A decade or so ago...I read that Elvis was in the top 3 vocalists of all time in a couple of lists I saw. ( I will look for them and post them if I find them). Also, many vocal experts and scholars (from Harvard and so on) have said he is the most talented vocal artist of all time. Also some of the finest vocalist in opera stated Elvis had the best voice. I don't recall her name, but she was the top female opera vocalist, she said that Elvis' voice was her favorite even above Pavarotti and others. Placido Domingo one of the top 3 male opera singers said that of all voices in popular culture, Elvis' is the voice he would like to have. Also, Elvis is inducted into more musical Halls of Fame than any other vocalist (5 Genres). Induction into a music Hall of Fame signifies "master of the genre"... He is inducted into Rock, Country, Gospel, R&B, and Rockabilly Halls of Fame....of course each having very distinct sounds vocally. The reason this is so significant...is because to be a master of a genre requires mastery of the vocal artistry of the genre. Each genre requires a unique vocal sound and artistry. The person closest to Elvis in mastery of genres, I believe is Johnny Cash, inducted into 3 Halls of Fame. Essentially, Elvis is a vocal master. Probably the greatest of all time.
I'm french dude that live near Paris. I saw the Elvis movie Yesterday, and this scene... Oh man.... I'm shocked til then. I can understand why he's the King now...
Underappreciated? By whom? I've always heard great performers, musicians and critics, who have substance in the world, praising Elvis as the best. I think those are the opinions that count, not Joe down the street. There are many world-class singers who state Elvis was their influence. I think to say "...the most underappreciated vocalist OF ALL TIME." is just a throw-away, cliched, line without substance.
Elvis loved gospel music - they say they played gospel music all night long. He won 3 Grammys for his gospel music. Yes he is underrated. I have been listening to him since I was a kid and never get tired of hearing his voice. When he died, I cried and could not believe it. This song needs to be out today. He sang with such compassion. It took a toll on him singing this song. Waltet Earl Brown wrote this song.
I always cry, when I hear him singing this song. We were full of hope the world would be changing, after the cruelfully war - and than Martin Luther King and the Kennedys were assinated. I saw never my Mother cry, but in this time she did. And we are not Americans. I think he was nearly not be able to sing, so he shouted his sadness out - therefore his singing there was so epic. After the song, I heard, he broke down backstage and cried. Love from Austria 🇦🇹
I always have a tear in my eye as well. Such a moving performance. I've just watched the DVD I have, the special features show multiple takes..they are all excellent but this one was extra special.
I hear you! I'm from Australia and my Mother was distraught when MLK and JFK were assassinated. I was 9 years old and I cried then and even now whenever I hear Elvis sing "In the Ghetto." My granddaughter is now 9 and recently asked her mother "Why did black people have their own toilets and why did white people have their own shopping malls?" My daughter told her about how the world can be so unfair to some people. She told her about Emmeline Pankhurst (the women's suffragette) and about Martin Luther King, and they listened to parts of the "I have a dream" speech. After MLK says "We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality" my 9-year-old granddaughter said to her mother, "That's so sad Mum because I don't think the world has changed for them very much at all." Sadly, I think she's right.
I always have chills when I hear/see this performance but to see YOU watching him and reacting to Elvis not only singing the heck out of that song, but FEELING it, actually brought tears to my eyes. It’s great to see young people still appreciate the phenomenon that was Elvis ❤️
That’s a very astute observation about Elvis. The iconic imagery that comes up with him, the clothes and jewelry the limos the jet planes the gold records, Cadillacs the hair all overshadow that he was also the greatest male American vocalist.
Lo externo de elvis , ropa , pelo etc eran parte de su estilo propio estilo imitado pero jamas igualado , pero el don estaba dentro de esa caja toraxica , como se dice " el don estaba alli "
It's not a performance it's his heart's cry! The beckoning candle in the darkness is the love of Jesus that can fill our hearts and help us walk hand in hand! God is on the move, look up dear brother!

You're right, Elvis was phenomenal! Look how you were mesmerized by this performance. No dancing around. No fireworks. Just Elvis singing. That is greatness. Loved your reaction.
Elvis put his ❤️ and soul into this song
Put it this way…. I’d be very pleased to wake up tomorrow and be able to sing like Elvis
Simply the❤ best...forever ...👑
This song is still relevant today. I’m praying we reach a day we can all walk hand in hand no matter color or race.
This performance shows why he was the GOAT.
Just The King
He ment every word, loved the black community!!!!
His vibrato is insane, I ducking love it.
Elvis knew when to dig deep, and he was singing from the soul on this performance.
Sad that his manager destroyed all enjoyment of it with his financial Abuse still surprised he was done for murder giving he drove Elvis to an early grave.
BEAUTIFUL‼️👏👏👏👏👏👏
That why they called him the king he could sing any song what a voice.
❤️❤️❤️❤️this song! One of my favorites by Elvis. Beautiful.
Oh yeah! He’s singing!!! ❤️
He is timeless. The vocals are always impeccable. This particular song is an anthem for our country today!!
For the world.
This is so beautiful ❤️ as was Elvis. It's not hard to see why he was 'The King' 🌏🪐🍀🌕🙏👣🇦🇺🦋🌺🦉🏡🌴❤️❤️❤️
I see Elvis I’m there.
This is one of elvis's all time favorite song because he believed in equal rights for everyone he had no hate for anyone
It`s funny that you say that "They don`t show this side of Elvis". We, his fans have always known. And there`s a bunch of us out here. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, becomes famous like him for nothing. People just don`t dig deeper into stuff. But when they do, they soon realize that they are going down the rabbit hole. Elvis is sooo much more than just a singer or entertainer!
Thanks for your great reaction and friendly greetings from Slovenia :)
Thank you so much 💯
A decade or so ago...I read that Elvis was in the top 3 vocalists of all time in a couple of lists I saw.
Elvis caused a paradigm shift on earth...
One of the greatest performances ever
50 plus years have gone by and we, his fans, still love and miss him!! Much love, Elvis!!
You’re going to fall down the Elvis rabbit hole! 😁😁😁
I also recommend reacting to some Elvis interviews to see his personality better 😁
I love when a new generation learns to appreciate ELVIS ❤Thank you for the reaction
I'm french dude that live near Paris. I saw the Elvis movie Yesterday, and this scene... Oh man.... I'm shocked til then. I can understand why he's the King now...
Elvis is the most under appreciated vocalist of all time.
Incorrect Elvis is the Greatest Vocalist of All Time and no one comes close.
@@heyyo1636 I’ve always said there’s Elvis, then everyone else a distant second.
@@russjohnson2478 You got that right.
When you listen to Elvis sing gospel, it is so emotional and uplifting. You can hear it coming from him soul.
The iconic imagery that comes up with him, the clothes and jewelry the limos the jet planes the gold records, Cadillacs the hair all overshadow that he was also the greatest male American vocalist.
greatest vocalist of any country
@@matthewdavis418 and of any Century
Lo externo de elvis , ropa , pelo etc eran parte de su estilo propio estilo imitado pero jamas igualado , pero el don estaba dentro de esa caja toraxica , como se dice " el don estaba alli "
Even the scarf that he was wearing that night good for the soldiers that were in Vietnam the blood that was lost
The GOAT, Greatest Of All Time! His music got better with age. We lost him too soon.
It's not a performance it's his heart's cry! The beckoning candle in the darkness is the love of Jesus that can fill our hearts and help us walk hand in hand! God is on the move, look up dear brother!
