James Thompson (White) Paul Morphy (Black) Italian Game: Evans Gambit. Pierce Defense This game was played in New York (1857) Oct-07 Thanks for watching.
I remember the following comment, if I'm not mistaken, in Idel Becker's chess manual that Morphy was an artist of the chessboard with respect to the famous opera game, precisely at the queen sacrifice before the mate (and adds that a brutal mate with the queen would be a butcher method).
When Morphy plays the Evans' Gambit he demonstrates how to win with it; when he plays against the Evans he shows how to win against it! Does this mean he could turn the tables on any opponent alive today? Yes. Imagine if he were let loose among modern players, who can't seem to manage without access to computer databases. He was the most natural player of all time, with Capablanca a close second, & both would instinctively find the right move irrespective of modern theory. Another great game from the master of strategy, who invariably confined his attack to one side of the board.
This is a stunning combination by Morphy but hats off to Thomson he was genuinely at he also calculated how he was losing albeit two moves later hey was what you call Monday morning quarterback
Great video and good explanations. Learning so much as a beginner to advanced levels. Attack attack attack was Paul’s n perhaps everyone game except me. I was defence defence defence
Si con solo 2 años de juego nos dejó todas estas obras de arte... imagínense si hubiera seguido jugando!! Digan lo que digan ,Para mí es el jugador de ajedrez más grande de todos los tiempos
...well to be the best chess player ever lived, I think you see if you mostly not see what comes next, and this master has been Morphy, very for shure..my own skills are not enough to survive simply an opening against him, but for beginners it is sometimes easier to see and feel..
The two dancing knights! without his rooks how did morphy win and that too against evans gambit which Thomson played very well in the beginning only Morphy knows how he did it what a game by Morphy!
I don't care what anyone says: Paul Morphy is the greatest chess player of all times.
Morphy was def the most creative of all time.
I agree
