  • HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT 6.0L LS CAM. WHAT LS TRUCK CAM WORKS BEST? HOW TO MAKE MORE LS POWER. WHICH LS CAM ADDS TORQUE? HOW WELL DOES THE SLOPPY STAGE 2 CAM WORK? WHICH IS BETTER, THE STOCK LS3 CAM OR BTR TRUCK CAMS? CHECK OUT THIS 6.0L CAM SHOOTOUT COMPARING SOME OF THE MOST POPULAR CAMS OUT THERE. THIS TEST SPANS THE LIMIT OF 6.0L CAMS THAT FIT THE STOCK PISTON-TO-VALVE CLEARANCE. I COMPARED THE STOCK 6.0L (LQ9) CAM TO THREE (EARLY V1) TRUCK CAMS (STANGE 1-3) FROM BRIAN TOOLEY RACING. i THEN COMPARED THE TRUCK CAMS TO THE FACTORTY LS3 CAM (VERY SIMILAR SPECS TO THE STAGE 1 TRK CAM). THE I COMPARED THE TRUCK CAMS TO THE POPULAR SLOPPY STAGE 2 CAM AND ILLUSTRATED WHY I WANT TO THEST THE NEW BTR TRUCK NORRIS CAM SO BADLY.

I was telling Richard the same thing. For a great low cost 6.0 build, you can't go wrong with a sloppy stage 2 cam. A used set of rec port heads and a used ls3 intake and fuel setup! You are now making 500+ hp and 475+ of tq! You can't do any better unless you are buying performance heads, intake or fuel systems

@@crw3673 I'm not an authority on camshafts. But like everyone else, I have opinions. The Comp Cam is 231/247 and Lift .617/.624. Summit's Stage 3 is 230/242 113+3, .625/.605 Lift and the Stage IV is 234/247 113 +3.5 .625/.605 Lift. Numbers-wise, there isn't a huge difference in intake duration, or exhaust duration, or even lift. *IF* the "best" cam in the bunch made 25 dyno (flywheel) hp more than the "worst" in the bunch, would you notice it on the street? Maybe in a very light car... So then there's quality and customer service. Both companies have solid products and great customer service. That's my opinion. Comp Cams LSR lobes are supposed to be the latest and greatest designs. Unless you're engineer, how can you argue? Tip top technology is not cheap. Is the extra $150 worth it over a Summit cam which is probably a solid time-tested design? I can't answer that one.

I'm curious as to what Truck Norris will do in a 6.0. Even a 6.2.
    I have one in a 4.8 (4" intake, ls3 throttle, tbss, 55lb/hr, ls6+ springs, 1 5/8 short tube, Magnaflow y pipe, 3" catback), and one in a short stroke 5.3(same as 4.8 except 799 heads, flat top pistons, 1 7/8" long tubes, x-pipe after transmission, 3" exhaust).
Given the similar output of the 5.3 BTR posts to the power of an ls2, I believe a rec port head 6.0 will get close to the 450 on both measurements. I want to see what it does because I am in the midst of building a 4th gen f-body with an ls2 swap.

I got a cam ground for my stock 4.8 with long tubes. And I lucked out, seeing how I knew way less than I do now. I made it 216/220 110+2. Low speed torque was compimised, but started pulling hard around 2700, pulled the hardest 5000-5500, and dropped off shortly after 7000. With the 4l60e trans, it worked best shifting outta 1st at 7100, and 2nd, 3rd shift points were at 6700. The 4.8 makes a small cam seem big. The truck Norris should suit it well.

Since you've ran just about every combo under the sun I was wondering if you knew something off the top of your head. Thanks to your recommendation I put a SS2 in my LS2. Very happy with it, it made 430whp in my GTO without breaking a sweat. But I was thinking about stepping up to 1.8 roller rockers mostly because theres alot more options in that department over the 1.7's. Since ratio shouldn't effect duration I should be fine with the piston to valve clearance right? I really dont wanna tear it down and check just to swap rocker arms

During the graph where you talk about the truck Norris cam and then go on to speak about 10hp difference, what cam is what? Your descriptions at the top don't really say which is which and when you displayed the cam specs around the 8min mark, they were all in the same color. Do you think you could label the names at the top is such a way that it would be something like " BTR sloppy stage 2" or a part number or something else easy to find instead of "final LS3 intake & summit cam17". I have no clue which cam that is.
