At 7:06 I cover how Steinberg "ruined" the TAB navigation in plugin menu. In fact, they IMPROVED it: you now just use the arrow keys. It's a great improvement! I corrected this in part 2: ua-cam.com/video/MeKE_1fF-Fk/v-deo.html
Yes ... These are the actual improvements that we want and want the youtubers to make videos about. Thank you. I was disappointed that cubase 14 didnt have the actual improvements and the same boring new plugins stuff.
My pleasure for real! Part II is up: ua-cam.com/video/MeKE_1fF-Fk/v-deo.html In my first-take livestream, I felt like maybe this was more of an x.5 release for pros, but the changes they made are I'm all the right places. I bought it 48 hours after the video lol
Sigh. The voiceover clip was muted by accident here😪. It's mostly cosmetic with CR. Higher-contrast volume pots; each bus gets its own little meters to show activity; levels controls changed to be more visual; etc. I'll get this into part II video
@@dahlhousestudios allright! I thought you had discovered a secret way to quick-configuring all cue levels, convenience is everything with that, getting a friendly level quickly for my singer is important. at this stage I often just feed him master-cue + "more me"!
@@realraven2000 I should do a quickie Control Room Cue Sends vid. 🤔 So, other than the new mini-level-meters, Cues work the same. BUT! In this vid you do get to witness how I quickly setup Cues for my talent: 1. Select all tracks you want to send 2. opt+shift to activate temporary Q-Link 3. (while holding opt+shift) activate Cue1 (This will activate Cue1 on all Q-Linked tracks) 4. use mouse-wheel/trackpad to slide sends up to -6 or so 5. activate pre-fader on sends 6. adjust individual sends from there, if necessary. OPTIONAL: Add a clipper/limiter to Cue1 in the CR Inserts if you need to maximise signal to talent. Most of my vocalists end up preferring little-to-no FX so I leave those out of the Cue unless requested, plus I like building the boardmix while they're in the booth tracking-I experiment with reverbs, throw delays, doublers, etc., so sending main mix is not an option for me (since they'll hear every change I make and be like, "WTF dude?!?") Sending pre-fader allows me to get a great-sounding mix built-up before they finish takes. They come back and go, "WHOA!".
@@dahlhousestudios very cool - since I have a Steinberg UR824 I usually use hardware compression / brightness / reverb from the dsp to make sure they hear themselves in the mix, yeah I wouldn't be brave enough to try sends + stuff during tracking. I would usually only go as far as the main group mixes (drums / bass/ guit / keys / backing vox maybe) and set the cues there just to avoid micro-management. nothing killing the vibe having to select 80 tracks (even with quick link) because it can still go wrong, the mix subgroups usually have all the specific mix FX baked in so it's close to the final mix but I can just drop out a group (e.g. less guitars!) with a single cue slider. I would have to look into Pre-Fader to see if that is an advantage.
@@realraven2000 UR824 nice! I've got the MR816csx-but it's just preamps for my SSL 12 now. Steiny obsoleted the 816s by stopping writing drivers for it. Miss having that integrated DSP. 😪 Ha yeah, ability to mess around while tracking really depends on the projects. I do a lot of hip-hop and singer-songwriter, so it's stems or busses and a vocal or guitar mic. Everything goes into a template and the cues are set up already and only need some refining. With the Slate Virtual Mix Rack, I can even ADD plugins while tracking‚ so I've gotten pretty bold at mixing-while-tracking. It's worth it to see the client's face when they get out of the booth and hear a much more finished mix! But yeah, wouldn't want to get too crazy with it on a full-band session.
From what I`ve tested . Cubase DAW PROJECT feature able to import file which exported from BITWIG , But not yet understand when you have "strech and loop" parts . Studio ONE and even REAPER ( with help of free tool called project converter) working just fine
Ah OK, well that might explain my failure. Plenty of little time-stretched clips in that rock project I was trying to export! So you need a third-party tool for the other DAWs? Is it a plugin? An app? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Plugin Search Tab Ruined: irritating first - they've just removed the need for the tab key! Just arrows now. Took me a while to NOT press tab first ;-)
YESS Great minds think alike! I figured this out while making my new Neutron 5 video yesterday too! It's a great improvement and I'll add a pinned correction. I'll include it in my next Cubase video too. Thanks!
Hey! Do you mean that exporting from Cubase 14 to Studio One doesn't work? Or that Studio One's DAWproject exports also don't work? See pinned comment: they actually IMPROVED plugin search: no TAB needed anymore, just down arrows!😇 Control Room is mostly cosmetic, yeah. I like it a lot, but it's more of a x.5-level feature. The performance improvements and QoL stuff are the biggest deals for me. Are you going to update? 🤔 Thanks for watching and commenting!
Please, add chapters. It would make it easier to watch. (Oh, and 175 tracks is a monster project? The latest film score I worked on had close to 2000! It opens marginally faster.)
OK, Mr. Fancy Kilotracks… Your wish is my command! I'm glad you pointed it out. This was the second upload of this vid and I missed adding the chapters to it. DONE! Chapters are added. 175 tracks, with all sorts of VSTi and stacks of plugins and sends and etc, IS a big rock project! I know you VSL guys get up to some crazy stuff with your orchestral comps though, wow. I know that you have fancy tricks for getting the headroom to run so many VSTi. How do you do it? Maybe you could make a video about it (and definitely not forget to add chapter markers)? Thanks for watching, commenting, and catching that error for me!
