@@CathyRankinEntertainment I'm a lifelong Rush fan....seen them a dozen times...just listened to your version again...sounds like you get the song....do the world a favor and play it every chance you can...RIP Professor Peart
@@derekhawkins9976 me too! Been obssessed with them forever - I attended three of the last shows of R40 tour including the final one where Neil came out from the drumset to take a bow - I think I posted the video on my instagram and it is still on there somewhere. I cried my eyes out because I knew it was over. But their music lives on and I play it all the time. We are working on our next acoustic version of another one of their songs, so hopefully I'll get that on the channel in the next couple months! They are my all time favorite band, hands down, no one comes close....I miss Neil every day....
@@CathyRankinEntertainment it's a pleasure to meet another true fan ! Neil changed my interpretation of life and living....the beautiful music was just a bonus...I would love to hear your voice on Rivendell....your Geddy cadence on Tears makes it a perfect fit imho....best wishes for whichever you choose
Loved it Cathy Rankin .. I just saw your Geoff Tate interview and was blown away, my fav Tate interview to date. Then I thought I'd check this out and it was awesome ... A new fan. lol Cheers
Hi Cathy..I lost my Dad on Saturday...always remembered this song from my youth. Your version is beautiful. It's so sad but uplifting..thanks from England x
I am SO sorry for the loss of your Dad, my prayers are with you...thank you for listening to the song and I hope in some small way it helps what you're feeling...
@@CathyRankinEntertainment one of the most overlooked songs by Rush, but I can’t help but be touched by the gentleness of the melody and softness of your vocals.
Thank you so much! I was honored to get to do the podcast and have a fun discussion with other RUSH fans. We recorded Tears during the lockdown and decided to do it completely live, not pre-recorded or mixed, so it would be an authentic performance, mistakes and all :-)
Thank you - Im not a bass player, but felt I at least needed to play a simplified version of the bass line for this song! It was so hard to do that and sing, that's what makes Geddy so amazing! Glad you enjoyed it
I'm not a bass player, so playing bass for the first time at the same time as singing that song was challenging, not rushed, just concentrating since I had just learned it. I'm a professional singer in multiple bands, so I do many different genres - I don't limit my vocals to what other people think suits me, rather I perform music that I am passionate about and that appeals to me. Geddy Lee has a similar range and high tone so RUSH is actually very comfortable for me vocally.
Wow I just came across this, what a beautiful tribute to such an overlooked song. Such a haunting melody written by Geddy. ❤
Thank you so much - I love this song too, and you're right, it is one of the few that Geddy wrote himself. Thanks for stopping by and listening!
@CathyRankinEntertainment truly my pleasure 😊 you did an amazing job. 💝
I love this song, thank you!!!
Thank you so much, it means a lot to hear that!
