In Vietnam when I was a Marine platoon commander, there wasn't any potable water to dehydrate freeze dried food because there wasn't any dehydrated food. We had C-Rations and everything was in a cam with huge amounts of preservatives or in an accessory pack with powdered coffee, etc. Our biggest problem back then was water. There was no such thing as bottled water nor was there a way to deliver potable water by helicopter. We filled our canteens with whatever water was available locally and in a last case, we would use rice paddy water which stunk more than crap. So we would put three times the amount of water purification tables in to try to kill whatever was swimming around. We were always sick, but we didn't know from what because there were so many options.. Except for a few individual cans in certain C-Ration boxes, they all tasted pretty bad. Seriously, the can of Beef with Potatoes tasted to me like something out of a cesspool. I see these modern MRE's today, and by comparison the Vietnam C-Rations from the Korean War and WW II tasted not only horrible but we tried everything we could to kill the taste. We'd add cocoa power to the beef and potatoes, or powdered coffee to beans with franks (aka beans with baby dicks). And the Lima Beans with Ham were called (ham and motherf**kers). We had names for all of the crap C-Rations that can't be expressed here. There were a few that were eatable such as the small can of turkey loaf, the small can of beef steak slice. or the small can of ham slices. Notice that most of the small cans were pretty good, but the big cans were terrible. There were very small cans of peanut butter, cheese; and medium sized cans of breads of some sort. (ugh). The can of peanut butter was always grainy, the oil had separated and it was and old tasting. The cheese was uneatable as far as I was concerned. I was first introduced to MRE's when supporting military exercises after I had retired from the Marine Corps and was supporting military exercises around the world. The MREs were a hundred times better than the C-Rations in Vietnam. But those military eating MRE's complained. I could only wonder what they would have thought about C-Rations that had more embalming preservatives than the morgue. Times change and memories are lost. Compared to C-Rations, MREs are like a White House formal dinner and those with whom I shared MRE's on the exercise, complained. I only wish they could have eaten the C-Rations. She makes the best videos on UA-cam. Her description of tastes are like no other. Love your videos Emmy! Everyone else just eats or taste stuff and don't tell us anything lol. She makes you feel like you're eating it too
I like that they had Louisiana brand hot sauce. It's less vinegary than Tabasco. Here in Louisiana, the main kinds you see at restaurants are Tabasco, Louisiana, and Crystal - the last two being less vinegary. Love these MRE videos! It's really interesting to see what other countries put in theirs.
Love the MRE videos! For my coffee, I like it sweet, white, and hot - just like me! Or I mix the chocolate powder in with it, been doing that since the 80's! Yum!
I like my coffee strong, and I drink it black without sugar. I love to make it the night before, and then put it in the fridge overnight! Pour it in a whiskey glass, and drink!
+rosselur Actually, I wouldn't have said that decilitre is a very common measurement term. I can figure it out because I understand what deci- means, but here in Australia we mostly just use millilitre and litre.
No, not at all. At least in Australia a decilitre is not a commonly used measurement. We use litres and millilitres. A decilitre is between those 2, so the amount can be expressed using either one of those. So 3 decilitres is 300mL, which is the most common way to express this volume, at least in Australia.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this really didn't seem like a military ration pack to me. Everything inside looks very consumer grade and more like something you would buy to put in the basement or when you go camping instead of something that is given to soldiers in the field.
Swedish military rations are just like that, they were developed by 24 Hour Meals. In fact, quite a few countries in Europe use at least some level commercial components, often a significant amount.
+Sniggwaffles The British Army did some research that showed that having recognisable brands was actually good for morale: "a taste of home" and all that. Soldiers reported that tea from familiar branded packets tasted better than tea from plain ones, even though it was exactly the same tea!
It says "combat" on the package, and was sent by someone who is in the army, and who knows for sure these are used in the army, but you are right, it probably isn't... duh!!
I love how your expression doesn't really change when something is terrible (when you're in the process of eating it anyway lol) so it's always a surprise since i always expect you to say it's okay.
You're so nice and personable Emmy. You remind me of my mum, she was a primary school teacher and had similar mild gentle mannerisms and speech to yours. She died when I was 17 and it's nice to be reminded of her, especially when coupled with loads of yummy food!

+Cooking With Cows Hahaha. No, you've got my curiosity piqued - I'll have to watch them for myself.
I think that's the first time I have ever seen Emmy spit something out lol. Great video.
Joining the Swedish Army
I like that they had Louisiana brand hot sauce. It's less vinegary than Tabasco. Here in Louisiana, the main kinds you see at restaurants are Tabasco, Louisiana, and Crystal - the last two being less vinegary.
Love these MRE videos! It's really interesting to see what other countries put in theirs.
what do u do with the leftover food do u eat it all? like the entrées
Love the MRE videos!
For my coffee, I like it sweet, white, and hot - just like me!
Or I mix the chocolate powder in with it, been doing that since the 80's! Yum!
Decilitre 1/10 of a litre or 3.38 us ounces. You went thru the full 'mmm' scale on this review.
Great video Emmy another good vid from the best taste tester on the big UA-cam
I like it when she doesn't like something, lol.
ASMRkrakenface I think it's because she's the sweetest thing and thays the most negative she gets
true
I think you really liked this one Emmy , I am still watching new and older Videos that you have made . your making me hungry.
I like my coffee strong, and I drink it black without sugar. I love to make it the night before, and then put it in the fridge overnight! Pour it in a whiskey glass, and drink!
Christopher McCord just like my dad...
Sometimes he will make the coffee in the morning and accidentally wake everyone up.
Thumbs up, dude.
And I love the ration videos!
Those noises she makes after she eats something lol😂
XD mm
+Harin Oh
mmmmmmmm
+Lambkins 18 lol
Well she had been filling to the g-spot ...
these are always so interesting to watch :)
I live in Sweden now, one thing I noticed is that they love their Fika (coffee breaks)
"a աɦɨtɛ aռɖ ɮʟaċҡ օռɛ" "ɮʟaċҡ ʟɨċօʀɨċɛ" 😂
I don't know why but your videos calm me down :)
I love Tea and Coffee! My day wouldn't be complete without at least one tea or coffee a day.. but what exactly is whitener? I use milk? 😂😅
Creamer
Powerdered milk
Impressive that you are still so slim! Great video and greeting from Norway !!
I like to put marshmallows in my coffee. Especially peppermint marshmallows
Twisty Clay really? Never thought of that! I must try it!
I like my coffee black too (and strong). :)
The ration pack videos are some of my favorites of yours!
"How much is a deciliter?"
Americans are so cute.
That's the first time I've heard that. Lol I always hear the "typical dumb fat Americans" stereotype
That too.
+rosselur Actually, I wouldn't have said that decilitre is a very common measurement term. I can figure it out because I understand what deci- means, but here in Australia we mostly just use millilitre and litre.
0roseable good luck when baking.
No, not at all. At least in Australia a decilitre is not a commonly used measurement. We use litres and millilitres. A decilitre is between those 2, so the amount can be expressed using either one of those. So 3 decilitres is 300mL, which is the most common way to express this volume, at least in Australia.
I Love watching these ration pack videos. Your end face is hilarious too
insects? no problem! but licorice? nope XD
You're just so endearing, Emmy. ❤️
+Sniggwaffles All MRE's even in America use consumer grade stuff. The difference is that Sweden allows for the commercial packaging to still be on.
