour for this record and goddamn was it special. Angel in Realtime is a masterpiece and the band made something near-perfect and so beautifully personal.
