Great job brother. I love how you kept talking at the same time as you're showing case both products with details and showing the features as you're explaining so it doesnt look like you're rambling. 👍
I picked up the Duo and the Streamer X. I decided to skip the Rodecaster Pro 2 after buying the original Rodecaster Pro. The Duo was very much what I was looking for! I love the dual PC outputs.
Have you experienced a small hiss in the headphones while using the RCP2 or Duo? I have gain turned off, faders down, etc. and I get a slight noise floor with nothing going to the headphones. Is that normal for the RCP2? I haven't experienced it using headphones with my other interface or MBP.
It looks like a nice piece of kit. I decided to replace my Souncraft 12MTK with another one. I find it's great for live streaming and music production.
Hi! That's unfortunate to hear but keep in mind that the RODECaster Pro is primarily designed for podcasting and live streaming applications rather than DJing.
I like the Duo, but I don't wanna invest in another rode product. I mean I already have purchased the Rodecaster Pro 1 and 2 as well as both of their boom arms and headsets. But the duo would look nice on my desk. Hmmmm
Hi Concerened greatly about the under the radar complaints about Rodecasters build quality and faulty units . Looking at the Gigcaster 5 , as Boss has a reputation for quality control being good. would love to see a compaRISON
Headphone monitoring latency with the RODECaster Duo has been reported to be minimal and not a significant issue for most users. However, as an old radio guy, I often notice small latency.
Another big difference you missed in this summary between is the missing physical record button. Also still has the terrible power button on the back - wish they would add a power OFF feature in firmware via touch screen! TRRS is great, they should not have removed from Pro-2. Lacking microphone stand mount (VESA only on the DUO), strange the heavier Pro 2 has one and they removed for on the lighter DUO? Price point too high for me to get one as a travel unit. If I catch one on sale someday for 50% off, I'll consider.
Thanks for sharing your insights! It's unfortunate that some features like the physical record button is missing. Also, the differences between the TRRS and microphone stand mount choices between models can be puzzling. Price considerations are valid too. Hopefully, you'll find a great deal in the future that makes it more accessible for your needs.
I own the RodeCaster Pro 2 and love it BTW. If I did not already own one, I'd be a buyer of the Duo as a Windows computer interface. If I catch one on sale one day, I may buy a DUO for my voiceover recording booth. @@MikeRussell
I have an iRig Pre 2, that allows me to connect an XLR mic to a phone (via TRRS) while direct monitoring. I wonder if using this with the TRRS port on the Duo will allow for a 3rd XLR mic with direct monitoring.
Still only one XLR input on the iRig Pre 2. You can use two XLR mics with direct monitoring using the Rodecaster Duo's inputs the TRRS input may also add that functionality but it's not something I tested myself.
@@MikeRussellThe iRig Pre 2 would allow the use of a condenser mic with adjustable gain. If it works, I wonder how the sound quality would compare with that of the XLR inputs.
The RODECaster line is made by RODE witch is an Australian based company (I'm in Melbourne, Australia) Why is it $1,000- in Australia and only $699- in the USA......Feeling ripped of
You're welcome! No, the Rodecaster Pro is not compatible with the Blue Yeti USB mic. You’d need to plug is directly into your computer bypassing the RCP.
The RODECaster Pro 2 does provide more advanced features for professional podcasters and audio engineers but for a hobbyist or casual podcaster the RODECaster Duo should work great and save you some money.

Yes this one seems to suit my need a LOT better, and my budget, thanks for the review!

Glad you got what you wanted 👍
Is the smart pads that you can program to click to different apps quickly?
I picked up the Duo and love it. Would be good if you could do a walk through on how to connect it to your computer. Like using the Midi function.
Thanks for the suggestion

Not really anything noticable for me but not my current daily mixer.
@@MikeRussell Good to know. Thanks for sharing!

The Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK is a great desk
@@MikeRussell agreed. It is. I'd love to find a digital equivalent
Thank you so much for the review and great content. I was actually doing some research the past week into one of these. will get one of these.
Enjoy
Hi Mike the Mic ports on the Rodecaster Pro don't work with Virtual DJ shame as it's very good otherwise.
Hi! That's unfortunate to hear but keep in mind that the RODECaster Pro is primarily designed for podcasting and live streaming applications rather than DJing.
But can’t you connect an external mixer to the procaster duo so if you’re musician you can add more mics or for example a epiano?
Sure you could do that via line-in cables.
I like the Duo, but I don't wanna invest in another rode product. I mean I already have purchased the Rodecaster Pro 1 and 2 as well as both of their boom arms and headsets. But the duo would look nice on my desk. Hmmmm
Given your existing investment in RØDE products the RODECaster Duo is a nice addition to that family!

Hey Mike, what microphone are you using on this review?.Sounds great. Neumann?
Thanks! It's a Neumann U87.
I would have guessed a RODE NT1-A. I like mine... Neumann very nice!@@MikeRussell
I’m curious if ppl are finding headphone monitoring latency with the duo?

As far as I know there's only 1 XLR input so that's you limited to one microphone
@@MikeRussell oops. I forgot to specify. I meant plus the two that are on the Rodecaster Duo. Fixed.

Rodecaster duo is the better option rodecaster pro 2 is overkill
