The Red Phillips knot - How to connect Fluorocarbon with braid.

- In this video I show you how I connect my braid mainline to my fluorocarbon (or mono) leader. Whether I go pike fishing och if I go feeder fishing, I use this knot as I have found it works good for me. I'm sure it will work well for all you bass fishers or perch fishers out there too. It's rather easy to learn, and easy to tie, even if you are in a hurry, like in a competition.

Tack för påminnelsen, man har sina knutar men denna hade jag förträngt lite, bra video, som vanligt!👌
I've used this knot for about 10 years now fishing in the Gulf and in shore in the Pensacola area. The only problem I ever had with it was with very smooth main lines such as Nanofil or Gliss. My solution was to finish the knot with three or four half-hitch knots going in opposite directions. Then I only cut the tag end of the main line so that there is about a quarter-inch to a half-inch remaining. That solved the problem and the knot still zips right through the guides on both the cast and retrieve.
Thanks for the update. I haven't used it with that smooth headlines, so I haven't experienced the problem you write about (which I guess is that the knot is sliding).
Nice video Mårten :)
tack för tipset MÅRTEN mycket bra film :)
Bra video. Bukar köra blodknut men denna ska jag testa. 👍
Ive used this knot and it is as advertised.
Bravo
Tjena Mårten! Har du metat havsöring på kusten någongång? Hade varit kul med någon video framöver 👍
Nej, inte testat att meta havsöring. Får se, känns som att jag inte hinner med att fiska/filma alla idéer jag själv har.
Just a question, why would you want fluorocarbon to the leader? Is it to hide the braid line from the fish or something else?
I have seen people use this for different reasons, but I use it mainly because of the same reason you say; to hide the braid from the fish. I think the braid is more visible. Maybe it makes no difference, but in my head it does, and since fishing is much about confidence I use it. Some people also use it because the fc is more abrasive resistant, and if you get caught in a rock, the braid might get cut against the rock. Some also use it because the braid is more vulnerable to fish teeth, like pike.
Nice demo. What is a centimeter? Why don’t people use inches like the rest of the world? ;)
Thanks. It's a bit confusing, isn't it? Many European countries, including Sweden where I live, use the metric system (meter, centimeter for example) most of the time, but for screensizes we still use inch. But I would think that most countries use the metric system, so actually those who use inches are "the rest of the world", I think. But 1 inch is about 2,5 cm.
Because the "rest of the world" uses the metric system. 🥴
I think the US would use the metric system if the conversion to inches and feet didn't rely on so many fractions. A cm is .394 of an inch and a foot is .3048 of a meter. If a cm was .4 if an inch and a foot was .3 of a meter then I'm pretty sure the US would use it. Don't try to force math on a county who's dumb downed their citizens. 😄
