  • I relax my hair every 8 weeks which my mum does for me. This video is just to show her relaxing my hair and is not an indication to say that you must relax your hair in the exact same way. My mum chooses to do it this way, so relax yours in the way you feel most comfortable.

    I am really inspired by your hair growth, I've done trial and error now for a few years and I think I've FINALLY got it!!! I can't go natural because my hair is way too thick and my schedule is way to busy to maintain and spend the time but I can do the hair growth and good maintenance with relaxing. I'm glad you update often and I will subscribe. Thanks!!

    If you apply relaxers to the ends of your hair (that has already been relaxed) it will cause overprocessing thereby weakening your hair and causing it to break. Relaxers should only be put on the new growth.

    No, I've not always used this relaxer kit, but have done so for many years now. Well done with your stretch, that must have been challenging. Glad to hear my techniques have been helpful to you and your very welcome!

    I am happy to see someone with long hair who relaxes after 8 weeks. I used to relax every 12-14 weeks but I have so much new growth now by 8 weeks that it is becoming more difficult to stretch that long.

    It's best to read the instruction manual that comes with the relaxer kit you use. I use ORS Relaxer kit and the entire activator and relaxer must be added together in order for the hair to process correctly. But never worry about wastage.

    The best thing to do, is to smooth the relaxer down over the hair, so it goes flat, rather than raised. That's how I can tell when my hair has relaxed properly.

    Try massaging those areas (gently with your finger tips) with either Castor Oil or Coconut oil on a daily basis to help stimulate hair growth.

    Do you ever mix your relaxer cream with an essential oil (like olive/coconut oil) to avoid over processing and/or burning? I am considering doing this since I occasionally suffer from psoriasis...

    I never leave the relaxer on my hair, instead I wash it out as soon as it's all been applied. If your hair is breaking at the front, then avoid relaxing that area for now or if you can, try and stretch your relaxer to allow time for your temples to grow back.

  • @HealthyAfroHair

    It depends on your hair type. If you have course hair, then you will probably need to use a stronger strength to help straighten your hair. So using 'Super' may be the better option for you.

    @HealthyAfroHair  12 років тому

    @keedaomen Before I started my hair care journey, I used to relax my hair every 6 weeks, but since starting I decide to stretch it to every 8 weeks. Stretching can be good, however, not everyone's hair can take it. So you have to be careful not to overdo stretch and 'listen to your hair' as you rightly said. My hair was due the weekend gone, but I'm stretching another week making it 9 weeks.
