One of my fav reviewers. He Does not pander to the manufacturers and gives unbiased feedback. As a ‘23 M3C x drive owner, I wanted this AMG to be the best it could be. Puts pressure on BMW and Audi to continue to do better. But this effort just seems overly complicated with no soul. And way too heavy. I’ll stick with my M3 with its creamy smooth and perfectly balanced inline 6 S58.
It doesn't bother me that it's a 4 cylinder because it is fast, good on gas, good on handling, all wheel drive which means you can drive it all year round and I can go electric and have a quiet ride if I want too. It's every thing that I would want in a car. Yes it could be a little louder but the sound it comes with is OK with me. I feel the technology( F1 technology) of this car is amazing and I would get it if the price was lower. We should appreciate that we are getting F1 technology from F1 racing (which the competition doesn't have) instead of hating on it.
Indeed, what were they thinking of? It’s faster than the normal plug in hybrid, but the battery has 4x less capacity and more inconveniences. It’s also heavy as hell for a sports car (even with the smaller battery) and no V8, not even a V6. It’s literally the same displacement as a standard plug-in hybrid. Who will buy this? It’s pretty much a C45 AMG with a miserable battery attached to it, to cheat emissions and post official power figures that aren’t usable most of the time.
@@PaulTC97 No chip tuned B58 is getting you 670hp /750 ft-lb, sorry. Not sure it would even outhandle this on a track. This C63 may be a pig, but the weight is well distributed and it’s got tons of chassis modifications plus rear steering.

Nice review as always. The design looks really good and the interior also 🔥🔥 on my channel I have the 2017 c63s coupe and I never launched it or mess with the gadgets I just cruise and enjoy the sound and feel of the engine, switching from sport + to comfort with the valves open all day everyday lol
The very first moment I saw this car, I thought "IT DEFINITELY DESERVES A V8." I missed Thomas' classic intro... "In full HD(now 4k), full screen and full length. Let's go!" 😁
For $100,000 these are going to be parking lot markers at the Dealers. LOL If they would have put this powerplant into the CLA 45S and the GLA 45 this would have been a winner. I really doubt anyone that has ever had a W204 C63 or a W205 C63 will be willing to spend $100,000 on a four pot with lots of batteries. If Mercedes would have put the batteries in the W205 C63 4.0 liter V8 engine it would sell for sure. They messed up big time.
It's great tech if you are the first owner but I would not want to pay the bills for a 4 or 5 year old car out of warranty. The C43 I had back in the day was pretty simple in comparison and even that was fairly expensive to keep going

I made a big mistake selling my W205 C63S…at least Jaguar welcomed me with open arms to buy their V8 car. Mercedes (or my dealer) contacted me about getting my deposit in for the new C63…I said no thanks. I think I’m on their naughty list now and my chances of securing a production slot for a future AMG might be nil. We all bought C63s knowing full well they’re slower in a straight line and on track than the M3/M4, RS4/RS5 and Guilia QF. We bought them only for the V8 and the exhaust note (and secondly for a nice interior). So the vast majority of new sales will need to be from new customers entering the brand or those upgrading from A45/CLA45 etc. Might work…might not. But there’s extensive pledges on the AMG forums of current C63 owners vowing to turn down all allocations in the hope of affecting change…not that it will works haha.
No....they are not. It is faster....and better looking. If you want a big 8 cilinder block...buy an American muscle car...but they wont keep up with this monster. Compare it with F1....they dont have v12-v10 or even v8 anymore...but they are faster now. I do understand you though...the sound of that roaring V8 is wonderfull...
Why would I want a V8 when this car is faster, has all wheel drive and rear wheel steering(I could drive it all year round), better gas mileage and has way better technology. It can also be very quiet if I want it to be. Also this 4 cylinder is better for the environment. No thank you I will take this 4 cylinder that does 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds compared to your V8 that does 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. I will beat you and you can go home and say but I won with the sound. SMH LOL

Formula one engines are only 1.6L. So I’d gladly drive this thing. I love my V8’s. I’ve had plenty E55, E63, C63. I just have an E550 now, which is still a V8, but I wouldn’t turn my nose up if someone gave me this new C63😂. Even my Wife’s E350 moves pretty well for a 6 Banger. It’s no AMG, but decent. I think if they would’ve rebadged this new car to a C20T or something they wouldn’t have gotten so much hate. But I can definitely see how people are irked about badging a 4 Banger as a C63. But I’d gladly drive it…until it was out of warranty at least. 😅
Hey they do great job no more spin wheel no lag low Co 156! Is mean low price pay and u can drive all zones or city Free. Best stability flat for travel or track race bravo Mercedes.
As aways , great review Thomas , I like the way you talk about seats , space , comfort - always comprehensive and well thought out reviews - I finally got a chance to checkout the c63se and it drove great , didn't sound bad but it was a limited test drive - Between the C63se and the GLC 63se you drove which one did you prefer ?

Damn mercedes just put a six cilinder engine and small electric mild hybrid and thats it! Car would always have same amount of power and it would be a lot less weight, with this hybrid system it literally has 680hp but it does not have 680hp such a shame for AMG!
This anslysis would also apply to the comparison between the V6 C43 and the V8 C63. The C43 seems to have an unusual balance in every department. The C43 is easier to throw around.

What's truly remarkable is that the 680 horsepower is dependent on the battery. Should the battery's charge drop below 20%, it will limit the power output to roughly 400+ horsepower, which is the maximum the internal combustion engine can generate. Therefore, your 680 horsepower is contingent on the battery's level of charge. It's puzzling to me who at Mercedes' board considered this to be a wise decision. There have been discussions within Mercedes regarding the possibility of the next model facelift reverting to a V8 engine for power
The review is great as always. The car is really disappointing. Seat controls, iwc on a screen (wtf), exhaust sound, t-model with a bump in the trunk, inside its louder than outside (not considering the wind noise) I think it won't sell well since the price on Germany will be arround 100k, that's where the 63s cabriolet starts now at the end of the life cycle, the limousine c63s started at 78 at the end of the cycle in 2020. Sad
15:05 Wow that exhaust note is pathetic. I'm not a fan of the pops and bangs, but purely judging by the sound I think the i30N and Focus ST both sound a lot better stock. What an absolut shame.

Thank you for the review, Thomas! I really like most of the exterior design features MB has undertaken... to me it seems like they've attempted to stay more true to their brand (unlike BMW). Regarding the interior, its nice but designers really need to take a break from over-doing the haptic controls.
They have actually strayed away from the AMG DNA. As a BMW fan and driver BMW has actually stayed true to M Divisions DNA especially with the current M3. When I look at AMG, its pure brutal power and while it wont even come close to the precision of a M3 it still was something and raw.
Can someone tell me what will happened if you floor the car from 0 on German highway up to max speed and keep pressung the gas pedal?! How much time will those 680 hp be available? What happened if the battery get drain out?you are back to only 470 hp engine on 2.2t car… not so cool I think I still preffer my cla 45s..
The exterior design is outstanding in my opinion, and the question keeps coming up: How can Mercedes offer such an inferior design for a 200k vehicle like the EQS, when they put something like this against it. The station wagon is a dream. The only thing that remains is the cramp in the cockpit - touch-only. Mercedes is currently like Italian cars in the 90s for me - beautiful, but so messed up at a crucial point that you can't buy them.
Amazing Tech, as already mention oh that lump in the boot, who would buy such a compromised design in particular in the Estate (Tourer,T model 😊) BMW M3 Tourer has just gained more sales. Another great Video and review… Any idea when you will get your hands on thE BMW M3 Tourer ?
It's not just the c63 with 4 cyliner engine. It's supposed to have big V8. The old ones sound so gnarly compared to this one. I wouldn't mind if this engine setup was in another mercedes model, but why the neuter the c63??
As someone who has been an hardcore AMG fan for as long as I can remember, this thing is a massive disappointment. M3 is a superior sports sedan in every way possible. I'd honestly rather have an RS5 over this. Sure the power is there but there's just too much going on, they should have gone with a i6. And it's just way too heavy for what it is.
Great video as always thomas! Been waiting for this. In my opinion this car is way more refined than the new s amg but still mercedes is really missing it in the latest years. Also the e performance thing is really not for me especially in an amg.

the driving experience. The AMG C63S is known for its raw, unfiltered driving experience, with a lot of power and a bit of a rough ride. In contrast, the 2023 model is expected to offer a more refined and comfortable ride, with a focus on technology and features which does not speak AMG or give you the feeling of owning one.
Many thanks for an otherwise brilliant video. But I can't hide my disappointment at Merc though. This is a case of trying to fix what not broke went wrong for Merc. There was absolutely nothing wrong with previous C63 S, especially the coupe which they are dropping. That car had soul, charisma, looks, performance and was enjoyable at low speeds. Merc should've just kept it straight and simple. They should have maintained the same V8 which is in the new S63 (which the new f1 derived hybrid turbo), which produces 450Kw and 900Nm. That is still substantially up from 375Kw and 700Nm from the old C63s. Incidentally the old E63 AMG had exactly the same power but with 850Nm and did also 3,4 0-100 . Simple maths would have dictated that had they done just that the should been 3,2-3,3 sec to 100. But now they are ending up with a car that is over weight, over engineered, over powered (in terms of its rivals) and the one that is devoid of sound, soul, and charisma that its predecessor had. Dropping the coupe makes it even worse and just hands over Merc's market share to rivals. 🙄🙄🙄
It used to be that the C63 offered something that was basically extinct in small-sized sedans, a V8. That was its selling point when put against the BMW M3/M4 and Audi RS4. Now, not only does it not have 6 cylinders to match its competition, it doesn't even have 5. It's got 4....most customers will gravitate to the competition (The IS500 is probably the only car of similar size that still has a NA v8) or spend a bit more for the E63s. There's no point in having a C63s.
also the stress of weight of hybrid powertrain placed on the tyres and brake discs/pads won't come in cheap when owners need to change them constantly..... I thought the M3 was overweight but this C63 takes the cake.... I'll get C43 for cheaper option but for similar priced alternatives, i'll go for E-tron GT or Taycan 4s cross turismo
For High end performance cars they either need to go full electric or stick with petrol, the hybrid thing is the worst of everything, added weight and small engine with huge price tag. Also seems like a money pit after the warranty is over.
All you guys complaining are the reason why they don't make many sports cars anymore! Mercedes is getting ahead of the EU regs. At least it's a petrol engine and not a EV. Four cylinders are fun and I love mine!
Great review, technically the car is fantastic but the AMG badge has lost its luster for me. I will keep myV8 coupe. May have to step up to another brand to get that sound and emotion of a sports car.

Actually I agree with Mercedes and this is the best AMG ever.
I love my C63! Don't care about a V8! It's a very nimble car with the 4 wheel steering, and I really don't notice the weight

Agreed. Who wants a 2.1 ton super heavy car while looking for a high performance car? No good at all for eco friendly point of view.
My 2018 Mercedes the engine failed in 70k miles just outa warranty!

Why would I want a V8 when this car is faster, has all wheel drive and rear wheel steering(I could drive it all year round), better gas mileage and has way better technology. It can also be very quiet if I want it to be. Also this 4 cylinder is better for the environment. No thank you I will take this 4 cylinder that does 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds compared to your V8 that does 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. I will beat you and you can go home and say but I won with the sound. I'd be inclined to say this 4-cylinder C63 sounds better than the S58, the S58 sounds like the S55 which is gross.

Formula one engines are only 1.6L. So I’d gladly drive this thing. I love my V8’s. I’ve had plenty E55, E63, C63. I just have an E550 now, which is still a V8, but I wouldn’t turn my nose up if someone gave me this new C63😂. Even my Wife’s E350 moves pretty well for a 6 Banger. It’s no AMG, but decent. I think if they would’ve rebadged this new car to a C20T or something they wouldn’t have gotten so much hate. But I can definitely see how people are irked about badging a 4 Banger as a C63. But I’d gladly drive it…until it was out of warranty at least. 😅

Damn mercedes just put a six cilinder engine and small electric mild hybrid and thats it! Car would always have same amount of power and it would be a lot less weight, with this hybrid system it literally has 680hp but it does not have 680hp such a shame for AMG!
This anslysis would also apply to the comparison between the V6 C43 and the V8 C63. The C43 seems to have an unusual balance in every department. The C43 is easier to throw around.

What's truly remarkable is that the 680 horsepower is dependent on the battery. Should the battery's charge drop below 20%, it will limit the power output to roughly 400+ horsepower, which is the maximum the internal combustion engine can generate. Therefore, your 680 horsepower is contingent on the battery's level of charge. It's puzzling to me who at Mercedes' board considered this to be a wise decision. There have been discussions within Mercedes regarding the possibility of the next model facelift reverting to a V8 engine for power
Just go EV at this point. Mercedes needs to make their EVs more attractive.
Looks wonderful but since the mythos of the C63 is built on being a German muscle car they’ll never escape the disappointment of the new 4 banger.

The car is really disappointing.
Seat controls, iwc on a screen (wtf), exhaust sound, t-model with a bump in the trunk, inside its louder than outside (not considering the wind noise)
I think it won't sell well since the price on Germany will be arround 100k, that's where the 63s cabriolet starts now at the end of the life cycle, the limousine c63s started at 78 at the end of the cycle in 2020. Sad

Regarding the interior, its nice but designers really need to take a break from over-doing the haptic controls.

They have actually strayed away from the AMG DNA. As a BMW fan and driver BMW has actually stayed true to M Divisions DNA especially with the current M3. When I look at AMG, its pure brutal power and while it wont even come close to the precision of a M3 it still was something and raw.

Can someone tell me what will happened if you floor the car from 0 on German highway up to max speed and keep pressung the gas pedal?! How much time will those 680 hp be available? The exterior design is outstanding in my opinion, and the question keeps coming up: How can Mercedes offer such an inferior design for a 200k vehicle like the EQS, when they put something like this against it.
The station wagon is a dream. The only thing that remains is the cramp in the cockpit - touch-only.
Mercedes is currently like Italian cars in the 90s for me - beautiful, but so messed up at a crucial point that you can't buy them.

As someone who has been an hardcore AMG fan for as long as I can remember, this thing is a massive disappointment. M3 is a superior sports sedan in every way possible. I'd honestly rather have an RS5 over this. Sure the power is there but there's just too much going on, they should have gone with a i6. And it's just way too heavy for what it is.

the driving experience. The AMG C63S is known for its raw, unfiltered driving experience, with a lot of power and a bit of a rough ride. In contrast, the 2023 model is expected to offer a more refined and comfortable ride, with a focus on technology and features which does not speak AMG or give you the feeling of owning one.
Many thanks for an otherwise brilliant video. But I can't hide my disappointment at Merc though. This is a case of trying to fix what not broke went wrong for Merc. There was absolutely nothing wrong with previous C63 S, especially the coupe which they are dropping. That car had soul, charisma, looks, performance and was enjoyable at low speeds. Merc should've just kept it straight and simple. They should have maintained the same V8 which is in the new S63 (which the new f1 derived hybrid turbo), which produces 450Kw and 900Nm. That is still substantially up from 375Kw and 700Nm from the old C63s. Incidentally the old E63 AMG had exactly the same power but with 850Nm and did also 3,4 0-100 . Simple maths would have dictated that had they done just that the should been 3,2-3,3 sec to 100. But now they are ending up with a car that is over weight, over engineered, over powered (in terms of its rivals) and the one that is devoid of sound, soul, and charisma that its predecessor had. Dropping the coupe makes it even worse and just hands over Merc's market share to rivals. 🙄🙄🙄

It used to be that the C63 offered something that was basically extinct in small-sized sedans, a V8. That was its selling point when put against the BMW M3/M4 and Audi RS4. Now, not only does it not have 6 cylinders to match its competition, it doesn't even have 5. It's got 4....most customers will gravitate to the competition (The IS500 is probably the only car of similar size that still has a NA v8) or spend a bit more for the E63s. There's no point in having a C63s.
They removed half of the cylinders and added 350kg extra. 😂 Only an idiot would buy this over the M3.
also the stress of weight of hybrid powertrain placed on the tyres and brake discs/pads won't come in cheap when owners need to change them constantly..... I thought the M3 was overweight but this C63 takes the cake....
I'll get C43 for cheaper option but for similar priced alternatives, i'll go for E-tron GT or Taycan 4s cross turismo

For High end performance cars they either need to go full electric or stick with petrol, the hybrid thing is the worst of everything, added weight and small engine with huge price tag. Also seems like a money pit after the warranty is over.
