Hey, Joe - another fine review. Man, I don't need ta view any other vids on this 2019 Hyundai Veloster R-Spec because your video review of this car covers EVERYTHING thoroughly and completely. I think you're the best. This rig even looks good in Hyundai's Shadow Black shade because of the red Turbo splashes of color they put out on different parts of the car's exterior. Also, the Shadow Black has that Sand Mica look to it - absolutely gorgeous! Thanks again for being on top of things for us car lovers out here - you're doing great with subs - 262 subscribers - I've been one of 'em for a long time - great job as usual, Joe!

Love that color and great they improved the rear suspension, should be a good comparison against the Cooper and GTI now that it handles better and probably with better reliability. @Jaymar Ferreíra i have had it since it had 32 miles. And now it has 68k miles. The engine is very reliable depending on how the motor was broken in. I paid the extra 5k for the "N". Nothing against the R-spec... I drove it before the N. But the N is a special vehicle. I started off intending to purchase the R spec, but after testing them both, it was a no brainer. Bang for the buck is better than anything out there right now IMO, and they do a Hell of a job with styling.

I love mine. Imo you have to get the R Spec. Thing is so fun to drive. It handles very well and never feels underpowered. The PS4 tires give you awesome grip too. If you don't believe a Hyundai can drive well go test drive one. I was ready to buy a GTI, and test drove the Hyundai and it blew it away. You don't notice the third door at all in terms of driving. The car doesn't feel off balance or anything like that. Like some other people said, the 3rd door is a little quirky and weird but there are no negatives to it and for a daily driver it makes it perfect for people getting into the back. Also, when the rear seats are folded down this thing can fit a ton of stuff in it! Trunk is nice and deep. My only gripe on the car is that it sucks in the snow (ps4 summer tires). So if you are driving in snowy conditions you are definitely gunna need to out winter tires on it. Awesome review. Agreed with what you said!

I have owned a Veloster Premium 2.0 now for a couple months and love it. I am the young at heart who owned a Toyota Supra in the 1990s before my kids. After I had kids, I needed to trade in my Supra for a family car. Now my kids are older and no longer need the larger family car and bought the Veloster Premium. Since I live in Chicago and not expected to every use the Veloster on any tracks racing, so I have fun in city driving with the non-turbo naturally aspirated engine with no turbo lags moving forward. The sport mode gives some nice power including lower rpm.
I have to admit in the 90's I raced Chicago Bulls Micheal Jordan on a street in Chicago before his first NBA Championship with my Toyota Supra against his Lamborghini at a stop light. I can still remember Micheal's smile back at me when he raced past me.
If you are not using the Veloster on a track or live where you need more all season tires the 2.0 might be worth a look, too. The Premium also includes more options than the R-Spec for about the same price as the R-Spec. I agree the Veloster is must fun for the dollar whether it is the N, turbo or the 2.0.

R spec advantages over the N: 200 pounds lighter, 34 foot turning circle versus 38, regular fuel versus premium, has REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT, and costs $5000 to $7000 less versus regular N and upgraded N. I would imagine insurance would also be cheaper, haven’t looked into that aspect yet. Also, the interior has a little more personality... subjectively speaking.

The N requires premium fuel, whereas the rspec does not.. For me its a deal breaker. premium fuel is about 25% more expensive. Therefore, it is like paying the equivalent for a vehicle that takes regular gas and gets 21mpg on the highway. For reference, even an F-150 with a V8 get 22mpg on the highway and takes regular fuel. The veloster N literally costs more to fuel then a full size truck with a v8. It doesn't seem so practical anymore when put into that perspective, which is why it is a deal breaker for me personally.

@@muffinator1234 You have a good point, and I guess that's exactly why they make the 3 versions of that car. The 'N' model wasn't necessarily designed to be practical. It still has has all the same features as the other two models, but with extra performance and handling. For me, I'll pay the premium gas just for that reason alone. I had a loaner Veloster for a month while my car was being repaired. It was not turbo charged but it was fairly peppy driving around town. For me, the N model is an affordable hot rod. Much cheaper than the Mustangs and Camaro's and its almost 10 grand less than the Honda Civic hot hatch as well. Thats why my choice would be the N model.

Why is that people always complaint about how hard the plastic is on the dash and door cards? Even a 5 million dollar car has a dashboard and door cars just as hard but covered in leather or alcantara or whatever. Some are carbo and they are hard the same. Now, if Hyundai wanted, they could cover the dash and door cards in leather or other material but how much would the car cost??? Then people would say:"Pay X amount for a Hyundai"?. I garantee you that any Bmw, or any car from the Vag group more likely would have an issue with the door cards and dash than this car. All the ones I mentioned above their door cards material starts to fall off after a certain time.
Manufacturers know all about what people will complaint about but there is a reason for that and it is all for cost reduction. That is why Saab bankrupted cuz there made their cars so good but couldnt ask the price they were really worth so they were loosing millions and millions.
I love this car and the N even more

The original Veloster Turbo had that TURBO badge on the rear, letting people know it was the turbo model. At the time, it was the only turbo model, so i thought why not do this to my Elantra, I mean it's the only model with the turbo and besides, the turbo badge looks really cool, so I did it.
