I'm 58 years old, and I thought I was the oldest kid in the world. I bought one of these shortly after they came out with honest to god mowing money that I had saved up. One of the best toys of my life! I just bought one in great condition, for my grandsons, and I know they are going to LOVE it!!! Great video and thanx for the memories!
Oh man! This toy has been in an out of my memories. I knew I had one. Been trying to look for this thing for years. Just didnt know what it was called. So glad this was posted. I used to love playing with this. But one day it disappeared. I hope I can find one just like this again. Used to put my GI Joes in this.
So THAT'S how it works!!! I've been racking my brain trying to remember that toy I got from a garage sale back in 84 when I lived in Wyoming, it had no instructions and I had never seen it before so I had no idea how to operate it, I loved it though and not sure whatever became of it, gonna show my mom this see if she remembers getting me this thing lol
I had this as well. Very high tech for the time period. Not the best on carpet, but fortunately my parents hallway was wood. Spent hours programming and playing with it. The trailer attachment was pretty awesome as well and I wood always load it with stuff. (LOL)
Man, I was fortunate to get one as a kid. Sadly i dropped it while carrying it home from a friends house and it broke one of the wheels. We tried repairing it, but afterward it never worked properly. Not because of the wheel, but for some reason you couldn't program it any more. was such a cool toy.
Had both the tank and transporter in 1980 as a young kid. Wow. What memories. Yes it was expensive at the time and I think my grandfather helped my mom buy it for me for X-Mas.
Never seen one in person before. My friends parents were also poor. So that's the first time I've seen one apart from the commercial for it. Thanks and you've got a new subscriber. 😊
BIG TRAK.. Had that for Xmas in 1979. My father went downtown Toronto on Xmas eve to a toy store that wanted a premium price. I remember this like it was yesterday. My father always went the extra mile for my special celebrations because he was deprived on his. LUCKY ME YIPPEE:)
Yah! The grey/silver one was the one that I remember. All the other ones that I've seen were white. Great toy! And you can record the sound effects and use them for your cell phone ring tone.
I vaguely remember seeing this as a kid but I went to my local Goodwill in Greenville Pennsylvania today and it is February 17th 2023. I got this loose with the instruction booklet plus the transporter in the box with instructions both for $49.99. there must have been a vintage toy collector who passed away because there was also a 24-in Shogun warrior mitten box his name is mazinga and it was $150. I bought that too and I'm going to go trade them in Pittsburgh at d&g collectibles. I talked to the owner over the phone and it sounds like I'll double if not triple my investment. Also there was a Barbie lovely living dollhouse mint in box which I passed on and there were other Shogun warriors and other collectibles which I could not believe. I did hear from the employee that they usually sell these stuff online.
Love it! My nostalgia circuits brought me here. I'm trying to find out how much they were originally in 1979, do you know? I'm in the UK but US or UK prices would be equally interesting.
I had one as a kid & was always upset that when trying to make it run a realistic obstacle course, it would generally turn to far or not enough to maneuver curves and such. Still, my parents were middle class & thanks to them for buying me such a cool toy that most boys didn't have!
Omg. Haven’t seen or heard this tank in 40 years ! I had one as a kid in 1979. My uncle bought it for me and my brother, for Christmas. He played with it more than we did ! 😂
My cousin had this money pit of a toy. Yes every boy and most girls wanted this. Fortunately I got to watch my cousin play with this, I always loved the design. My uncle who payed for it, wouldn’t let me even touch it let alone play/program it. Still enjoyed it. I got over my Big Trak envy pretty quick though, it wasn’t like the commercial. Lol. Thanks.
Love this video ....Always wanted one as a kid ( still do !!) .....LAUGHED OUT LOUD when you were driving over the action figures ....EXACTLY what i would have done as a kid ( and today !!)...
Yep, I had one. This put a smile on my face as a fun memory! Thanks!
OMG the test blips brought me back to when my brother used to smack my hand away every time I tried to touch his Big Trak. Hey! You know what I meant.

I had one when I was a kid, don't remember how I lost it.

I still have mine. It was the hottest toy around in 1980!

Totally got one of these for Christmas that year. I was the only kid I knew who had one. We weren't at all wealthy but mom went all in lol
Never seen one in person before. My friends parents were also poor.

This was one of my favorite toys.
ah. I spent many weeks for paper route money for this. Loved it!
Shit was waaaaay ahead of it's time!
I also had one of the original BigTraks. I seem to remember you could also trigger the trailer to rise to "dump" a load.
I had one but my Dad played with it more than me !
I used to love that thing, the only thing bad was how quickly it drained batteries..
Awesome. Just picked one up at a show. I hope I can get it working!

I had one of these!
I remember trading my big trek for a lunch box full of matchbox cars to a friend. Now I feel like I got screwed
Matchbox? Yes…
Hot Wheels? Probably not…
I was too poor to get one but had a friend with rich parents. It was fun for about ten minutes and got boring fast lol
I was lucky and had it
I feel confident that this tiy was responsible for many groundings
Big trak
I found one at an estate sale today for 2.58

Never had one myself. Got to play with someone elses i think or one like it.
Ohhh i had one of these!! My favorite thing about it was making it shoot the lazer....pew pew!
When I was a kid my neighbour had one of those but his was white in colour and I dont know why but we always called it big foot
That's interesting. I always associated the white one as European, or the overseas model. Maybe it was sold here too.
@@theoldestkidintheworld7365 yes, I read the white ones were sold in the U.K.

Around $40. I seen an original receipt where it cost $59.99 (that one may have had the pull behind trailer with it)....
I’m pissed my parents didn’t get me one lol
Just won one on ebay, works perfect !
Missing the o-rings on the center wheels, anyone know what size they are ?
I had the black trans am that did the same thing, but I can't find it now.
Kids today would be like so you have to get out of your seat and move?
Mom wouldn't get it at the time..lol
How many actions would it let you program at one time? I always thought these looked super cool but the keypad made me nervous. LOL

totally forgot about all the fun I had as a kid with one of these. memory unlocked, thanks.
