Elvis was the best friend i ever had in my entire life. we met when i was 17 yrs old. I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted past that one day in time. Love your analysis! I SAW this show with a next to the stage seat. He kneeled down and sang “Love Me” to me! I didn’t breathe for about 5 minutes and I’ve never been the same!
He was definitely born to perform. I was totally in love with him from a young age. I don't believe he had one bad song. " Can't help falling in love with you" was dreamy."In the Ghetto " makes me cry still today. He is a national treasure. ❤
Never got to. I lived 45 min from the astrodome and my folks tried everything they knew to get us all tickets but they sold out immediately. That was the closest I ever got. I was a teen
You are so sweet! Finally I hear a vocal coach expressing so nicely about our King of Rock & Roll. I was 10 when he died, and I remember I cried. He was not only handsome, he was also a great singer and a great performer. As you said, thank God this videos still exist, so that we can enjoy his great music. GBY
Definitely one of my favorite Elvis songs. It’s amazing how he can still sing after all that movement. You’re right, music runs through his body like electricity. And how charming and gorgeous is he?
What you may not know, Andy, is that Elvis performed two shows a night, ( 8.30pm & 12 midnight ), for 28 days straight for two engagements a year when appearing in Vegas, with no days off. Barry Manilow plays in the same showroom now, just 6 shows every 14 days, followed by 2 weeks off .... Knowing this workload I think makes Elvis's performances even more remarkable !!
He played three shows a night on the weekend had a matinee show supper show and the midnight show and as if you ever seen the CD Elvis on tour he was in 15 cities and 15 nights and those last couple years was when his life was his health brother was failing him Elvis love his fans in the matter if he gain weight or whatever he still went on stage even sick or messed up he still performed in the voice never faltered the person I blame the most for his demise at an early age I know Elvis was a control himself to certain extent but I believe Colonel Parker work them to death in your back pocket any one of us would take advantage of that like he's the most handsome most charismatic best Stage presence best voice I've ever heard the Entertainer the twentieth-century the goat the greatest of all time AKA Elvis JUNKIEI
The high notes he hits at the end of Unchained Melody...at a time when he's so exhausted and unwell, you can see that he's suffering...those are insane high notes for baritone to hit with such a lush, full sound. Magical.
THE top performer to ever walk on a stage. No one did it better. Better examples of his voice in other songs but this was an all around spectacular performance. Not easy to dance like that and sing. The leg strength alone deserves a standing ovation. Beautiful. Vicki
Elvis was a fantastic director and producer because he knew what sounded good and could envision it and place it on stage. Ronnie Tutt, the drummer should be in the Rock Hall!
My mother always had Elvis music playing when I was growing up. She was lucky enough to see him 5 times in concert. She always would say to me....God was showing off the day he created Elvis! Love your enthusiasm!

When Elvis was in his prime (like here) he almost felt like a prolonged part of the stage. When you look up the concept of a live performer in a textbook, there should simply only be a picture of Elvis in there. At least as far as contemporary music goes. There have been many great artists live, but in Elvis I feel the stage is a part of his soul..he was meant to be on that stage, everything else was secondary.

I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of people that Miss Ronnie Tutt after Elvis passed away he played for Neil Diamond for eight years at some point he paid for The Grateful Dead's and the Carpenters I'm sure some of that was before Elvis Neil Diamond was after he played for him 8 years
I played bass bass in a short lived Elvis tribute band a few years ago and our singer wanted to do this version of suspicious minds instead of the studio version. I was blown away by the bass line and it was so much fun to play. Especially the chorus. He had such an underrated backing band in those vegas years.

There’s another concert he did I think later than this one. I don’t know the name of it, but he was in an all leather black outfit. He sang a lot of his songs that time as well. No, this one isn’t a leisure suit. He had all his costumes especially made just for him, and for some reason he loved the big stand-up collars. Later he added a cape to go with them. Then he added scarves around his neck so he could pass them out to the girls. I was a teen in the 50’s and a huge Elvis fan-had all his 45’s at the time. It was such a tragedy when he died at age 42-our loss for sure.

I grew up listening to Elvis Presley as a kid in the 1980's and as a teen in the 1990's. I was even born the same year that he passed away. I always loved his music and I use to perform his songs on stage back in high school in the late 90's. I found out a few months ago that I am a cousin to the legendary man himself. It just makes me love the King even more. Long live his music forever more.

He will always be the the greatest in my eyes. He had all the gift that we man want.
. .it’s really interesting how you walked us through the technical points by using industry terms, it helps us to understand how (technically) complex this number is . .thanks to you I’ll be looking towards observing other songs in his line up …yeh, he was a beauty, the golden child ✨
