As notaries we are the first and last defense against fraud and coercion. When in doubt make an emergency exit

Struggling to find a mentor in my area so I'm so grateful for these videos to help prepare me as I await my official commission to be issued.

It honestly shocks me how lawyers would do this to notaries.
    Why would they do that?

How exactly do you verify the information. Let’s say the person looks like the picture, their signature looks like the signature on ID and their name and everything looks normal. How can you tell if that fraud? Like I don’t know how to tell if it’s an idea that is fake or not

I have a tendency to "overthink" or research everything before excepting anything as fact until I have turned up every stone and feel comfortable with my decision to move forward. Afraid to make major mistakes. This came in handy while employed in nursing. Family members were the main culprits in trying to scam their ill or elderly loved ones. I had to be vigilant at all times. My license, integrity and job security were on the line.

You didn’t discuss when they already have Power of Attorney to sign on the behalf of someone. Could you please elaborate. Thank you.

Can it be appropriate for the notary to verbally confirm signers understanding and acknowledgment there are forgery/fraud consequences in our state before signing? And notate the signer acknowledged and understands in our journal.
