    It really always puzzles me why don’t you have 2 million subscribers... your video line, your texts, product exposition, humor, overall quality are way better than of those who have millions of subscribers. You may count me as two subscribers, I raise my both hands for you)) I’m sure all of your 78K subscribers would do the same! Thus we just got you 160K followers! Cheer up!) We’re with you!

    This isn't really my type of car anymore, but if I was still into small-ish hot hatches, I would seriously consider a Veloster Turbo Ultimate, or the upcoming N version. Hyundai is really doing it these days, I'm impressed!

      Seriously, one of only like 5 channels I have notifications turned on for and I watch every video even when it's a lame vehicle like a Veloster or Ecosport . Happy to see that he seems to have a nice following building up considering this video is at 5k views in 18 hours. Hoping he can work up to 50k views per video average because that seems to be when UA-cam's algorithm starts to give the channel a push in the suggestions. He certainly deserves it.

    Great Review Tom. This redesign was well done in my opinion. The driving dynamics seem legit and acceleration is certainly competitive. The interior plastic thing is a let down but something had to be cut to keep reasonable pricing.

    I just checked Hyundai's site. Adaptive Cruise Control (they call it Smart Cruise Control) is only available on the Ultimate trim with DCT. I don't know what the major malfunction is with Hyundai/Kia (and Subaru while I'm at it). Many other companies figured out how to combine manual transmission with adaptive cruise control (obviously without low-speed support).

    Why not have the heads-up display reflect directly off the windshield?

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  6 років тому +1

      Because the windshield needs a special coating that is very expensive. I've been told it can add $1,000 to the price of the glass. Something you won't want to pay for when it comes time to replace it.

  • @marcob1729
    @marcob1729 6 років тому

    For $30k, it seems that the interior is a bit behind competitors. I sat in a lot of Hondas recently, and aside from the awful touch only controls (I think they've since started rolling out actual volume knobs), the cabin space wasn't nearly as hard and unappointed.

    #savethemanuals...when there are no lane markings, the entire surface is your lane; besides, it's just paint on the road anyway. I might consider a Voelkster when its time to replace my Mk4 GTI, but right now, I have no reason to. I'm also a fan of Soul! turbo, but the Veloster is a better driving car and comes w/3 pedals; the Soul! does not. What did you think of the interior noise - good, fair, annoying? Did it have a donut spare? Is this car on par with a Civic Si? Mazda3 2.5?

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  6 років тому

      Road noise is average for a car in this class. I suggest driving all of the cars you mention to see which one speaks to you.

  • @swanblake

    Love the size and three doors on the Veloster. Really wish the Rspec had a LSD like the Civic SI given price is similar. Hyundai seemed to go 90% of the way again with the VT. Gorgeous car. Like it a lot. The N should be exciting of priced rightt.

    Strictly speaking for myself here, but Tom's channel really should have 2 million subscribers. He's one of THE best car enthusiasts on social media. Guy knows his cars and he's very professional. His reviews are informative and entertaining at the same time. He has excellent camera presence.
    Unfortunately, the world we live in doesn't care.
    Instead we get these douchebags, pardon the language, acting like an imbecile in front of the camera showing off their leased Lambos and McLarens with 1 million subscribers.

    Tom, I miss those roads between Fall City and Carnation now that I've moved to the South Sound. Many happy hours in my car and on my bike. Fortunately, there are some great roads over on the Peninsula. :) As for the Veloster, I'm disappointed that Hyundai has elected to put the "N" treatment in the Veloster in the US rather than in the Elantra (the i30N in other world markets.) Looks like a missed opportunity to me.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  6 років тому

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  6 років тому +2

      Well then technically we're both wrong. This from the Hyundai- "Further, there is an over-boost function that raises peak torque output to 202 lb.-ft. under maximum acceleration". My bad for not mentioning the extra 7 lb-ft. Wonder how noticeable it is...

I cant wait for the RM16 2.3T awd 360 hp and 350 ft lbs to come out. The theta 3 will be 2.0 to 2.5 liters and thebase 2.5 will have 210 hp and 200 ft lbsin the base sonata. Great review and I know you love the mazda mx5. It's what got you into reviewing cars. I bought a nd in 2016 and it's a big pile of rotten ownership expirience unlike my 2005 Hyundai Getz. I have been recommending Hyundais and now Kias to all my family and friends. Have been thinking since my poor decision to buy an overpriced new mx5 with a non existant warranty, that if Hyundai or Kia made a light weight rear wheel drive only this brand would knock the mx5 out of the water. Still much better value, quality and warranty. I'm sure this will eventually happen but it takes some years for some to change their mindset. Que the comments that argue that mazda is so good and how can I say they are not.
