I can just imagine a young man in a formal office suit riding a rusty wooden board to the mega corporation he owns. Case in hand, necktie flopping behind him like a cape, he kickflips from the street onto the sidewalk right in front of the main entrance. The security guard at the door welcomes his boss with a fist-pump and then he takes the board for safe-keeping until the shift ends.
8:48 He's using the Tab key to quickly select the button when it's the only one on the screen. That's why the box is yellow. Combine that with the Enter key, since sleeping is also the first box on THAT screen so Tab will default to that, and you're in the money. Literally.
you can actually select what tab will default to because its based on mouse position, and in some cases Space will also work so you can just rotate your wrist slightly to spam between tab and space while spam clicking
I actually decompiled the source code of this game while I was unemployed just to learn how things actually worked in the engine. There was a ton of interesting stuff I learned about selling commodities and barfights, but none of that applies to what you've done in this speedrun. There were, however, two things of note that WERE relevant to the speedrun: 1: You did correctly mention that stocks can't go lower than $1, but something the code reveals is that they can gain or lose a maximum of 99c per day, meaning that it will always be at least two days for your stocks to get over $2. 2: Another part of RNG is the bank interest. Ever wonder why the longer you play, the more it seems like the interest is really low? That's because the way interest fluctuates is flawed: a number between 0 and 0.9 is generated, and then subtracted by 0.5, and this resulting number is added to the current interest at the end of the day. This means that the interest can decrease by up to 0.5%, but can only increase up to 0.4% - it's weighted towards decreasing. I don't know if this was an oversight or intentional, but probably the former.
@@TARDISES I do have a few, most of which are about barfights and selling commodities, but there's also a bit about becoming president/dictator (which isn't too important because most people just invest the max anyways), and robbing the bank/convenience store. Robbing the bank: You must have a gun and at least 10 bullets, and the clock must not be red. Attempting to rob the bank will cause a random number between 0 and your Charm stat minus 1 to be rolled. If the result is greater than 40, you rob a random amount between $0 and $499; if not, you get jailed for 5 days. Either way advances the clock to midnight. This means it is impossible to rob the bank with a Charm of less than 42, a Charm of 83 gives odds of 50%, Charm of 409 gives 90%, and max Charm of 999 has slightly less than 96% odds. There is no difference between robbing the bank and the convenience store (which amazed me - I thought as a kid that the latter was easier to rob but gave a lower payout, but no, they're exactly the same). Selling Commodities: When you board the bus, the following things take priority in order: If you have no commodities, you waste the day, but nothing else happens. If you do have commodities but no gun, you get robbed with a "no-gun" scenario. If you have commodities and a gun, but no ammo, you get robbed with a "no ammo" scenario. If you have commodities and a gun and ammo, the game rolls a random number. If this number is higher than your strength, you get robbed with a "you're weak" scenario. The number this is depends on the city you go to: Brooklyn: robbery = 100-224; Detroit: robbery = 100-249; Los Angeles: robbery = 100-249; Chicago: robbery = 100-224; Camden: robbery = 100-209; Las Vegas: robbery = 100-209; This means that you are guaranteed to be strength-robbed if your strength is less than 100. You cannot be strength-robbed in Las Vegas or Camden if your Strength is 209 or greater, in Chicago or Brooklyn if it's 224 or greater, or in Detroit or LA if it's 249 or greater. There is no difference between what the offer will be in these cities, so basically, do Camden or Las Vegas until your strength is 224, then do Chicago or Brooklyn until your strength is 249, then do Detroit and LA from then on. If you pass the roll but have no cell phone, you waste the day. If you have a cell phone, but have more than 50 bottles of beer or grams of cocaine, you get arrested, have your stash, gun and ammo confiscated, and get jailed for 5 days (but you keep your cash). Due to an oversight, the maximum in Brooklyn is 49 instead of 50. If you pass all of that, there's still a 1/9 chance you get robbed of your stash (but not your cash) anyways. Otherwise, the following happens: Either booze or coke is selected at random. Booze: "offer" is set to your charm/"_root.boozeSell". Max is 50. This offer is then randomly decreased or increased by 0-4. If this offer is now less than 5, it gets set to 5. Coke: "offer" is set to your charm/"_root.cokeSell" multiplied by 10. Max is 600. This offer is then randomly decreased or increased by 0-49. If this offer is now less than 50, it gets set to 50. BoozeSell is 6, cokeSell is 5. So you will break even on average (before the random roll) for booze if your charm is 180, and for coke if your charm is 200. You will max-out for both when your charm is 300. "quantity" is then set to the amount of whichever commodity is going to be sold. If this is 0, you can't find anyone to buy from you. This will happen if you have none of the commodity that was rolled. Finally, it rounds the offer times the quantity, and that's the offer you get. So for beer, minimum is $5 per bottle and max is $50 per bottle (or $54 if you get a lucky roll). For coke, min is $50 per gram and max is $600 per gram (or $649 if you get a lucky roll). Barfights: The barfight number in the game starts at 1, and will increase after every won barfight (I'm not sure if it increases if the freeze bug happens). The enemy starts with a variable amount of health: 5*barfight number + (random amount between 0 and 5*the barfight number - 1). So the first fight will be between 5 and 9, the 5th will be between 25 and 49, and the 100th will be between 500 and 999. You have action points - you start off with 1, and you gain another every 20 strength points to a maximum of 15 (maxed out 280 strength). Punching costs 1 action point. It deals a random amount of damage between 0 and ((Strength+10)/10)-1, but will round to 1 if it rolls 0. This means you will only deal 1 damage until you reach 20 strength, at which point 2 becomes possible, and will increase by another 1 every 10 strength. This amount is increased by 2 if you have the knife. At 990 strength with the knife, damage is 2-101. Kicking costs 2 action points. It deals a random amount of damage between 1 and (Strength/4.5). So by the time it is available at 20 strength, it will do 1-4 damage, will increase to 1-5 at 23 strength, then 1-6 at 27 strength, 1-7 at 32 strength, etc. It does 2 extra damage if you have the knife. At 999 strength, it deals between 3-224 damage. Fireball costs 3 action points. It deals a random amount of damage between 0 and (Strength/2.5)-1, but will round to 1 if it rolls 0. So by the time it is available at 40 strength, it will deal 1-15 damage, then increases to 1-16 at 43 strength, 1-17 at 45 strength, etc. At 998 strength, it deals between 1-398 damage. Energy blast costs 4 action points. It deals a random amount of damage between 0 and (Strength/1.5)-1, but will round to 1 if it rolls 0. So by the time it is available at 60 strength, it will deal 1-39 damage. This increases to 1-40 damage at 62 strength, 1-41 at 63 strength, etc. At 999 strength, it deals between 1-665 damage. When you win, you will get a random amount of money: 5*barfight number + (random amount between 0 and 5*the barfight number - 1) (the same formula as enemy's HP). So between $5 and $9 on the first fight, $25 and $49 on the fifth fight, and $500 and $999 on the 100th fight.
@@prich0382 If you're talking about the part where the damage appears mirrored over your own head and you have to press "it froze" to continue, I did not. Y’know, you kinda get to an age at some point where you’ve remembered or rediscovered everything from your childhood, and it becomes rare to remember something you hadn’t already. This gem of a game, one of those rare few I hadn’t already remembered existed. So so so fun to see this.

So she was out with friends and one of them gave the others some cigarets, then tried to give one to my mother, she declined and the guy was like "oh don't be such a buzzkill!" Wich she responded with: "i'd rather die normaly, thanks."
Why didn’t you just do stocks up until like 300k, bank, and then do the sleep part? Feels like it would have killed two children with skateboards with one stone.
"So this is the fastest way of doing it. We literally just sleep. You know, in real life, maybe this isn't the greatest way to become president." Are you sure about that?
"So at this point in the run, we're going to invest that money at the bank because that's going to gain some interest." Probably the most underrated joke in this run.
Ive been trying to find/remember this game since i was a kid and for years i never could find it or remember what its called and eventually gave up, years later it appears before me in my recommended 😂😭 thank you for this
You could make this Speedrun faster if you purchased the gear when you had around 100k. It's just slightly fast but every time you sleep for the stock to change you would also gain int str and cha, which would reduce the overall amount of times you need to sleep
Loving the re-use of the castle asset from ‘Defend your castle’ (another classic stick figure game from XGen Studios) even though the perspective doesn’t match the other the buildings in the game at all. They didn’t even remove the little grey squares on the turrets where numbers would be displayed in DYC. 😂 Ah, the joys of growing up and realising this isn’t the passion project of ‘some teenager, just like me!’ and that ‘XGen Studios’ was very likely a business of Gen Xers, who used an art style that merely looked like an amateur flash production on the front.

If you pass all of that, there's still a 1/9 chance you get robbed of your stash (but not your cash) anyways.
Otherwise, the following happens:

Booze: "offer" is set to your charm/"_root.boozeSell". Max is 50. This offer is then randomly decreased or increased by 0-4. If this offer is now less than 5, it gets set to 5.

@@unisexlettuce Yeah there's a yellow box showing up on the button, that's definitely the tab key. I think it's more likely that the other guy just used a macro.
@@quickdraw6893 Yeah 100% looks like a macro. External tools are not allowed in traditional any% afaik, so the WR is cheated? :D
@@snooze3100 nah man they just have a good gamer chair
Close. Tab+Space bar, plus I also enabled MouseKeys in Windows settings and used the "+" key on the NumPad to double-click, which is allowed according to the moderators of this game.
I'm so glad someone loved this game as much as I did back in the day
Can we all just appreciate stal playing in the background
No
I already was
It's fun to watch these and see how long these flash games actually is, even when speedrunning. Me, 7-8 years old, played so many of these flash games. But did I finish one? NOOT
I love how this game looks so bright and colorful but you can literally kill kids and steal cars
Not to mention a lot of people at the bar
@Toy ok noob
@Toy um
@Toy I play story mode?
@Toy does shark card carry to story mode
07:45 LOL, I guess you don't know that Reagan was notorious for sleeping in half the day most of his life.
Love how he opens with getting a loan, gambling, then buying cigarettes and drugs.
I played this so much as a kid. I never knew there was a purpose to it. I would just get in bar fights and unalive everyone until i got bored
Same. Also tried all the drug options
"Please never smoke anything, it's not worth it" I hear while I'm taking a puff on my cigarette. But he's right.

Now do Stick RPG 2 100%, All achievements Speed run.
That seems interesting
Here GTA devs, take notes
Oh boy, now I really want to see him speedrun the rest of the stick rpg series
Isn't there only 2?
This game is still classic. One of the most pure examples of the best parts of the internet.
Omg I used to play this game so much when I was a kid. Had no clue what I was doing but fun anyways
I used to do the infinite money glitch at the start then get everything. Didn't realise until years later that there was a complete version of the game, guess I had been playing like a demo version or whatever.
Y’know, you kinda get to an age at some point where you’ve remembered or rediscovered everything from your childhood, and it becomes rare to remember something you hadn’t already. This gem of a game, one of those rare few I hadn’t already remembered existed. So so so fun to see this.
Would actually be really interesting to watch a speedrun of StickRPG 2, dunno if its a thing but I hope so
Stickrpg 2 is a game and they do have speedruns
@@mastoid45 Ye I know stickRPG is a game, just didnt know if there were any speedrunning categories.

@@b-zar8912 I meant that you get it for the first pack. Giving them more is optional but I’m assuming is to 100% the game. Until watching this video I always assumed giving them more would just loop the text forever.
The actual life of a CEO.
This game is very nostalgic i really remembered my 10 year old me playing this, seeing u playing this bring me back my memories.
This is probably the most realistic RPG playthrough
The nostalgia of being in the back of the classroom lying about doing work hit me too hard
Yeah, its like a bus
"Making all this money from literally doing nothing" yup, sounds like investing lol
Btw, this game was my childhood... But I never knew you could invest and become president! I would just get in fights, buy drugs and end up getting robbed in other cities lol
Man I miss this kind of games.
i miss this games too
Stick rpg 2 still stands as one of the greatest browser games of all time right along sword and sandals and plazma burst 2
This brought back so many memories, thank you for playing this! Please try Stick RPG 2 as well!!
Walking in and immediately becoming the CEO is some Robert California shit
Omg i forgot about this game, was the best in class game no cap

In case you want to know how that other guy was able to sleep quickly he was doing tab+enter. I remember learning how tab can find clickable areas in flash games as a kid and abusing the same strat in StickRPG, so much fun lmao
"please never smoke, its never woth it."
That reminded me of a story my mother told me once...
So she was out with friends and one of them gave the others some cigarets, then tried to give one to my mother, she declined and the guy was like "oh don't be such a buzzkill!"
Wich she responded with: "i'd rather die normaly, thanks."
OH MY BLOODY GOD, I FINALLY FOUND THE GAME, THANKS TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS!!!
Why didn’t you just do stocks up until like 300k, bank, and then do the sleep part? Feels like it would have killed two children with skateboards with one stone.
Lmaooooo
With one smoke
or he couldve just glitched the bank money and gotten infinite money
"What were more doing right now is just sleeping over and over again"
Your character: **blinking intensifies**
This reminds me of a game I used to play called Pix City. Would love to see a speedrun of that.
0:42 "So we got a LITTLE lucky" me on my 30th try just losing all my money to the casino over and over...Yeah, a 'little' lucky
Loved this game as a kid😂 Now we just need a Max Dirtbike and mini putt speedrun!
8:45 It might be a touch screen computer where the person is using two hands to tap the two buttons.
3:21 what????. I don’t remember that. Your crazy.
Completely forgot this game was a thing.. Now I have to go home and play after work for nostalgic reasons.
"couldn't figure out how to sleep so quickly"
Never has a person uttered these words before
I can't even count how many times I played this damn game at school during study hall lol

Never thought I'd be seeing this game again, an extremely pleasant surprise! I say go play stick rpg 2 as well, its a real fun game!
Its crazy to see the same strat I used in 2007 still works
1:02 please never smoke anything *except medical marijuana
i saw this thumbnail in my recommend and my jaw actually dropped, i dont care what you have to say, thank you, i spent hours of my life on this
i remember this i think i played one where it had different parts of the city and like pimps and such it was so fun when i was younger
That's the sequel, Stick RPG 2. The director's cut is available on steam.

"So this is the fastest way of doing it. We literally just sleep. You know, in real life, maybe this isn't the greatest way to become president."
Are you sure about that?
Stick RPG and Stick RPG 2 were my childhood! It’s a shame they never made a third
"So at this point in the run, we're going to invest that money at the bank because that's going to gain some interest."
Probably the most underrated joke in this run.
The way that guy is sleeping so often, it looks like he's doing the old fashioned hitting tab and slapping enter while clicking the other button.
Ive been trying to find/remember this game since i was a kid and for years i never could find it or remember what its called and eventually gave up, years later it appears before me in my recommended 😂😭 thank you for this
For some reason I thought nobody knew about this game.

One of my favs lol
You could make this Speedrun faster if you purchased the gear when you had around 100k. It's just slightly fast but every time you sleep for the stock to change you would also gain int str and cha, which would reduce the overall amount of times you need to sleep
6:17 They do work that way actually, you just have to be rich enough to be invited into certain circles first.
you’re a World Leader now? Does that mean you can be invited to the United Nations?
@Pete Harrison why do you keep posting this link?
@@daemoh3696 it's a scam, a rickroll, or self-promotion.
Ah, the joys of growing up and realising this isn’t the passion project of ‘some teenager, just like me!’ and that ‘XGen Studios’ was very likely a business of Gen Xers, who used an art style that merely looked like an amateur flash production on the front.
