Hey Lauren… thanks for the review… the I have a Pilot Custom 743 Verdigris with a BB… this is a great pen and the double broad is very nice! Verdigris is a specific shade of green, it is the copper or bronze patina (when it oxidized)… think the color of the Statue of Liberty.

You make a great point! There are not many reviews on the 912 in the "normal" nib variants. I went out on a limb and got the fine medium 912 as my first Pilot even though there were hardly any reviews. Surprisingly the fine medium is a little more on the medium side than I was expecting. I LOVE it though!

Welcome to the hobby! You cannot go wrong with a Japanese-made pen. Pilot is great, but so is Sailor. In fact, Sailor is more professional. As @heatherdl commented, Sailor also makes nibs that will appeal to people, such as yourself, that prefer smooth, springy and wet writing experiences. There's a Sailor nib for every writing experience you may desire.

I agree it’s ugly to me too but I just bought one with the broad for it’s stub-like quality. Endless Pens had the absolute best deal on Lamy 2000s.

THE 3 TURNS ARE DESIGNED TO BETTER SEAL THE CAP. MY PEN HAS 2 TURNS TO OPEN IT AND BECAUSE I DON'T USE IT THAT OFTEN, MY INK EVEN WITH THAT NUMBER OF TURNS GOT DRIED AFTER LIKE A WEEK OR 2. THE SLIPPERY MATERIAL I ASSUME IS BECAUSE THE PEN HAS A GREAT QUALITY, IT'S VERY POLISHED, WHICH PERSONALLY I LIKE. UR PEN IS BEAUTIFUL BTW ! BEING A DEMONSTRATOR BUT WITH THAT UNIQUE MATTE FINISH OMG AND THAT BLACK GUN METAL BANDS AND CLIP, IT'S PERFECT !

If you want to give Sailor another shot, the 21K nibs are where the magic is at. Look for the 1911L or the Pro Gear (regular size, bigger than the Slim) and you’ll have a completely different writing experience.

Hi Lauren! Just wanted to say thank you for your reviews. You have a good speaking cadence, and I like your accent. I'm glad you have a couple of Sailor inks because they caught my eye. I've been looking for a nice darker blue ink and this is one of my top picks.

The con70 you need to press it 5-8 times to get a full fill and have to have it pointed straight down to the ink bottle. That pen looks great. At first i was thinking of 823 but then I heard about its cracking problems and I maintenance difficulties and I do find myself changing inks often. So 743 is on my radar and that color is so beautiful except I live in Europe and the shipping/customs would be the end of me.

I gave a thumbs up, reluctantly, because you brought up excellent pro and con points. However, this video is probably twice s long as it should be because you constantly repeat the same points over and over again. Very inefficient use of time.

The website says the metallic gold in the designs might wear off…have you found that to be happening with yours?

I normally like most of the diamine inks, but there's just way too many awful orangey colours 😞

I was watching someone else's video and there seemed to be a lot of debate on what Pick Me Up was supposed to smell like. I got tobacco instantly, and said it smelled like a dirty ashtray at first but mellowed out, while other people were saying coffee or tiramisu and insisted the pick-me-up was coffee. I started to think maybe I was having a stroke or something and your video made me go back to the bottle for a second whiff. Nope. Even hearing other people say coffee and tiramisu and dark chocolate, I definitely still smell tobacco more than anything, and it reminds me of e-cigarette liquid. Maybe the pick me up is not caffeine but nicotine? Or maybe I am actually having a stroke. Only time will tell.

Thanks for this video. I don’t usually get into the Inkvent boxes as a whole, but every year there are a few individual colors that I snipe off once they become available individually. You describe a few inks as “chameleon” colors - does that refer to a specific property/ combination of them (ie. shimmer, sheening, multi-shading, etc)? And is that an official proprietary term that Diamine uses to label them, or are you just using it as a colloquial description?

I never did figure out what camelion means. I loved the blue shee of Arctic Blast that I didn't see from your video. .

Thanks for doing this - I was dithering about getting this but couldn't justify the outlay. I'm guessing that Pick Me Up smells of Tiramisu dessert because that's the literal translation of the Italian word.

I got coffee and chocolate from Pick Me Up, and 'eww cologne' from Spruce. But had the same "oh..huh...very different" response.

“Cosy” is the British spelling, so that makes sense considering where the ink originates. :)

Thanks for the informative video. I have had Speck grippy case for the last 5 generation of iPhones. I found the Speck case break after 10months, it usually the charge port area then the mic/speaker area where the plastic is a little thinner. I just got an iPhone 14pro, this time I bought Otterbox clear with glitter design. I found the otterbox may help up better.

I just ordered the 2022 calendar. First time doing this. Praying and hoping for some really good ink colors.

I have the glitter presido speck, that’s so strange because my buttons on mine are easy. And it’s from atat , true speck case.

I’ve been switching back and forth between the presidio and symmetry clear cases over the years with my iPhones, simply out of convenience of what’s available at the store when I pick my phones up. I’ve found both offer equal protection. The buttons are difficult on the presidio but the symmetry seems to yellow faster and worse (usually after 6 months or so). I’m going with the symmetry again for my 14 pro max.

Just a little suggestion to Lamy 2000 users who find a bit of difficulty with the nib’s “sweet spot.” The Oblique Medium (OM), Oblique Broad (OB), and Oblique Double Broad (OBB) all write beautifully and do not seem nearly as critical as the traditional nibs regarding the “sweet spot.”

I can ignore the that takes 3 turns to remove the cap because the Opus 88 seems to me a brand that makes FP's of excellent quality, its enormous capacity of ink allows me to work without refilling frequently and its nibs are very soft and great quality, also if I require it I can buy another nib brands and improve its performance even more.

I cannot use my Kon Peki for more than testing pens because it's soooo wet. I've got Sailor Manyo Nadeshiko and it's PERFECT in every way....dry, shades great, doesn't soak the page and is sooo vibrant! I've been on the fence with Sailor Manyo Konagi because I'm concerned about the wetness of the ink. I'm going to get a sample from Vanness like you recommend, that's the way to go. Thank you!

I don't match my pen colours to the ink I use. After all, what ink would I use with a silver or marbled pen?

Yeah, I would conceivably be a person who spends $125 for a pen this well made and stylish. It's beautiful and exudes quality. It's like what a Twsbi wants to be when it grows up. The eyedropper and the shut-off valve are just the thing. But 3.5 turns to remove a cap is just beyond ridiculous. 1 or 1.5 would be ok. I actually prefer snap on caps. Safari, Metropolitan. 3.5 turns would drive me nuts. Pretty much eliminates all Opus 88s from consideration I guess since they all seem to have that peculiarity.

Gorgeous pen. I just ordered one from the pop up online pen show, w polar ice and dark blue. It will be my first #31. I got a M CI nib. Normally I like an SIG m. I have not had a problem w any leakage, or staining w their pens eye droppered. Took me over a year to gear up to doing it. Cool vid.
