    The guides speech at the end is really what this was all about. It is a very beautiful thing to hear him say "we are all normal persons". That to me will always resonate within me. I hope the future holds less fear and more togetherness, not only with relations with the DPRK and the US but worldwide if possible. Take care everyone!

    • @leabriana1223

      He posted a video explaining why he feels he can't. His trip was organized by a relief group that is allowed to do work in North Korea and saying negative things could put harm to the organization's ability to help the people of NK.

    • @leabriana1223
      @leabriana1223 8 років тому +1

      Like Peace said- the natives in the video can be put at risk also. Many people who film in NK that are looking to speak about it later will often times not show their tour guides so they don't put them at risk of punishment or death.

    • @Bartman487
      @Bartman487 8 років тому +1

      Lea Briana Unfortunately its the reaction ppl have had to his content that has caused that. If no one created such an uproar there would be no problem and I think the you are blowing it a bit out of proportion. The west has its own agenda too with everything we consume essentially being propaganda so everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. You need to hear both sides to create a well informed decision. Also bear in mind that having a polar opposite way of living will always be put down by the other side. We would moan about heavily communist countries despite the root of communism being that everyone are equal.

    There is a reason why such a large country as North Koran barely has any cars. People are walking and riding bikes. There is no internet but a filtered version of it. Windows 98 is the main computer software. Touring with a group is mandatory. Citizens cannot leave the country.

      They're just blind and just bad as the government who want to pretend that these horrible things don't exist. I didn't even list the over million people who starve to death because of the food shortage. With all this "positivity" Louis is showing. It looks like N.Korea is in good shape. It's fine. The people are having fun. "So let's not worry about it."
      Meanwhile the government only allowed the group to show him things that they want them to see - in places they can only go. As stated in the video introduction.

      "Windows 98, few cars, filtered internet..." => what the hell are you talking about ? These are like 1st-World problems for these people ! Many of them starve to death or suffer from malnutrition, they get kidnapped and tortured for silly reasons, their whole family get slaughtered if one of them gets convicted for subversion...
      Situation is even much worse than what you describe

      +jo kerh i agree that north Korea would have tried to make there country look and seem normal to distract people from its poverty but its not just the north who are at fault here. The United states are also to be blamed for meddling in their a fairs and placing sanctions on north Korea which has lead it to be under developed. Yes north Korea has a big issue with human rights but so does Saudi Arabia. The united states only question countries that don't benefit their agenda. They wont let countries they do not like have nuclear weapons simply because they cant control them but they're are the only country to have used a weapon of mass destruction when bombing Japan.

    • @alihussain6269
      @alihussain6269 8 років тому +1

      +Nathan Norris There are two things to be blamed here. both the fact there are sanctions on this country and the fact that its run by some dictator. The sanctions have stopped the economy from developing leading to mass starvation and poverty. This bring about the question of human rights. The dictatorship is run on fear and loyalty which is why everyone living in the north has no access or communication with the rest of the world. The north knows that once people learn that others are living a pleasant life outside of their country it will cause alot more people to think for themselves and demand rights rather then simply following the propaganda. Dictatorships never work.

    Really enjoyed this North Korea Vlog series! Have followed you on instagram for years, but not many UA-cam Videos. Honestly, I think the quote of the trip was from the Tour Guide in this video: "Despite goverment relationships between DPRK and USA (and West basically), you guys are just people" and govermental disputes shouldn't prevent countrymen atleast trying to interact, be civil and possibly form friendships! And it was nice to see you lot bond on that level.
    Glad you're back safe Louis! Enjoy the rest of the day! 😊
    Oh and also... I miss Miss Kim already, shame we didn't see a bigger goodbye between you lot and her :/ But hopefully we reunion is pending! 😁

    My grandfather was an Army Captain in the Chinese army, he fought against the US during the Korean war, and even though it's sad what NK has turned into since the 1990s but I think it's always better to engage rather than give them the cold shoulders, ultimately the Kim family is probably the most insecure rulers in the world, the more you antagonize them the more they feel the need to be closed off to the world.

    The tour bus guide speech at the end was important. We are just normal people that all similar in many ways; however we are just divided by government, boarders and religion. He wants the DPRK to be more friendly with the outside world and wants foreigner influence to help change or improve the DPRK society. Loved watching the entire trip and I'm sure this is one you will never forgot.

    You could tell you really made that male tour-guides life. He was holding back those emotions but it was clear that the trip changed his life. All the smiles the trip brought to the people you came in contact with while surfing and skating should have made the trip worth it. Louis is not dumb he understands what the people there go through and what kind of leadership they are under. It comes down to they get to interact with a very narrow margin of the population and only see a facade. However, those people he did see and interact with deserve joy, and happiness, and kindness which is exactly why Louis went (even if they were not representative of the base population).

      ***** Aye, but its the same in most of the world, terrible things are going on all the time, we dwell on them too much, and seeing this country portrayed in this light makes a change, and we actually got to see the countryside, unlike most other videos about the DPRK

    • @ValorousDefined
      @ValorousDefined 8 років тому +1

      ***** I also get what you're saying, but Louis doesn't have to show you the entire country, what is going on everywhere all the time, it would be impossible. That is what we have google for, do our own research. Alls Im saying is before I saw this, all I had seen of North Korea was footage from like the 1980's of people in camps that were starving, this sheds to different light into a very much unknown country

    Focus on the positives!! Haha! What a joke!
    Don't think a few surfboards and skateboards are going to change North Korea. 99.9999% of North Koreans don't get to surf or skateboard or go to waterparks! I think they are mostly concerned about not starving to death or having themselves and their families put into forced labor camps.
    I think Louis really needed to do a lot more research before going there. I've always enjoyed his videos but this series has really made me think he is quite narrow minded! And as for the rest of them, they just really need to wake up and see what the hell is really going on!

    • @explary
      @explary 8 років тому +2

      I dont think he is narrow minded, he is probably just very careful about what he says for his friends, the guides and his own protection. When visiting North Korea they are only allowed to follow their guides, and I've heard of cases where the people going on these trips got in big trouble for minor mistakes. I'm personally happy he shares what HE saw, even though it may not at all justify what N.K is like for most of the population there.

      I understand what the tours are like in DPRK, I have quite the interest in it and have for quite some time.
      It would be just like someone going to Syria and just focusing on the positives whilst ignoring the atrocities.
