How I Relax My Hair (Tutorial)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2011
- I relax my hair every 8 weeks which my mum does for me. This video is just to show her relaxing my hair and is not an indication to say that you must relax your hair in the exact same way. My mum chooses to do it this way, so relax yours in the way you feel most comfortable.

Your mother is better than a lot of professionals that I've seen. Beautiful hair by the way.
This video got me itching for my next relaxer. Can't wait lol
Your mom is an angel. My mom hasn't relaxed my hair since I was a child! She does a great job with the smoothing too!
I am really inspired by your hair growth, I've done trial and error now for a few years and I think I've FINALLY got it!!! I can't go natural because my hair is way too thick and my schedule is way to busy to maintain and spend the time but I can do the hair growth and good maintenance with relaxing. I'm glad you update often and I will subscribe. Thanks!!
If you apply relaxers to the ends of your hair (that has already been relaxed) it will cause overprocessing thereby weakening your hair and causing it to break. Relaxers should only be put on the new growth.
No, I've not always used this relaxer kit, but have done so for many years now. Well done with your stretch, that must have been challenging. Glad to hear my techniques have been helpful to you and your very welcome!
love the way your mom did that..she knows what she's doing
That's great to hear your inspired! :) Good luck with your hair journey.
I am happy to see someone with long hair who relaxes after 8 weeks. I used to relax every 12-14 weeks but I have so much new growth now by 8 weeks that it is becoming more difficult to stretch that long.

You're so lucky u have ur mom to relax ur hair for u. She did a fantastic job.
awww...thank you! Sure, I will help in the best way I can.
Thanks. Yes I agree, my mum did apply more than usual this time round, but that's not done often.
Awww, how sweet! You make me miss my mommy. Seems like I will have to go back home so she can put my perm. Because I don't want to mess up:) Thank you for the wonderful videos!
It's best to read the instruction manual that comes with the relaxer kit you use. I use ORS Relaxer kit and the entire activator and relaxer must be added together in order for the hair to process correctly. But never worry about wastage.
I actually began my hair journey and managed to achieve all this with relaxed hair!!!
Love your accent ;) I’m going to relax my sister in-law hair tomorrow so thank you for your tips.
Thanks and you’re very welcome! 😊
Thank you!
Thank you! It took me 3 years and 8 months from Oct 2007 to June 2011.
Thanks. I use the Organics Olive Oil Relaxer kit. I showed it in the video.
Thanks very much!
Thank you and your welcome!
Yes many, many years ago!
I was always taught to use Vaseline all over my scalp before relaxing to stop my scalp from burning? Would you say that's not a good idea? Thanks
awww...thank you!
The best thing to do, is to smooth the relaxer down over the hair, so it goes flat, rather than raised. That's how I can tell when my hair has relaxed properly.
u did an amazing job!
Try massaging those areas (gently with your finger tips) with either Castor Oil or Coconut oil on a daily basis to help stimulate hair growth.
Your mom does a great job! I was wondering what brand of relaxer does she use?
Very nice job, I am loving this length!!
+Katherine Brown Thank you.
This is definitely the correct way to perm ❤❤ thanks for reminding me
You’re welcome! ❤️
Beautiful retouch
Do you ever mix your relaxer cream with an essential oil (like olive/coconut oil) to avoid over processing and/or burning? I am considering doing this since I occasionally suffer from psoriasis...
Best relaxer video I've seen thus far! 👋👋👋
Thank you Tanece :)
Whew, I feel my head burning just by watching. I don't miss these days. Lol
^Passive aggressive comment alert
well it depends on the relaxer you use, i used olive oil relaxer and my scalp burned. but when i used dark and lovely my scalp didn't burn at all.
LvnaTea Lq Lmao
Aishaaxn They all burn. Tbh.
Me too
OMG mate your skin is so gorgeous...Flawlesss!!! Your mummie did a great job!!! Send her to GA. my way -LOL
Just watched all your videos and im now a new subby :-) Ive jkust recently started a new hair regimen so thank you for all ur useful tips!x
Yes, just the application time and then wash off immediately.
Where are the gloves!? Chemical services require gloves if you want to have any feeling in your hands years down the line. Great application though!
Not everyone uses gloves.
@@amiriashuler6409 but everyone should!
@annika9348 will you die?😂😂😂
How long do you sit with the relaxer on? just the application time and then wash it straight out?
Thank you! I have thought about going natural before, so who knows. I wouldn't rule anything out.
Your mum's got lovely hands. Remind me of my own mum's.
Thank you. I'll tell her that :)
I was just wondering, what would the ratio be for the relaxer and developer for someone who doesn't use a whole pot because it'll get wasted?
Yes it's more or less always been 2 months.
Normal Strength - ORS Olive Oil Relaxer kit
I never leave the relaxer on my hair, instead I wash it out as soon as it's all been applied. If your hair is breaking at the front, then avoid relaxing that area for now or if you can, try and stretch your relaxer to allow time for your temples to grow back.
Interesting
Her scalp must be really strong, I however have fears with relaxing the other parts of the hair, don't want it to get weak, but then again it doesn't stretch.. Puffs up!
Yeah for me, by 8-9 weeks my roots are extremely course and hard to manage too, so I don't leave it any longer.
She is good at it❤
awww...thank you :)
what a nice mum
Yep, she is! 😀
WOW! I wish my mum could relax my hair!!! u have the most AMAAAAZING skin btw! :O
how much time do you leave the relaxer in??? and right now im having some problems with my temples my hair has been fallen and im trying to grow it back with castor oil so i dont know if i should apply relaxer to this area or just leave it like that
Hey, what did you use to 'base' the hair before relaxing? I have used petroleum jelly and I'm wondering what other options there are.
Wow your hair is really healthy.
Thanks for subscribing! :)
hi nice video, how did you grow your hair, its beautiful x
Bless up from Nassau Bahamas 242! I Cannot believe this video came out in 2011 when I check the dates/year on youtube, look like this video done today in 2023 lol...❤❤❤❤🎉😂😂😂🎉🎉
What do you think about Keratin Relaxers.
It depends on your hair type. If you have course hair, then you will probably need to use a stronger strength to help straighten your hair. So using 'Super' may be the better option for you.
Lots of interesting tips in this video.... Thanx.
Your welcome!
hey:) i love ur vids and i have a question.. how long did it take to grow ur beautiful hair that long ? :)
I just relaxed my hair, i only put it on top because your only supposed to add it to the growth. I need help i dont know what hair products to use for my hair to make it grow. Any help?
i love your skin colour what cream do u use for your face!?? and i love your hair
have you always used olive oil? i use optimum anti-breakage regular strength. it comes with a protein treatment to strengthen the hair. i just relaxed today after 2.5 months of stretching. i was on a 4-5 week touch-up routine, so this was major for me. i have been using some of your techniques for moisturizing and my hair feels great. thanks for posting this video!
@leauxlita Your most welcome, thanks for subbing :)
I'm a hair junky!!!!! i'll admit it.... you just got a new subbie i watched all your video... wish there was more!!! :)
@cherrypops3 Yes she's really good with helping me. She's relaxed also.
Hey I Just Wanted To Know How Long Between Relaxers Do You Stretch?
Your skin is amazing
This video is great!
Thanks, glad you enjoy it!!! :)
I don't leave it on. I wash it out as soon as it's all been applied.
the ors no lye was my relaxer of choice back in the day, it really gets ur hair laid and soft lol....i'm natural now for 3 years but i still use the replenishing pak, its a bomb dc.
Very helpful
Thank you and thanks for subbing! :)
I use oils for massaging purposes only!
I use the same thing as you and makes hair silky I got mine from Luton and usually products like olive oil and mayonnaise(not literally mayonnaise) I think your beautiful and your hair is too! 💋❤️I do mine every maybe 4 or 5 months to keep it silky and less dry and damaged❤️
Chloe Clark Awww...thanks so much! :) Yes, I do like this relaxer kit and I've been using it for a long time now.
Ur complexion is actually really nice
+Hi I'm Kentucky. Thank you!
I love getting my hair done
Here in Congo, we use a comb to smooth it otherwise it won"t get that souple.
and btw i relax with Olive Oil Super for coarse hair.
Is it wrong??
Okay, thank you.
what is the song playing ? Like the actual song
hello Healthy Afro Hair 2 years ago i chopped off my hair because of too much hair dye and relaxing.. Today my mom relaxed my hair , and i was wondering how i could look after my hair properly. I mean once i relax my hair, how many times would i need to relax my hair to maintain my hair growth and health?
How long do you keep it in for?
do you apply scalp protector?
tks, the things is i already stretch for 3 months!!! im kind of getting desperate but i will try to stretch a little more
I'm not really sure, because I don't pay close attention to notice how soon it comes through.
Thank you. Ohh...it did! :)
All that long lovely hair!
Thank you!
Glad i'm not the only one who doesn't use gloves. I feel like I get better results not wearing them lol. I do oil my hands downs before hand though
That's a good idea :) My mum likes to feel the hair and to smooth it down, to ensure it's being processed.
They come with gloves for a reason
Naturalle salon as I said.
What can happen if you forget to exotict oil boost?
Hey, i found your videos very helpful, a blog about relaxed hair nowadays you find more natural hair videos. And have you ever tried to Relax with Gentle Treatment it keeps a bit of the aural hair texture that way the hair doesn't feel so empty.
venida5feelings Glad to hear you find them useful :) No, I've not heard of it, however, I texlax, so this helps to keep some of my natural texture.
Healthy Afro Hair i need help is relaxing your hair good or bad cause im forced to relax my hair but i used a relaxer it was called motions and it was SO BAD IT burnt my scalp i usualy use olive oil the one you used its great i use there brand and my hair is down way past my arms so reaxing good or bad?
beautiful hair!! It didn't look like you needed a re
How do you know when the hair has relaxed?
did you accept video response ?
@keedaomen Before I started my hair care journey, I used to relax my hair every 6 weeks, but since starting I decide to stretch it to every 8 weeks. Stretching can be good, however, not everyone's hair can take it. So you have to be careful not to overdo stretch and 'listen to your hair' as you rightly said. My hair was due the weekend gone, but I'm stretching another week making it 9 weeks.
Ok thanx
What do you base your hairline with?
How long do u let the relaxer stay in ur hair?
@BLU3R0S3S1 Not really, it's more about how long you leave the relaxer on your hair that dictates whether not it's texlaxing.
@keedaomen I show this on my 'How I blow dry my hair' video. I'll be posting that video shortly.
ohmgeee i love how you talk >.< lOl , & great vid !!
