learning some meran theory and learning a bit of cambridge springs theory in the semi slav will give you much more active positions. I found myself getting slaughtered in the semi slav by higher rated players much more before i learned some of the theory so i highly recommend it.
you should look into the nf6 line in 2 knights caro. after nxf6 exf6 the bishop goes to d6 and white is already having issues with developing the dark square bishop.

1.e4 c6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Nf3 dxe4 4.Nxe4 now Nf6. since 4...Nd7 runs into 5.Bc4 Ngf6 6.Neg5 while 4...Bf5 allows 5.Ng3 Bg6 6.h4 h6 7.Ne5 Bh7 8.Qh5

I used to play it loads, have a couple videos with it on the channel but found it to be hard to fight for any advantage
