    Thanks a bunch for your video! I made my Shokz purchase after watching your review and just completed my first run this morning with no issues at all. I was worried I would have issues since i run in the morning cold temps with a beanie/skull hat and wasn't sure if it would interfere and did not. I've used earbuds for the past several years and I sweat alot which somehow always made my skull cap tap buttons causing music to pause, skip to next song etc which was so frustrating. None of this at all with the Shokz this morning. Thanks again!

    I have a pair since about half a year... I love them. Sound is pretty good. I mainly use them for running and cycling. I can still listen to audiobooks or music and hear traffic. In the gym I use airpods, as I like the noisecancelling - shutting out the crappy gym beats.

    • @eventhisidistaken
      @eventhisidistaken Рік тому +4

      I used to want to block everything out at the gym, but I've been going to the same gym for several years now and I know a lot of people there, and so prefer to keep the opportunity to be social open. So these are great for that. The crappy gym beats are still there, but I don't really notice them when my own stuff is playing.

  • @DreTheChronic

    If you keep some comfortable ear plugs handy you’ll find that wearing them with the headphones will give you that inner ear bud affect. Just pop in the ear plugs when it’s too noisy around you, like at the gym and then take them out when you want to hear your surroundings again. Works like a charm.

Sound quality is not the greatest thing ever but better than you would expect, but I also normally use studio headphones at home. Great reveiw Phily! I have the openrun non pro version and I completely agree with everything you said here. Bass isnt amazing on the non pro version so not great for heavier music with lots of bass. but spot on for everything else (in non busy or loud enviroments). Think these pro ones improve the bass problem a bit though. 👍

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 роки тому +1

    • @RobertMauro
      @RobertMauro Рік тому +4

      Bass is indeed better, but that's because they "cheat". These are combo bone conduction/speaker headphones. The OpenRuns (I own three, went through five of the original Aeropex versions), because the transducers would keep coming loose or stop working).
      Regardless, the bass sounds better because the Pros use speakers, while the OpenRuns/Aeropex/Trekz Air (also own a few) are solely bone conducting.
      The trade-offs are the OpenRuns/Aeropex/Trekz Air series sound GREAT when you use ear plugs, while the Pros sound HORRIBLE. Why does that matter? After a long day of biking or exercising, and hitting that mass transit home from the gym/work/etc, one cannot simply tune out the external noises with ear plugs.

    In fact, I am delighted with this very lightweight audio headset, incredibly comfortable, with sound quality that is sufficient, and moreover, it performs much better than far more sophisticated products for making phone calls. It even works well for WhatsApp calls, which is not always the case with other headsets.
    I am much more critical regarding the non-standard charger, which is truly bothersome. In fact, unlike most other headsets, if we forget the charging cable, we cannot replace it with a standard USB cable that we can find everywhere... we have to store the headset and wait until we return to charge it.

I don't like running with my phone, MP3 mode is important for me, and its waterproof grade is not high enough to be used while swimming. Therefore, I switched to Wissonly Hi Runner this year.

    Had a wired version a very long time ago - brilliant. Saving up for these but more important expenses keep using up my cash. Great on bicycle. I have extremely narrow ear canals and any wax build up leaves me deaf. Bone headphones bypass the ears so I hear better with them. In-ear and over-ear stimulate wax so make me more deaf - as do hearing aids

    I would be curious to know how they work with clothes on the head, like hats, bands, etc. I find many of even high quality earbuds having this terrible design issue of being absolutely impossible to wear during winter because they tend to be pushed inside your ear.

    • @PhilyBowden
      @PhilyBowden  2 роки тому

      That’s a really good point, I’ve not yet tried these ones with a headband (obviously too warm for that right now!) but found in the winter and using my old pair you have to angle them right and have the loop bit above the headband, otherwise the headband isn’t keeping your ears warm. Definitely less comfortable, maybe the big over the ear headphones are better in the winter?

    I got tired of having to say "Huh?" every time my wife said something on our runs/walks. So I tried the Open Run pros and they are about what I expected. Decent sound quality through the mid and high range, but lacking bass. They are supposed to have better bass than the non-pro version, so they must have about zero bass. A friend at work has a different brand of bone conduction, and he said my Shokz sound great. So they must work better than other brands. They don't sound anywhere close to the quality of my Bose, but they don't isolate me from the world like the Bose. I'd say they fit in where they are intended to: Decent sound that won't fall out and lets you hear what's going on around you.

    I'm definitely not interested in hearing the noise around me when I put earphones on lol... Also would prefer sound quality over hearing the noise around me lol.. I'm not sure what the point of this device is if it degrades the point of private listening..

    Pensaba comprarlos, pero ahora que veo tu reseña como que ya no, porque básicamente los quiero para el gimnasio, me llama la atención la duración de su batería y su carga rápida, tengo unos normales que siempre me quejo de la batería que dura poco y era uno de los motivos por los que casi estaba animada a comprarlos

      @@carthage7836 uso unos audífonos Bluetooth marca Xiaomi que han salido buenos pero al igual que a ti se me caen de vez en cuando, o al saltar se corta la música y ahora sólo duran 2 horas.
      Lo que revisé es que en estos nuevos audífonos puedes ponerte adicional unos tapones que cierras por completo el audio y ahí llegas a tener más potencia, entonces esa sería la solución 😃 pues el próximo año que ya falta poco me los compraré

    I will miss the non-proprietary USB-C charge connection of my old Aftershokz Aeromove, but sadly they finally broke on me. I'll take a port cover over yet another single-purpose cable that I have to either buy extras of or can only charge at home or work. 🙄
    I do hope these don't start saying "charge me!" every goddamn minute when they still have an hour of charge left! Who does that help??
    It's also weird and not confidence inspiring that the Pro model is significantly LESS water resistant that the cheaper model. Am I going to kill these riding in the rain? 🤦‍♂️

    Not to be negative, but getting gifted the headphones is the same as being paid by Shokz. They have paid you in product.
    So thanks for the useful info, but it doesn’t actually count as “honest review”

    I’ve had two pairs of the aeropex and both sets basically died after a year, wouldn’t charge or turn on. I don’t think I would buy another pair of them based on that. They replaced the first pair which was good but wouldn’t the second which I think is fair, But I want more use than a year from a product that cost £120-30.

      That’s pretty shocking, just died out of nowhere?? My old pair of Titaniums broke but was totally my fault because I sat on them 😂 They should’ve replaced the second pair too in my opinion, they come with a 2 year warranty don’t they?
