You can tell from this video that they were going to be huge. I was so lucky to see them in their prime and they were such a killer live metal band and the crowd was always raging! Every time I saw them the crowds and pits got bigger and bigger. PRAISE HAIL PANTERA!
Personally, I thought they only got better over time. I really like each different era of Pantera starting when Phil joined the band. Even their first "Power Metal" album with Phil (the only other place he does the shrieking high pitched vocals aside from CFH) has some pretty cool moments. They were clearly riding the corny "glam metal" trend of the 80's at that point, but they still kicked ass and brought the intensity during the live shows. Cowboys From Hell is definitely where it all came together, but after they found their own unique style, it seemed like they only got heavier and more extreme with each album and I was loving all of it. They seemed unstoppable.
My mom hung out at Joe's Garage in the 80s when she was a teenager and she saw Pantera before they were a huge band. I'm a huge metalhead and I would've been here all the time! This is my kind of place!

Phil Anselmo’s headbanging is off the fucking wall in this video. He seriously looks like a mad man. Seeing Dime shred away on the early Cowboys from Hell material is beautiful. Plus, it’s always a pleasure to see Rex & Vinnie stay tight with their respective instruments. Also, for 1990 the quality of this video is absolutely incredible. God bless you for uploading this. RIP, Vinnie & Dime.
Times and places like this will never exist again. I count myself fortunate to have seen it.
Damn they opened with shattered! I didn't think they ever played that song live
I saw them at Joe's Garage in 1989. Amazing, but sadly, those days are long gone. Dime is god-like, Phil screaming like a maniac, Vinnie killing it on drums and Rex laying it down! Thank you Godfather 123 for posting this, Dime will live forever! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
So awesome seeing this guys figuring out their setlist. Backstage footage is just pure gold
Phil telling Darrel to quiet a minute, I go thru same shit, how ya expect us be quiet with a guitar hangin' on us? Lol
This is so fucking awesome I can't believe I'm watching this right now! I wish concerts were still like this!
well, here in chile concerts are still brutal
Uhhhh they still are
Everyone i go to is. If not i do my best to make it that way!

Music scenes like this don’t exist anymore.
You got that right. I've been nostalgic about the 90's lately....
Just depends where u are...We have a huge local metal scene in my city
Yea it does lol
The EDM scene here in Miami is huge lol

PanterA was by far, the best live band ever in my opinion.
@Alvaro Hygino :s
Pantera & Deftones of early 2000' era
🤜🏼The Stones and Pantera. 2 best live bands of all time 🤟🏼🎸🤟🏼 Long live the ultimate spirit of Damond
For me? Sepultura Arise tour...best show
Them and Rammstien
Shattered and Clash With Reality are really quite hard to find live footage of. Totally baddass!!
Including medicine man. /m\
ive seen them 4 times and they never played either.
and hair raises on my body, its goddamn electric!
Ideed.Such a cool video.Phil can really scream these high notes live.AWESOME
Totally agreed, man!!
I love the girls up front banging their heads and the people jumping off the stage into the crowd. people don't know how awesome these times were... never be again... I hate technology
Hardcore shows today are 10x more crazy. It's still going on.
I've never seen a girl in the crowd ever headbang before. That was epic
@J. M. M. Yes, no one cared, it was all about fun, jI remember thinking that this kind of thing would never die, but where is music today? It's all talentless thugs. I mean you have to have talent to come up with harmonizing tunes, it wasnt just metal, it was the songs, and Dimebag's solos..no one cared if the kids from the audience got up on stage and dove on them, everyone was cool to eachother.
@@TheLoyalSpirit I never have either, if you look cllose, there are about 3 of them. You know how loud it is up there? My ears are still ringing from the 90s
J.M.M., no one was holding their phone up recording and taking pictures, either, everyone was in the moment
The last comment was spot on and I must say the best old footage that I’ve ever seen as a true original 53 yr old Pantera fan! The best vintage ever! All the best to the best! Happy new year to everyone 🙏
This is the Pantera I miss the most. They were as good here as anytime in their careers.
Tears welling up. That's the magic. On stage so young. Unbelievable thanks for sharing this
I saw these guys twice , once at Newcastle town hall uk 1994 and the literary blew the hall up and had to cancel the gig. Then saw the them at monsters of Rock 1994. They will never be replaced................Best Band Ever
Donington 94.. .Pantera, Sepultura and Biohazard, fucking good times
When Men were Men, Chicks were Chicks , and MUSIC WAS ACTUALLY MUSIC \m/
Fucking rite
I wasn’t even alive in the 90s and I miss the 90s 😂
LOL I think you've forgotten that was in the middle of GLAM era
Amen Brother!!!☠😤🥃🥃🥃
Right on
There will never be another lineup like this. Makes me both happy and very sad.
Wow, this footage is part of rock / metal music history.
R.I.P Dime and Vinnie.
wow this is like totally early-day underground shit! Priceless!
And they played so fucking tight
I know right everyone was going apeshìt.
isn't anyone noticing "The shortest straw" playing in the background?
Joshan Sharma sure did dude 🤘🏻
Everyone noticed.
I surely did! To me it looked like people were also singing the chorus on top of the track! Good old Metallica!
No-one noticed EXHORDER scrawled on the wall?
Hell yeah
Never got to see Pantera at Joe's with a crowd, or Phil. Every time I went there there was a handful of people and they played a ton of Metallica songs. It was still epic, sitting on the stage with a pitcher of beer watching Pantera, it gets no better.
There will NEVER, ever be another band this god damn powerful, unbelievable. The combination of extremely early 90’s and Pantera just hitting their prime. Dimebags energy, passion, style, all was one in a billion!!This vid is amazing, thanks for sharing.
Ah, the Joe's Garage da(z)e. Will never forget!
Damn, Phil rocked right out of his shorts ! What a bunch of badasses.
This historical video should be in the Smithsonian! \m/
Awesome, I was there to see "the great Pantera!" For 5 measly bucks!!! Down a few cold brews, smoke a few and catch the baddest band around \m/
Lucky man
I know 5 fuckin bucks... I literally paid one time w/ get this,,, dimes!!!!!!! I wanna jump into my phone and leave a note.... Please break this ph9ne against nearest wall.... Wow that would be called "shit hole Joe's garage time machine" what a movie that could be!!!
That's super awesome. I wish I had a chance to see them as well as a lot of other bands that aren't around or don't play anymore.
Hard to believe this was almost 30 years ago
Super lucky man!!!! I'd sell my soul to hear Dime play for a minute. Too bad im 17
Definetely: bands like THAT doesn't exists anymore. Period. That indescribable energy has remained there, 32 years ago, in 1990.
Pantera pulverized it, killed it - ain't got the words to describe, man!
I blame iPhones and woke people
Lol! Phil trying to get Dimes attention to get the set list written but Dime keeps playing.
RetroHabit82 - What an ass clown. Didn't he wear pink spandex and makeup when he was in Stryper?
Yea that was hilarious

That breakdown in "Domination". Fuuuuuck. I wanted to jump in that pit.
That is because you weren't in that pit
Eric Jesse was
@@deaniverson4671 cool Pantera had some awesome pits. You would go in and completely get crazy and the shit beaten out of, but if anyone fell, multiple hands would jerk you up to relative safety.
The stage at Joe’s Garage was so small, and if you were on the floor it went up to only about your waist. You felt like you were on stage with them the energy was unlike anything possible in any other venue with any other band.
diamond darrell was playing some stuff that didnt appear until vulgar
The guy had a huge backlog of stuff he wrote, the outro to floods for example was written back in the 80s as a lullaby for Rita (His girl)
I can't believe this video has been up for 6 years and I'm just now seeing it. This is solid gold as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for this video! I used to see them regularly at Joes Garage when I lived there! Everyone there knew they were part of something special!
R. I. P. Abbott Brothers..... you will be missed. By everybody that was at Joe's Garage in the old days.....
never seen this before... I thought I had seen them all...thank you very much for sharing this
Man, this brings back the memories of seeing them at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City somewhere around 90...91. Those shows were INSANE. Everybody knew the band was going to be huge. Pantera wasn't just a band, they were a force of nature.
That was December of 91 man ! We road tripped from Fort Worth to go see them there ! They did lots of gigs in the 80's here at Joe's Garage and some epic ones at The Basement in Dallas too !
+Fort Worth Texas+
+Pantera for life+

Probably my fav live performances,
You can definitely tell when a band has that undefinable fire, that just blazes the crowd.
Man I barely survived my first Pantera show! All the stage divin and mosh pittin was OUT OF CONTROL! I was front row with Phil screaming in my face, dudes jumping on my head, and roid ragers behind me in the PIT! I made it through to see Skid Row kill their set . What a SHOW,
For the love of God can someone please make a time machine and take me back to this show?!?!
GODDAMN I am with you dude.. Let's fucking go.
They probably already have made one. People are too busy with their jobs and politics, worrying about fear mongering, and finances to expose anything.
Dylan Put if you get access to a time machine, I want to go back to the 80’s, please
Notify🤘🏻
Those were some GREAT DAYS back then, lived and went to school in Lake Worth, serving in the Military in the 80’s and 00’s didn’t have the long head banging hair then like I had in the 70’s Led Zeppelin!!! Time
Machine needed!!!
Please don’t take Our Lord’s Name in vain. Peace!
This is what is all is about, having a drink/smoke , live gigs, going crazy and letting it all out. This IS Pantera.
What else is there?

There are no words to describe this. Pantera at its best, thanks so much for sharing.
RIP Dime & Vinnie, you are missed.
no cell phones. my god they were so good, so early already.
-Mind- you know they were around since 81 right?
They had been around for awhile at this point. Phil was new to the band but pantera was formed in the early 80s and didnt achieve mega fame till cfh.
Please don’t take Our Lord’s Name in vain. Peace!
It doesn’t get more metal than this.
That place was so awesome! Total shit hole bar, but man it rocked. I was there for many of their shows and at The Basement in Dallas. This is so awesome!
My 1st Show at Joes Garage was Death Angel, Forbidden and local band Arcane ... back in early 90'

This is a truly magical video of a moment in time of the best and tightest metal band ever. It honestly brought tears to my eyes. No one will ever bring it the way they did. Fuck, do I miss them! RIP Dime and Vinnie.
I'd give anything to go back in time and be in that crowd. what amazing footage.
Hahahahah back when phil had is voice. Good grief what a scream.
Dime was one of the most underrated guitarist ever! Man should be in the top five ever! I’m 51 and this shit brings back good times!
Underrated? Yeah right.
I mean underrated he’s about the most popular metal
Guitarist of all time n he’s been dead for dam near 20years
Nah not underrated at all!
My god Dime Bags playing ...man it brings tears to my eyes during DOMINATION

Wow!!! Those were some awesome day, a true headbangers ball at Joe’s Garage. When Joe’s closed we went to Kroger’s on the other side of 820 for munchies.🤘🏻
Our stop was the Jack in the Box down the road for Tacos & Burgers! Lol

We all loved the owner of Joe's Garage, Abdul. He was like a cool dad!
This was every weekend in 88 and 89 either the basement or Joe's Garage this was the scene and if you were fortunate to experience it you got to experience the band on a different level I remember the night they played medicine man for the first time at Joe's we have been listening to them practice it for weeks at the jam room in Pantego it was one hell of an experience my favorite thing to do is try to beat the band to the basement from Jose on a Saturday night and be able to order a Kamikaze before the band got there Good Times..
I’m 22 and will always love Pantera till the day I die ever since my parents introduced me when I was very young. Always come back to this video.. This is straight up history. The energy they brought could take down nations and the crowd didn’t know they were just getting started. GETCHA PULL!!! RIP DIAMOND DARREL RIP VINNIE
This was shot before Phil became “Unscarred”.
Lmao
before the tattoo?

I can feel the remnants of the energy thorough the decades. So bad ass.
