dude Cubase is absolutely cooking with this update! We've needed a simple volume plugin FOR SO LONG. Honestly, I have less and less of a reason to ever use Ableton again. THANK YOU STEINBERG
Same, I skipped Cubase 13 as it didn't really offer me anything I wanted.. but damn.. now the update costs twice as much as I missed a version.. but thinking I might have to do it just for the modulation.
@@snook-official it is not disable, but if you put on chanel couple plugins with latency and after that you want to modulate volume plugin, you will see that audio are out of sync. We have same situation in Ableton.
I just found your channel Chris, and glad I did. This is an excellent comprehensive explanation of the new features. I say that because you managed to explain things clearly, making it easy to absorb, but quickly too and covering the big array of new things. Just upgraded to 14 Elements due to the cheap price, and you have enticed me to try using Cubase again after years of swearing by and loving Reason, which I have up to 13 now. Great job and thanks.
I stopped the video at 42 seconds because the moving channel nightmare has been pee'ing me right off for years! So glad it's massively improved! Thanks, Chris!
Thank you for showing the ability to use multi out on the drum machine. I didn't see it in the Cubase channel tutorial video and thought it may have been an overlooked feature. Glad it's in there!
The massive improvement to the Score Editor based on the excellent Dorico was my primary reason for updating to Cubase 14, but thanks for this encyclopedic intro to all the other wonders too! A stunning update.
Yep.. I am sold. I just upgraded to 13 about 3 months ago, and when the update was announced, I did a sigh... Already? But Chris, this video swayed my opinion and I 100% see the value in the upgrade! So so so many features, I shouted at the video, YES! I'll save up some scratch, and upgrade ASAP! Thanks Chris & Steinberg!!!
Hey, I started my musical journey with Cubase on the Atari ST up to V3 I think, after using Presonus S1 for many years I've finally swcthed back to Cubase 13 and now 14!, i'm really enjoying how the features in Cubase have elevated my musical expression and possibilities. I finally feel my output can be more musical, creative and polished sounding with this DAW.
Just the ability to move channels around in the mix console hooked me. Been waiting for AGES for this. I will download the free trial (2 months isn't bad at all) but, as always, I'll wait for the sale. Thanks, Chris,
The range tools and the editing of audio events - That's the last of my Pro Tools envy gone. I've always had Cubase (since Atari ST days) but it took a back seat for years as my work used Pro Tools. What I loved about Pro Tools was the editing of audio on the timeline, the shortcuts and the ease with adjusting ranges and individual clips. When I moved away from working for others, I used Pro Tools for a while but their subscription model did it for me, I really hate subscription models. So I updated Cubase (which I hadn't done for a few releases) and reacquainted myself with it. Mostly I was pleasantly surprised but the range features were clunky and when I used my Pro Tools paradigm of working mostly with audio - even if from a VI - Cubase didn't feel as fast and clean as Pro Tools. But these changes do it for me! I'm gonna see if it makes sense to change around a few key commands to match my Pro Tools muscle memory on selecting etc ranges.
What a time to be alive for all musicians , with all the recent software updates. I just upgraded to studio one 7, but cubase 14 looks great as well 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My personal favorite are the Ableton and bitwig esque features and workflow improvements that actually make Cubase fun again for production and not just technical like protools. Might have to get a bigger monitor though like an ultra wide cause it's getting cluster phobic but nice work steinberg.
I wouldn’t get an ultra wide. Personally I need space top to bottom to see all my channels and also the bottom panel. I don’t need to see half an hour of my timeline at once though, so more space left to right isn’t that useful (at least to me). Maybe if you detach the mixer and put it in a separate window off to the side it could be helpful.
@@LuLeBeI agree bro, I’ve always had a smaller screen for my mixer in front and then a bigger one on top for the session view. That’s the way I like to work also 🤘
I work on 3 4k monitors .. the centre one has my main project window, the left monitor my main mixer window and the right hand monitor gives me plenty of space for opening up plugins etc. I hardly ever use the bottom panel, any extensions or editors that open up there i pop out to a different monitor
Excited about this one. That independent Volume tool and the updated Filter was a long time coming! Plus seems like they are paying attention to some of the other great features in other DAW's, like the modulation system in Bitwig. Thanks for the vid man!
i love all of the updates except for having to navigating to the left to use the gain knob of an audio clip, prefer the old dragging down from the middle but it's a nice update.
From the bottom of my heart: thanks for mentioning the part about hardware inputs not being exclusive to certain routing any more, I didn't see that anywhere else. This alone is like, finally! This freely routable audio now probably means that any audio track now can be sent to inputs of any other. But they'll probably save that for another update :)
Really nice overview!!! I have Nuendo, so will have to wait a bit, but I'm excited about this upgrade. Re music notation -- Cubase was already one of the few DAWs that had notation integrated into it. But I never found it terribly useful because it was pretty clunky compared to actual notation software, so typically when I used notated elements in my projects I just created the MIDI or audio in Dorico and imported it into Nuendo. But having Dorico's notation engine within Cubase and Nuendo will be a really significant improvement.
At last some poly rhythmic patterns and Euclidean madness with that drum machine.. Steinberg has woken up to creative production tools, great update, although I still think the price for an upgrade is a bit too steep.
The modulators, mixer and volume curve editor updates are my favorite. This puts Cubase in a league of it's own. It really does have the best of everything now. FL Studio, Ableton and ProTools type features have all been incorporated into this update.
Thank you very much for the explanation. Only two people on UA-cam can explain everything about Cubase , that would be Chris and Dom Sigalas.Thank you guys 👍👍👍
Damn this update brought me back from Ableton. I was missing the advanced modulation for so long and now I can finally have the same features in a even better way with Cubase. So exciting!
Very cool features, i tried them all today on a session and very impressed. Huge bug in the EQ window which hopefully gets hot-fixed immediately (copy, paste, invert, reset, save, and load of EQ presets not working. VST 2 support finally gone in this release which is a good thing.
They are now getting cross over to features in Ableton with the Modulators and the Drum track is very similar to using NI Machine as a plugin but better as you dont have to bother with the Sketchy Routing. Great Updates.
I'm going to buy this upgrade today. I'm hoping they added some more MIDIremote scripts, but if not that's OK since I've designed my own. Crude, but they work. Very nice that they let the user do that. Agree that this is a major update with many very useful features.
This is by far my favorite Cubase Pro update! I was about to buy a Valhalla shimmer for 100 bucks so the update cost me 100 less essentially! Hard to pick a favorite as there’s so many useful updates. I hope a stem splitter is in the works in the future.
Is there a way of quickly auditioning drum samples within the drum machine? For example, if I have a folder full of favourite snares - a way to easily scroll through them with a key press? Sampler track couldn’t seem to do this.
modulators addition is incredible -- been wanting that for years! can you add multiple samples per pad in the Drum Track and have them play "round robbin" or "random exclusive" like in groove agent?
I'm using BBC Spitfire orchestra and I'm experiencing latency issues. I was told I can use Track Delay Compensation: Use Cubase's track delay compensation feature. This can help align the samples correctly with your MIDI notes. Can you tell exactly how to open that dialog?
Well - regarding the lower zone mix console - I miss the option to show inserts or sends only (or option to hide volume faders) - without scrolling and enlarging the whole lower zone - now to be able to see all inserts for instance i must enalrage this lower zone almost 3/4 screen.
Aw really? That’s too bad. I had a hotkey for switching between tracks screen and mixconsole, enlarging it here is not really necessary. For people that use inserts creatively that is a big letdown
@@skeletonmodelI wish they gave an option to hide the volume faders at least - that would be enough in my case. You can show/hide other section (inserts, sends, routing etc) but faders are always visible.
Hmm...not a great deal there for rock producers (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) on first sight. The new drum machine looks to be the most interesting addition. I'll have to give this upgrade some thought! Love Cubase and Mr Selim's channel✌️😁
I recently & finally got Groove Agent 5 for laying down grooves like in ableton. This looks like what I need...so what's the true use case for GA? thanks in advance
Not sure if you know this but there are a lot more colours available than default.. You just need to go change the project colour setup, I admit I could use a different system but just in case you're still on the default 16 or whatever it is
BIG question - Mac updates vs New Cubase, what do we need to be aware of before updating Cubase/iMac - Sequoia 15.1.1 or newer - any issues to be aware of Thanks Bruce A.
I was so happy to see the modulators with Cubase 14. But unfortunately you cannot save them with FX Chain Presets or even Plugin Presets. Only with whole Track Presets and even there it is buggy. Hopefully they fix this soon.

Delay Shimmer - nice but already have valhalla Volume - I just use SONALKIS FREEG so don't need it. Media bay - Nice convenience improvements and other cosmetic stuff. Its nice but not really going to help me much... SO OVERALL I WOULD SAY CUBASE GETTING DESPARATE FOR NEW FEATURED SO PEOPLE KEEP SPENDING BUT I SEE NO REAL NEEDS HERE FOR ME. I"LL PASS ON THIS ON UNTIL IT RUNS ITS COURSE AND GETS CHEAPER. PERFROMANCE ENHANCEMENTS IS WHERE IM MUCH MORE INTERESTED IN AND THERTE WERE NOT ANY MENTIONED DAWPROJECT sounds great on paper but will it really work with more complex projects?
Cubase could always reorder mix channels but previously we had to do it on the project view - the new thing is just being able to do it in the mix window. Still a long-overdue feature.
A good shift for people who use samples. For me, it's about time they have improved the score editor. That's the reason why I've bough dorico lately it was 70% off...
