I started watching the video with excitement and stopped right after he called it compact phone. Since when people started calling a tall 6 inch screen a compact screen size? To me , a less than five inch phone is a compact phone because my fingers can reach every corner of the phone with one hand. I have been searching everywhere to find a manufacturer that makes a really compact, usable, lightweight and productivity Android smartphone. I don't care for multiple or punch-hole cameras, pure view or infinity display and high-end CPU/GPU. The closest phone we can get right now is pixel 3. Looking forward for iphone se2 even though I am not a fan of IOS.

@@Goenjamin thanks for the comment. I believe there is one particular device that suits our life style and personality. nice to hear that it worked out for you. I have used most of the smartphones of all sizes out there and for the kind of lifestyle I have, rocking a small durable Android phone will be enjoyable. I just cannot have a hefty large rectangular bar in my pocket all the time. I thought of buying the Sony xz2 compact but I found it is no longer going to be updated with the new Android 10. So my frustration is all about not having a small smartphone factor as an option by the manufacturers. I believe there are so many people who like to have a mid-range small phone which is supported for at least a few years like Android one. Unihertz did a great job with jelly pro and atom but they are tiny for me. Here is my ambitious smartphone looks like : A less than five inch OLED display, less than 120gms of weight and a considerably good camera, a programmable button that I can use it for Google assistant/voice recorder, durable etc., So the closest I can get with these specs is a pixel 3a.
Great sum up! I personally love this phone after 9 days of use. I had fingerprint problems at first too, but I figured out that you can have multiple fingers scanned. I've scanned my right thump two times with different positions, and now I don't have problems at all. Also, I've scanned my right pointing finger for the unlock while it rests at a surface. :)
I have 5 fingers scanned for any possible daily situation. I always use the best suited finger. I had not a single fail in one week now with more than 500 unlocks according to digital wellbeing.
I always register 4 finger with xperia,, For inhand unlock I register left middle and right thumb, for table unlock I register left thumb and right pointing finger
Sony always reliable having best firmware without no doubt while Samsung with unstable firmware still become problem. The problem is only sony in poor marketing and Samsung are best in marketing
I totally agree with this. I'm using sony xperia xa1 plus and it's very durable. Sony smartphones are the best. But compare to the marketing strategies of other smartphones, Sony is left behind 😑
Honestly I'm quite interesting to own xperia devices, but it's kinda hard if I have a problem with the device because the sony division of smartphone manufacturer and marketings are already bankrupt on my country.
I'm surprised you found the fingerprint scanner problematic. I've owned 3 generations of Sony flagships since the Xperia Z5 and rarely had any problems with the fingerprint sensors. To unlock the phone easily when it's on the table, scan your index finger so you'll unlock it while picking it up. It's better than having an on-screen or back fingerprint sensor where you can only unlock the phone when its the correct side up on the table.
Good tip! I’ve also added a second fingerprint which includes more ways of me holding the phone to unlock. It’s very responsive now and I’ve turned on the smart lock and ‘double tap to wake’ settings to try out.

I am sure, that the mistake is in the video, but you are going make a pleasant surprise to me, if there actually is 60FPS 4k possibility. So my question is, which information is the accurate one - is there a 60FPS 4k video or no? Thank you for your time!

True!
I own xperia 5 now for 6 days, coming from xperia xz1 compact. I can use xperia 5 70-80% one handed. Side sense is pretty key for this. I regret nothing. This screen is so much more quality for my life.
@@kanthvinay I read your text and from the very first sentences I had Pixel 3a in mind :)
It was very long time on my wishlist.
By compact here we are referring to how narrow it is and comfortable to hold. But it's certainly a very tall phone.
I love Sony
Last time I was this early,
PhoneArena didn't like Sony Ericsson back then XD
Great sum up!
I personally love this phone after 9 days of use. I had fingerprint problems at first too, but I figured out that you can have multiple fingers scanned. I've scanned my right thump two times with different positions, and now I don't have problems at all. Also, I've scanned my right pointing finger for the unlock while it rests at a surface. :)
I have 5 fingers scanned for any possible daily situation. I always use the best suited finger. I had not a single fail in one week now with more than 500 unlocks according to digital wellbeing.
I always register 4 finger with xperia,,
For inhand unlock I register left middle and right thumb, for table unlock I register left thumb and right pointing finger
@@zulnyr155 Good idea!
Hi. How is the battery 🔋 life of this phone?
Great Job Sony!!!
JE L'AIME BIEN
Sony used to be the best when it comes to electronic image stabilisation for video but nowadays... super sad sony
But compare to the marketing strategies of other smartphones, Sony is left behind 😑
it's my dream to buy a Sony phone someday..
Much better than Pixel 4/xl Xperia has more to go over the pixel... Check the specs in websites.
I'm like Sony Xperia 5
How to buy it, in my country not yet come in? 👍 👍 👍 👍
Hello, what is the processor for smasung s10e you are using for the comparison ?
It's the Exynos one
Hope Sony will eventually make a great camera-phone and keep the camera button (I adore this button).
Honestly I'm quite interesting to own xperia devices, but it's kinda hard if I have a problem with the device because the sony division of smartphone manufacturer and marketings are already bankrupt on my country.
Applock, file safe, dual messenger if Sony bring am coming back for Sony
Sony is the best they do it without effort lol even on the worst day a Sony phone is better imagine if they advertise more but those who know about them know they are better
Hello!
I have a question which is bothering me!
At 3:34 you say, that there is 4K video recording at 60FPS, and on your site, this information is written :
"You can’t shoot 4K footage in 60 FPS - you’ll have to drop down to 1080p for that."
I am sure, that the mistake is in the video, but you are going make a pleasant surprise to me, if there actually is 60FPS 4k possibility.
So my question is, which information is the accurate one - is there a 60FPS 4k video or no?
Thank you for your time!
xperia 5 actually can record only 4k 30 fps because it looks more filmy it cant record 4k 60 fps but it can record 1080p 60 fps
Good catch! It's a mistake in the video, there is NO 4K60 option, just double-checked to confirm!
@@PhoneArena Thank you for the answer!
Keep being positive, good luck!
Compact u said??? It's a book
No 10x,i lov my xz1 compact with its glass fiber ✌️
The cinema pro app looks great! Would love to have it on other Android phones.
Favoritism.. Annoying... Lol this is one of the best..
i love sony 😍
At last phone Arena given good review to Xperia..
masterpiece phone xperia 5
Sony definitely fight back in smart phone market... All youtubers finding demerits of this mobile but if they can't find then they are saying phone has ordinary camera setup.... They all are funded by Samsung apple and Chinese product
Very True words my friend!
Sony Xperia 5 ❤️
why is this phone still $799? lol
Love this phone the design is so nice the only thing is the camera needs to be more better and also the battery life otherwise this is definitely a good phone and Sony is going in the right direction
I never had a problem with the finger print sensor...
I love Sony phones, used to be a great fan. But no customer care in Africa. Phones just dies without any warning and that's it. No hope. Besides that, I know they make the best phones 👍, but they don't market, especially in Nigeria
Finger print scanner works just fine.
Not for me.
@@tomo100brt I have the XPERIA 1 and the scanner works every single time. If you want set up another finger print with the same finger, that might give you a better shot at opening the phone on the first try.
where can i buy a brand new xperia 5, can anyone tell?
Amazon,ebay,sony store...
Best phone of sony!
I received today, I love it,but how U are talking about the phone, you are definetly a apple"fruit" fan.
By the way..fingerprint works perfectly, very quick...I dont know what u are talking about
Does your phone restarts unexpectedly while using?
I like Sony's direction. Not bad Sony.
Too bad they switched to 21:9. The 16:9 was good and wide enough.
Not for me. Never regret to replace my Xperia xz1 compact with Xperia 5. Still one handed control possible, but that tall screen adds so much quality of life
Phonearena likes it... Nice :-)
Sony Xperia 5 türkiye pazarına dön lütfen 👏👏❤😎🙋♂️🇹🇷🇹🇷
Excellent review.
Experia 5 has much better competitor in a 700-800$ range than the two you mentioned. Next time prepare better for a competition part.
At least Sony make fantastic camera..happy owner 😁
Congrats 👏
Hi. How's battery life?
@@gerardosotom.939 Standard 1,5 day
Thanks. How much screen on time you got the most?
@@gerardosotom.939 4/5 hours
It's a good phone for the time being 🙏🏾
I had it and liked it then i got fed up with 60 hertz and the flagpole design! And the cost of xperias hooh! And repair cost as well! I really miss the real compact versions
Why is the battery review very different on the website at phonearena.com? you guys have it rated there at 10 hours and 24 min overall, falling just behind the iPhone 8 plus.
No super slowmotion killed this for me.
I wanna video my daughter playing man!!
It has slow-mo 960fps
@@vertwheeler6698 no goddamnit! it doesnt!!
Wait for its next flagships that might come out late February
@@esheel826 u mean revealed in february and launched in june in select markets.
Btw it will probably be a bigger one. I want a 5 sized phone.
I would buy it if it was around $500.
Just wait a few momths
i want you the reviewer to review the new xperia 5 ii mark 2 as i am planning to buy but i want to hear your honest opinion of what is good in it and bad. unlike other reviewers online they praise the device even though it has flaws.
Love everything about it but the price.
Since when does it use 4k HDR 60 fps???
Actually it is 30fps and it looks like 15-20fps.
You have 60fps just in 1080p
I prefer standard 16:9 sRGB AMOLED 1080p display
Don't know why Sony stopped selling their Mobiles in Indian Market.....😖
Sony Xperia 5 is the phone i really like and love which i Can't buy
Avid sony user here, please make your top and bottom vessels symetrical. :)
own the xperia 10. no problem with my fingerprint scanner. is the xperia 5 as compact as the xperia 10?
Pretty much identical its a tiny bit longer but a tiny bit thinner and i do mean TINY for both. sounds like a good deal except being more expensive just seem a better version.
Size is exactly the same comparing Xperia 5 with Xperia 10.
Terrible fingerprint scanner ?? I think it's great ...you don't need to lift up your phone to unblock it ...and when the fingerprint scanner is in the screen wouldn't work properly with an extra glass cover
How much price?
If the battery 4000 that would be better, the camera's in my opinion it is the best. And the price not that high, nice smartphone.
U dont need high number of battery if u got good battery optimization and Sony have that. Plus if u need more battery life u can turn on Stamina Mode which can extend for few hours without any major slow down process.
@@vertwheeler6698 yes I know that, but when we comparing X5 with another device you will see how that device have more hours of using it. Like ip11 pro Max 2 hours more than x5. Battery optimization in X5 is very good i know.
