Started watching your channel a few weeks ago when I saw your Rv at the Thousand Trails park in Orlando. Have to say you handle the rig very well! I was a fleet safety specialist for over 20 years as well as being a truck driver for 12 years. We’ve been RVing for about 33 years now. I retired in 2021 and we Rv weeks at a time. Love your channel! I’ve been sending the channel link to other friends that love semis and Rv’s.
Thank you so much, Jimmy. We appreciate your comments and watching the channel. We try to be good stewards and represent the RV community well by being proficient in how we handle our rig. Thank you for noticing and it means a lot coming from your experience.
With a tractor/ 5th wheel combination like this what do you look for in a rv campground. 80 ft long pull through with high clearance and large turning radius. I am thinking about making a small TV campground and would like some input. It would be just a few miles south of Memphis, Tn. Where you just traveled through. Thanks
Thanks for the comment Scott! It all depends on the layout of the site and campground. If we unhook we really need about 90' for space between the truck/trailer plus the Smart Car. Unless we can park side by side. We actually prefer back-in sites as they typically have more room with our overhand even though it's nowhere near the 13' we had with our DRV. We've squeezed into a 50'x20' site before but had to suck in our gut to do so. We are always on the lookout for height and radius. We have a wider turning radius than most due to Voyager's wheelbase and Orions KPRA. Solid ground is a plus (as you might have seen we've gotten stuck a few times 🤭). Good luck on your campground and keep us posted! 👍
Good radius turns and double width aisles when backing in to sites. 😆 sometimes trees are overrated! 😆 Angled aprons with angled sites makes a difference too.
Hi guys 🙋♀️🙋♂️...that was a good deal with the tree...your daughter's place looks like a Neighborhood...how do you park the truck in there??...thanks for the video...stay safe...J&A
Hey Jeanne & Alex, it is a neighborhood but with no HOA so it's ok for us to park there. Her driveway is large enough that we can fit both...but it's tight! There's a few videos that show us getting in but basically it's a 3 point turn with backing down the long street. We time our arrival for mid-day so there's less traffic. Being on a cul de sac does help. Thanks for the comments.
Hi J&A! We play musical vehicles everytime we arrive at our daughters house. After we back downhill about a quarter mile into the cul-de-sac, the driveway gets cleared out, David backs Orion in over the trench of a street gutter, around the mailbox and then avoiding the sidewalk curbing and pavers. We unhook and then I back Voyager next to Orion so the truck bed sits right under the passenger side rear slide. Sometimes we leave the Smart on the truck and other times we will take it off. Then the two cars get parked in the driveway. I'm trying to talk David into getting the drone out to film this choreography. 🤪 Thanks for the comment and your time watching the video! First off, Mark. It's Whataburger...but it is a wonder that so much flavor is packed in between two pieces of bread! LOL. Based out of Texas, it is considered "fine dining" in the Lone Star State! 😎 Much like In-N-Out Burger is a west coast thing, Whataburger is a Texas thing....but it is delicious and my favorite sandwich. Thanks for the comment.
That casino parking lot is totally unacceptable. those truckers don’t care about parking lots like that because they’re beating their companies truck. I wouldn’t take my HDT and beautiful fifth wheel through and risk busted axles. As far as that IKEA trip, I’ll bet that detour cost more than the shipping cost😉😉
They are rated for about 150,000-200,000 miles. But that is an estimate. In general, tires will age out after about 6-8 years depending on usage (road conditions and amount of time the truck sits). Tires last longer if they are driven more consistently....also helps to be properly aligned. 🤔😁🤣
We have two GPS units, Rylee. A Garmin RV unit and a Rand McNally Trucker GPS. We always enter the destination into both and I always confirm the route with a paper map which details the STAA approved roads to insure we're heading in the right direction. Many times we have to deviate from one or both during the trip as the routing does not make sense in certain segments. Thanks and I hope this helps. 😎
Hi Richard, it doesn't look like it but it is a 5th wheel. It's based on a semi trailer chassis with air ride and air brakes. We designed it and Space Craft Mfg built it. At 46'6" long and 42,000 lbs it's a little "bulky ". Lol. 😉😄 Thanks for the comments.
Thanks for the comments Mike. We ordered our Volvo 780 and had Herrin Welding Service in Kilgore, Texas build the bed. Our trailer is completely custom, designed by us and built by Space Craft Mfg. It's 46'6" long and weighs 42K lbs. It's based on a semi-trailer chassis. Appreciate your time watching the channel.
@@miker5140 One thing to keep in mind with an HDT, Mike. All 5th wheel trailers will need an air ride hitch on the HDT; otherwise, you run the risk of damage (like a trailersaver). HDT'S are designed to have more than 10K lbs on the hitch for the HDT suspension to work as it's designed.

@@jeannealex2560 Yes, Alabama for the holidays with our daughter & family after our fun "vacation" in Florida is over (tomorrow). Probably a fun camping trip before Xmas to get the holidays in high gear! LOL. Stay safe. We used to live in Greenville, loved the area and downtown. Say "hi" to Karen and Dave for us.
Can you give me the coordinates of the city park by the boat ramp. Looks like our kinda place to visit. Thanks!
Love your videos.

Is that a Spacecraft 5th wheel? If so what length do you have? We’re preparing to start our HDT full time journey. Thanks
Hey Brent- yes, it's a Space Craft. 46'6" long, 42K lbs with a 13K lbs pin weight on the hitch. Thanks for the comments. Congrats on starting your full-time journey. Lots of fun with some challenges along the way to keep it interesting.
@@bigtruckbigtravels Thanks for the quick reply. Meeting with Greg at the Tampa Show but keeping all options open. Great channel and have learned allot!
@@NomadLifeUnknown thanks Brent. We plan on attending the Tampa Show as well. Good luck. Designing a trailer is a process but nice to know options are open.
You went right past the turn off to my house . I love seeing Amish also.
It is pretty cool, Abby. The dedication to a certain way of life is remarkable. My sister used to live in the area many years ago. It has really grown!
@@bigtruckbigtravels We live off 60 hwy in Rogersville just outside of Springfield, Mo. If you swing back through here just let me know. Would love to meet you. Safe travels!
Hey I’d do that for White Castle!
Lol...Jeff, I get that!
Hi David and Sondra Being a native Ohioan I have never heard of Wonder Burger. So what's so special about them?
The detour was definitely not cost effective! Lol... but it was the thought and timing worked out... besides, it's what parents do sometimes.
Thanks for the comment. Doing something special for our daughter is always priceless. Stopping by Whataburger usually costs a few pounds. 🤪
How many miles do you get on a set of tires on the Volvo .
They are rated for about 150,000-200,000 miles. But that is an estimate. In general, tires will age out after about 6-8 years depending on usage (road conditions and amount of time the truck sits). Tires last longer if they are driven more consistently....also helps to be properly aligned. 🤔😁🤣
Wow. 500G from one trip? Do you guys keep all your content on external hard drives?
Yes. Usually about a 5TB external per year. Lol... Some weeks are more than others!
what software do you use for navigation?
We have two GPS units, Rylee. A Garmin RV unit and a Rand McNally Trucker GPS. We always enter the destination into both and I always confirm the route with a paper map which details the STAA approved roads to insure we're heading in the right direction. Many times we have to deviate from one or both during the trip as the routing does not make sense in certain segments. Thanks and I hope this helps. 😎
Did you get your kicks on route 66?
We did! It was pretty cool. Maybe a little "preview" for the future? Who knows. Thanks.
WHAT KIND OF R V AND NAME BRAND DO YOU HAVE ??
Hi Richard, it doesn't look like it but it is a 5th wheel. It's based on a semi trailer chassis with air ride and air brakes. We designed it and Space Craft Mfg built it. At 46'6" long and 42,000 lbs it's a little "bulky ". Lol. 😉😄 Thanks for the comments.
C4YT😊
Thanks 😎
care with your audio. wind noise.
Thank you. We are getting better and more cognizant of wind noise. Appreciate your comments.
NEWS FLASH
Whataburger has announced a new location in Anderson SC. Right on I85. You're welcome.
Oh....that may be a preferred route now...Alabama from Texas by way of Anderson, SC...hmmm, that sounds about right?!? 🤔😯😂😍😁
Medicine from Mexico? What the 😂
Oh yeah. Same product but with less red tape, business greed and overhead costs. Very cost effective on some brands.

Awesome,
Can you please tell me what HDTRV hauler who did the bed conversation, and what trailer do you have, as well
Model, mfg etc
Thanks for the comments Mike. We ordered our Volvo 780 and had Herrin Welding Service in Kilgore, Texas build the bed. Our trailer is completely custom, designed by us and built by Space Craft Mfg. It's 46'6" long and weighs 42K lbs. It's based on a semi-trailer chassis. Appreciate your time watching the channel.

Thank you 😊 I'm looking at getting HDT Rv hauler, and trailer
@@miker5140 One thing to keep in mind with an HDT, Mike. All 5th wheel trailers will need an air ride hitch on the HDT; otherwise, you run the risk of damage (like a trailersaver). HDT'S are designed to have more than 10K lbs on the hitch for the HDT suspension to work as it's designed.
@@bigtruckbigtravels
Thank you,
I understand that I took that in consideration when I'm building my HDTRV hauler and 5 th wheel trailer
Can you please tell me how long your truck is and the bed as well
Do you have any videos on your and trailer?
Thank you 😊
