    Interesting game. For your game plan of getting the knight to e4 you mention that the only access is g5 but interestingly later you picked up that the e5 pawn was tactically pinned. So you could have routed your knight to e4 via f6 instead.

    At 33:36, why not d8+ because pawn promotion comes with check and rook has no chance to skewer you?

    Top GMs are memorizing ideas of computers that they don't understand, that's for sure. I'd argue many lines are just things they've memorized from engines, games, or even structures of the past. They often "confuse the move order." If they understood the positions and didnt just rely on faulty memory, that wouldn't happen.

    Another great video man. I’m currently 1400 elo but a bit rusty because I came back after a long break a month ago or so and I’ve noticed my tactics and general thought process is very disorganised/slower. Do you think switching from 10+0 to 15+10 time control would help? Obviously along with doing lots of puzzles. Never tried any other time control ever lol

      @ Against the 'classical' Caro Kann I just play the mainline. e4 c6 d4 d5 Nc3 exd5 Nxd5 Bf5 Ng3 Bg6 h4. You know the deal. However, against e4 c6 d4 d5 Nc3 exd5 Nxd5 Nf6, I play an unusual move which is Qd3. The majority of players play Nxe4 Qxe4 Nd7 Nf3 Nf6 Qf4 Bg4, which may look natural, but after Ne5 Bh5 Qh4, white is doing really well. I've never really gotten a bad position from that line.

    A very instructive game for me! I mention the stubborn defense of the c-file and the maneuvers to activate the knight on the king side (reaching e4 finally) which impressed me the most. Just a note: at 9:33, Qd3 not only unpinned the queen, but threatened Nxd5 too. It's a tactics worth being aware when your knight is on f5 .

    Have you ever faced the endgame offer e4 c6 nf3 d5 d3? This is the line I have been playing successfully for months, tricking black into an objectively worse endgame with little counterplay, despite seeming totally equal. Good game though👍

    • @ChessCenturion
      @ChessCenturion 8 годин тому

      Yeah I've faced it loads surprisingly, I used to accept and hated my life so now I just play e5 and try to punish white for d3 by taking a massive centre

      @ChessCenturion No, the 2000 World Open was my last OTB chess. Had a good paying job with weekends off, so I could afford to travel and play. Florida had great chess tournaments. Now I just play a little online, do mostly puzzles and watch good content like your channel.

    This was an extremely sharp game, I’m 1000 elo, and have very much difficulty with sharp games, but I have a lot of processing power potential, how do you think I can get better with positions like this, and out think my opponent like you did against the white pieces?

    • @ChessCenturion
      @ChessCenturion 11 годин тому

      Sorry what do you mean by processing power? To get better at these kind of games it definitely helps to literally just watch UA-cam videos of people explaining their thoughts (not just a self-plug, people like hanging pawns and Naroditsky are great at this too) as well as analysing your own games and seeing why the computer wants what it wants. It's tricky to understand sharp positional games (which I would class this as) but it can be done

    • @lostplug
      @lostplug 11 годин тому

      @ChessCenturion Thank you man, also I'm going to be watching you to learn about sharp games and their strategies, you explain it best, you are very well articulate and entertaining, by processing power, I mean I have great potential to becoming skilled at sharp games but it will require countless hours and experience

    Great game from you, and I would say white played very well for their rating. Of course the computer had superior insight into the most precise ways to convert but I was thinking about exactly the same moves as you the whole time. Imo it's a good rule of thumb not to create chaos in these positional advanced variation positions by sacrificing two pieces for a rook to get a couple of passed pawns because you're giving your opponent an opportunity to outplay you when you could just slowly squeeze like you did in the game.

    • @ChessCenturion
      @ChessCenturion 11 годин тому

      Yeah white did have a good game but tbf, the rapid rating ladder is incredibly underrated in general. Yeah I agree with that, definitely comes down to preferred playstyle in some ways but I just didn't wanna give him a single chance, obviously the computer will see something subjectively scary like the open f file and just not care but we have to play like humans imo. How's chess been since you were last active on the channel bro?

    At 18:55 You should also look at RXf7 attacking the rook and the knight and threatening a discovered check. I think it wins on the spot. Though you demonstrated black was busted anyway. Good Game! At 29:28 you had Rc8!

    • @ChessCenturion
      @ChessCenturion 11 годин тому

      Yeah I did consider that but thought my line was cleaner, obviously missed that black can counterrattack - had I seen the knight move I would've hopefully taken with the rook. Rc8 is a nice spot too, I think the computer prefers my move but Rc8 is arguably cleaner, just feels risky to play XD

    • @Roberto-bd9fq
      @Roberto-bd9fq 6 годин тому

      @ChessCenturion Thanks. I should point out I missed that it was check like you did, thinking the rook check would win the queen, I just liked that the rooks come off, which really did not matter as you had so many pawns ahead, but in an endgame, I think you want the rooks off when you are ahead. Plus, you did see that for as you said that is one reason you moved the rook there. It was a bit cute since he threatens mate, but the rook is pinned and can't move.

    It surely helps your confidence to win most of your games at your first tournament. You sound like an experienced player and i'm wondering what's your rating now?

    • @ChessCenturion
      @ChessCenturion 2 дні тому

      Yeah it definitely does, especially at a younger age. Im rated 2000 now :)

      @ChessCenturion good for you. I have finished 2nd in my first ever otb tournament, is wasn't nearly as big as yours, but it meant a lot to me. Maybe I wouldn't be where I am if that tournament would not have happened.

      Still though that's very impressive for your first tournament! Was it a local Congress or something? Those can be pretty nice

      @ChessCenturion It was pretty weird tournament. There was no more than like 15 people and I think sever rounds, it probably wasn't rated, but at that time I didn't even know, that Elo existed.

    That’s so funny. My first ever chess tournament I played against Shaun Walsh and he played the French against me haha. Just had a look on ECF and it’s the same guy

      @ I actually played a tarrasch as well lol but it converted into an advanced after Nf6 e5 and those lines are super fun gambiting the d4 pawn

      Ooo nice man, I assume you won? Those lines are really fun
