Those are fantastic reels, I have several. Interesting, you review the reel and give all the technical information you can read off the box but never show the best thing about the reel. It can be set up to make a very long cast without ever touching the spool with your thumb and not get a backlash. This is the best reel I have seen to use if you are learning how to cast to keep from getting a lot of back lashes. Maybe that will be in your next video.
It still works like a dream. I have had no issues out of it. Now I am no tournament angler. I don’t have a boat. I’m just bank angler, but for my use at least it’s held up very well. 🙂
Has anybody put braid line on theirs? I just bought this reel yesterday and put on 8 lbs p-line on it. Took it out today and was making 100 feet casts into the wind with it. I love the reel , but I know the 8 lbs line is a little light for it because I did do a backlash by just doing a careless flip with it. The line ended up going into the other side of the spool which means the diameter of the line is too small so I'm gonna put something bigger on it.
I have used braid on mine, but I had a backer so it wasn’t straight braid. I would think bigger line should help with the issue you had though. It really is a great reel. 🙂
This is the only one I have used so far. Wouldn’t be able to recommend the other ones without trying them. This one is good for pitching. I have used it for that several times.
I have the 8.3 for heavy grass and pitching, this is perfect. It is also great for frogging. Casts a heavy jig and a frog perfect with very very few backlashes. Lauren is right, the grips are wonderful, too. Also super easy to dial in. Cheers all!
My husband and me both personally liked this one better. Not to say the shimano isn’t nice. He had the curado, but I know when we fish he would reach for the Tatula more than the Curado. I used his Curado a few times, but still liked the Tatula better as well. For me personally, I felt like it cast better and smoother. I think it performed better on windy days as well. Hope that helps some.
I have pretty small hands as well. I don’t have any problems with it. It is a bit wider that some other reels, but for me it doesn’t hinder the performance or the way I am able to handle it. You might be able to even go to a sporting good store like Cabelas or Bass Pro and put hands on it first to see how you like it. Good luck and thanks for watching!!

It is an excellent reel, you are right. Yes, it is harder to backlash and it is great to use on windy days as well. Thanks for watching!
Sweet review I just got this one yesterday and was wondering how it’s held up after 2 years

Which Daiwa for *HEAVY, GRASS pitching/punching?*

How is it compared to shimano curado dc?
