@@waterfoker8558 I had the same problem with my OpenRun. The button completely stopped responding a couple of days after I went through a rain storm. I sent them in for warranty repair, and Shokz sent me a new pair. However, I am nervous about losing another pair from the same issue.
I nearly didn’t watch this thinking it was AI generated based on the channel name. Thanks for the honest review pointing out pros and cons and comparing to alternatives you have tried. Really useful as someone looking to buy
My Shokz were extremely uncomfortable. I work 12 hour shifts, and the tops of my ears were raw and sore. This may depend on head/face shape as well. After a year and a half of wearing them 4-5 days a week, the left side "internal speaker" detached from the housing, and began to rattle. Customer service was ZERO help.
I'm a trucker using the original aeropex. I agree and the issue is that there is zero adjustment. It's one size and that's what it is. It doesn't always bother me but sometimes it FOR SURE can cause a headache
One thing to consider, are you going to use your headset to actually talk on your phone? Shokz has a version with a short boom mic and while it may not seem like it would make a lot of difference, it does. Especially if you are using these in a business environment, you're better off with the boom mic. If you just listen and don't use them to talk do what makes you happy. My opinion on the sound is that any of these are not sound quality headsets and it seems to me (without trying them) the extra bass would bother me. Even the Shokz tend to vibrate enough on heavy bass that it more or less "tickles" my neck. I don't think I'd care for even more vibration. I'll deal with the proprietary charge cable for the additional call quality to the other party.
Looks like Shokz listened to feedback like this because they introduced USB-C charging to the OpenRun Pro 2 line. Also, the DualPitch is a game-changer. No more itchy ear canal at higher volume levels due to bass vibrations!

The light is a nice touch on them! I don’t see me using the bass feature much or it being useful though. I wonder how it compares to the price of the other models you found?
Yes the light can be very handy I'm not sure how to use the bass app feature, as I'm not sure what app to use. But they are good especially as I paid £47 . For them
i dont understand the title.. you didnt give any valid reason to avoid the other brands other than the proprietary charging cables ? which is really not an issue for most users, you can buy a new cable if lost for 7$ for the Shockz.
I followed hype by influencers and ended up buying crappy headphones. Shoks is by far the best bone condition headphones I have used. My old Aeropex finally broke after many years of heavy use. I'm now using Open run.
Thanks Dennis 4 days out from Race Day!! it might have added a tad bit in size but pretty awesome they used it to their advantage with adding a running light!
I don't mind the charger yet, but I get there may be benefits. These style ports are a smaller form factor and probably easier to waterproof. Garmin FR55 uses a custom form factor as well.
My family have a Shokz Openrun, a Philips 6606, and a Wissonly Hi Runner. Share a little of my experience SHOKZ is undoubtedly excellent in terms of sound quality, wearing comfort, and battery capacity, but unfortunately, the progress of SHOKZ in the past two years has been limited. Many new brands surpass it in terms of functionality and performance. Philips' products are very user-friendly, and I am deeply impressed by the night light features and app controls of Philips 6606. But its other performance is relatively average, such as low waterproof level, single playback mode, etc In terms of sound quality, it is difficult to compare the sound quality of bone conduction headphones with that of common earphones, but the sound quality of bone conduction headphones with a price higher than 50 dollars is good. There is not much difference in sound quality between Shokz and Philips, and I can accept both. The main reason for buying the Wissonly Hi Runner is because I want to use it while swimming. It has a waterproof grade of IPX8 and has an MP3 mode specifically designed for swimming (with 32G built-in storage), which meets my requirements. In terms of sound quality, it is similar to the other two products. This product has been in use for several months and has been working well so far
Who can honestly say that any B.C. sound quality is "excellent" ??? Podcasts sure, but for most of us(friends/reviewers), music is just tolerable. Cut the hype man! I consider myself lucky to locally buy an unbranded set that's a step up from my Samsung A52 phone speakers, and sounds "decent" for music. Maybe still on E-bay... Snobbery aside, I do also think that lil' phone speakers have come a long way.
It is through the bone , fit is key ( snug but not tight ) the biggest diff is the type of bass ( it is more vibratory ) . I've had two pair one in the 100 dollar range and a 10 dollar pair and don't notice a major difference in sound quality .
Like the idea that the Phillips bone conduction headphones have the USB connector to charge. Downside of that means that they won’t be fully waterproof. I have the Shokz Openswim Pro bone conduction headphones and they are fully waterproof IPX68. If the Phillips earphones were fully waterproof then I would have considered buying them!
The first set I bought was the Shokz. Although I have bought several other cheaper Chinese brands since; I still like them the best. At first, I thought the magnetic charger was a disadvantage. But, I have grown to prefer it over a c usb. I use the cheaper sets when I am outside and I feel I could lose the Shokz. And, I did lose one when I was out and about with it around my neck. I actually broke my first Shokz when I fell asleep and moved my head to a position that broke the band. Replacing a $50 unit is less painful than replacing a $200 unit. Still there is a cost in frustration when I can not pause the set when I am outside and someone comes up to have a conversation.
I actually prefer mag chargers, the last one I had with USB even though it has a cover my sweat still seeps through. Can see it seeping into the port and looks like it's starting to corrode. To each their own though, I just sweat too much lol
Personally I still prefer Shokz. Most of these problems are preferences and depend on the person. I work 12-14 hour days and do a lot of driving and walking. I also am required to wear a bump cap and have glasses. Usually I put my Shokz on in the morning and forget that I'm wearing them. I also have a small head and Shokz is the only brand that fits. Others have too much hanging off the back of my head and feel more uncomfortable. Sound quality is decently good despite being bone conduction. That's another problem with almost all bone conduction brands. Almost none of them are actually bone conduction. They usually have tiny speakers directed toward your ears. Bone conduction headphones should not be heard by surrounding people. That just makes them speakers that can cover up sounds from your environment. Shokz are, which means you can put in ear plugs if needed. I do this for factories and loud environments and it makes the Shokz even better.
Shokz OpenRun now have a USB-C options. For me, the support from Shokz as been superb. I can't say the same for Phillips. Agree, wish Shokz had better equaliser controls and that they would bring the USB-C option to the OpenRun Pro. I quite like the magnetic connector, but yeah, it is another cable to manage.
I got a pair of these Philips A6606, they’ve been good, but today there’s no sound from the right side. Sound is only coming from the left. Has anyone experienced this and have a solution?
I actually like the magnetic connector for the Shokz. Now that I have 2 cables for it (they came with an extra), I don't care. But I do understand why people would prefer USB-C.
I personally prefer magnetic charger, since if you accidentally pull it from headphones it creates no damage. Especially if you drop over $100+ , I don’t mind USB-C but I had experience with some earbuds and I accidentally and pull it and it’s ripped USB-C inside. I burned away $300+, that’s why I switch to this shoks
Just curious if you’ve tried the shokz open run pro 2 yet? I saw a review on them and they said they sound much better with audio than the open run pro? Was curious how they might compare to the Phillips? thanks for any input.
Hi. I appreciate your mission, and also have been evaluating BC headsets. Your tastes are however, more $$ than mine. One of the the numerous compromises I've been facing, is acceptance of proprietary cables. I'm less annoyed if the headset is truly swimwear.. Fun fact: I generally prefer the track skip control on your Philips versus my Openrun. 3 seconds is indeed a long hold for a skip, I use a headset with 1 second skip. What a world eh..
I got a Pro Air brand from Temu for less than $5. USB C charger, nice loud sound, light weight, comfy, 1 hr. to full charge ALL day use and great range. I have lond hair so I put the around my neck under my hair and I wear glasses which makes it hard to find a comfy pair.
Thank you for this great review. I'd like to know...the Philips you showed come out with a specific app to change between the two mods? Is the app availaable to be downloaded on Android smartphones? Thank you again
Yes to both questions. The app is solid where it has an EQ and you can change sound modes. It is on the Play store too. I made a vide on the Shokz Openfit and the Oladance headphones if your in the market for some those are a worthy mention too.
Meh. I can wear my shokz in the shower or heavy rain. Never had a problem. The unique charger is annoying but I don’t mind it too much because it saves me a micro amount of time being magnetic.
Off the subject question. I have severe hearing loss. Do these headphones happen to have the ability to send sound around you through a microphone into the headset like a hearing aid?
Try Soundpeats runfree. Not bone conduction. They call it air conduction but still allows for full awareness because it doesn’t block your ears. Full bass, especially with the app. Great sound. Best of all just around $35.
I’ve been looking for headphones but the earbuds slip and over/on ear headsets hurt my ears because of the glasses. These bone conducting ones seems to be a great alternative but I want to know the sound quality
They sound fairly decent. Imagine putting your mobile device speaker next to your ear. It sounds better than the phone speakers of course but just an idea of what the experience is like. Hope this helps
Yeah but for the proprietary charger the openrun mini are waterproof enough to shower in. I'll deal with having to keep the charger in one place not to lose it for that
I have the shokz open run, they are ok, but definitely purpose specific. They are good for when I need the situation awareness but if I don't I definitely prefer more traditional earbuds or full headphones. Music is kinda muffled with bone conduction and at higher volumes the vibrations kinda hurt my head.
I tried on shokz today and found they didn’t fit my head. I had to push the “speaker” to my temple for quality sound. If they are true bone conducting, shouldn’t they produce sound behind the ear as well?

I've liked everything you said about the Phillips. But there's no paws sometimes I like to stop the music and listen to Nothing. And the aftershock has paws and it has C connection charger same as the Phillips. But it doesn't have the base like Phillips. You did not say anything about the running time, and how long will it last.
how do the bone conducting ones compare to anything regular? is the sound quality just worse? is it possible that the best ever sounding bone conducting headphones could completely replace some avarage bluetooth earbuds?
If we are talking about sound quality, bone conduction headphones can't compare to in ear headphones. I only use bone conductive headphones for swimming, and because they have to be sealed you need a proprietary cable for charging and file transfer.. having a usb socket on bone conducting headphones defeats the purpose of why these even exist. You can get 10x better sound from 20$ earbuds and if you want to hear your surroundings you can buy earbuds with pass through and they will still be cheaper than bone conducting headphones.
I just got the Aiwa OpenEar Go (gray model) on Amazon for like under 20... I've never heard bone conduction before and I can say these have stellar high-end sound, but the bass is quite lacking. As in there's essentially no bass drops or subbass to speak of.
Good luck with the marathon dude ! One question. For me the native charger is not a deal breaker so wich headphones would you recomended? Is there really a diference between a generic brand or something like shock? I want to buy me first and only pair and want the most out of it.
Much appreciated Oswaldo! if the charger isn't a deal breaker I have 4 bone conducting headphones (Shokz OpenRun, OpenRun Pro, Klatree and now the Phillips) I can barely notice a difference on any of them (from comfort to audio) but the Phillips because of the tad increase in size its much louder, and its USB C. All of them are ip67, same 9, 10 hour battery life. At this point I would go by design. I do like the Shokz open run color selection, but I am using the Phillips over the 4 of them. Hope this helps.
You do have play pause sir if you press the left side on the flat part it's a button. This will pause which is a reason I purchased them. The problem I'm having is while listening to my music when I receive a call they can't hear me which is really annoying 😢 I don't want to open a app to change the setting so they can hear me. Any resolution for me ?.
I'm sorry, but I find it hard to justify . the sound quality of bone conductors in general is inferior no matter what you do . paying 100$ will result in the same sound quality of no-brand 20-40$ bone conducting headphones.I tested it and was surprised. Going underwater a USB-C connector becomes a real downside . the magnetic 4 pin cable is the way to keep the headphones IP68 waterproof. many Chinese brands today make good bone conducting headphones. not the crap it used to be.
The Phillips hands down are the loudest. I ran with them on my last race. You could blast that thing real loud it could block a lot of noise around me. Also keep in mind it does come with some sound leakage as expected.
Which headphones do you find have the strongest bluetooth connectivity to your Garmin watch? Seems like a lot of bluetooth headphones cut in and out while playing music during a run. Wondering if you have a pair that you would recommend to avoid this issue?
I tried the shokz open run and returned them immediately. Sound is THAT bad.... Bought now a Cleer Arc II Sport and they are AWESOME. Same comfort, much better design and now I enjoy perfect sound while jogging outside.
OK, the one thing I don't like on them is that you need to download an app to use it, and you have no control buttons on it. My old pair of bluetooth headset I used for running just used normal bluetooth, connected to it, and I controlled everything via the watch, including sound quality. For me, to have to install another app is a total deal breaker, and i don't even want to know what type of information Philipps is stealing form your phone, like location data, contacts aso.
Man, i was really excited to pick these up because of the features you mentioned, but then i saw the Amazon reviews on these. Under 4 stars...Ouch! Too bad.
to this day I still use them often. I also been using the shokz Openfit a lot. USB-C Charger, Compact. Not Bone Conduction but they are worth checking out bro.
Hi Al, have you ever tried the newer TAA7607 in comparison with this TAA6606 version? I'm quite confuse to which one should i get. Sound quality and loudness is really important for me since i live very noisy road 😂. Thanks a lot in advance!
I only tried the TAA6606 so I can speak in behalf of the other model. These tho compared to the Openrun Pro headphones and another pair from Klatree are substantially louder. Hope this helps!
The mic on these are actually pretty good. They work and sound the same way a premium earbud would. Ive made calls plenty of times while running and cycling. Moving forward ill do mic test in each of these.
It has a cover protecting the USB-C. You can submerge them in water I believe its 20 minutes up to 1 meter. They are not intended tho for swimming tho. Hope this helps

100% support the idea that electronics with proprietary chargers should be boycotted. I've done this with the iPhone for 16 years, and in 2023 they finally folded. Proof that boycotting works. I'm still boycotting iPhones but for other reasons now.

The ip67 still not enough, mine has moisture seeping in and killing the button. You want max waterproof for the best longest lasting
@@waterfoker8558 I had the same problem with my OpenRun. The button completely stopped responding a couple of days after I went through a rain storm. I sent them in for warranty repair, and Shokz sent me a new pair. However, I am nervous about losing another pair from the same issue.
Crazy that they charge you more and reduce the rating.
I just bought same due to water rating, I like to shower with headphones, hoping will be ok
That's doing too much my guy, Why not just get a shower speaker? Those do indeed exist. @@ca6360
18 months at 12 hours per day seems like good lifecycle to me, most people using nothing like that time
I'm a trucker using the original aeropex. I agree and the issue is that there is zero adjustment. It's one size and that's what it is. It doesn't always bother me but sometimes it FOR SURE can cause a headache
There is a play/pause button, it is the left bone-conductor, you can also answer and hang up calls with that button, otherwise great review!
On the left, right by earlobe. Thanks Bro for the recommendation on these. Going to use them this marathon coming up!

I needed these during those winter months running in the dark.
I really thought that with usb-c the headset would be larger, the back light was a nice surprise 👌🏼
Good luck with the marathon!!
Share a little of my experience
SHOKZ is undoubtedly excellent in terms of sound quality, wearing comfort, and battery capacity, but unfortunately, the progress of SHOKZ in the past two years has been limited. Many new brands surpass it in terms of functionality and performance.
Philips' products are very user-friendly, and I am deeply impressed by the night light features and app controls of Philips 6606. But its other performance is relatively average, such as low waterproof level, single playback mode, etc
In terms of sound quality, it is difficult to compare the sound quality of bone conduction headphones with that of common earphones, but the sound quality of bone conduction headphones with a price higher than 50 dollars is good.
Thanks for you honest review.Very glad that you like our headphones. If you have any questions about the product please let us know.
@@wissonly Thank you for your enthusiastic reply. So far, it has performed very well. If there are any other questions, I will contact you
Who can honestly say that any B.C. sound quality is "excellent" ??? Podcasts sure, but for most of us(friends/reviewers), music is just tolerable. Cut the hype man! I consider myself lucky to locally buy an unbranded set that's a step up from my Samsung A52 phone speakers, and sounds "decent" for music. Maybe still on E-bay... Snobbery aside, I do also think that lil' phone speakers have come a long way.
Does it really conduct the sound through the bones? Or is it just a speaker below the ears, like a tiny boom box?
It is through the bone , fit is key ( snug but not tight ) the biggest diff is the type of bass ( it is more vibratory ) . I've had two pair one in the 100 dollar range and a 10 dollar pair and don't notice a major difference in sound quality .
Cool. The first time I ever heard about this device was in 1980. Nice to see its still around.
Do the swimwear ones actually work well in water?
I got a Pro Air brand from Temu for less than $5. USB C charger, nice loud sound, light weight, comfy, 1 hr. to full charge ALL day use and great range. I have lond hair so I put the around my neck under my hair and I wear glasses which makes it hard to find a comfy pair.
Standardizing on wireless charging for that sealed up IP** rating ideally.
Nice review of the bone conducting headphones, thanks for the honesty.
I'm new at this. So you don't download the music to the earphones and you still need to run with your iphone. Right?
Correct that it doesn’t store any music. You would connect to a mobile phone or a watch. I pair to my Garmin all the time.
@@Aesthetic_Al Thank you
Thank you for this great review.
The magnetic charger is a nice touch. It's like the MagSafe charger of Apple MacBooks. An elegant touch
Good luck with your run and God bless. Great video. Thank you.💪🏼🙏🏻❤️
I Really Appreciate that!!
Off the subject question. I have severe hearing loss. Do these headphones happen to have the ability to send sound around you through a microphone into the headset like a hearing aid?
Shokz do have pause. I have shokz open run pros. I shower with them and wear them them the whole day listening to stuff nonstop. Love them
Try Soundpeats runfree. Not bone conduction. They call it air conduction but still allows for full awareness because it doesn’t block your ears. Full bass, especially with the app. Great sound. Best of all just around $35.
I like that sports watch, which one is it?
How is the mic volume? The Demicea X6 is horrible.
The Shoxz openmove has USB-C charging, it's the cheapest one in the lot, and IMO, the softest (in terms of volume), maybe I got a bad unit
What headband do you use? It looks nice 😄

Thanks 🙏🏼 Seems like it is only available on the us store 😢
You can skip on the tozo because I have the magnetic charger, and the same way you do it on the philp is the same you do on the tozo
I've liked everything you said about the Phillips. But there's no paws sometimes I like to stop the music and listen to Nothing. And the aftershock has paws and it has C connection charger same as the Phillips. But it doesn't have the base like Phillips. You did not say anything about the running time, and how long will it last.
What about the ones to avoid?
Good to know, was debating to get them for awhile.
They aren't for everyone but for sure a difference experience if you run with busy streets or maybe on the trails 👍
Ayyy awesome content bro! 🤙🤙
I never get to experience this type of audio set. Looks cool
can you recommend any bone conduction headset that is wired? I'm too tired of in-ear and over-ear, thank you
I have a question; I have had about 7 pairs of Plantronics and now the after shokz; they all are effecting my hearing. Any suggestions?
how do the bone conducting ones compare to anything regular? is the sound quality just worse? is it possible that the best ever sounding bone conducting headphones could completely replace some avarage bluetooth earbuds?
If we are talking about sound quality, bone conduction headphones can't compare to in ear headphones. I only use bone conductive headphones for swimming, and because they have to be sealed you need a proprietary cable for charging and file transfer.. having a usb socket on bone conducting headphones defeats the purpose of why these even exist. You can get 10x better sound from 20$ earbuds and if you want to hear your surroundings you can buy earbuds with pass through and they will still be cheaper than bone conducting headphones.
Anyone have a tip to clean the little holes out? I wipe them down at the end of the day, but it just slowly builds up. It's frustrating.
I just got the Aiwa OpenEar Go (gray model) on Amazon for like under 20... I've never heard bone conduction before and I can say these have stellar high-end sound, but the bass is quite lacking. As in there's essentially no bass drops or subbass to speak of.
Does it have mic?
yes!! Phone calls or simply activating Siri or Google Assist is possible because of the a mic
Awesome video, what is that sign that's displaying your UA-cam handle? It seems really cool
Thanks bro. It's from Tidbyt I got it for my bday. It displays my UA-cam handle or Strava stats. You can link it to multiple apps. shorturl.at/czCV7
Which are the 'loudest' for a person who can only use bone conductive to hear
The Phillips hands down are the loudest. I ran with them on my last race. You could blast that thing real loud it could block a lot of noise around me. Also keep in mind it does come with some sound leakage as expected.
How can people hear them if they are none conducting?
Which headphones do you find have the strongest bluetooth connectivity to your Garmin watch? Seems like a lot of bluetooth headphones cut in and out while playing music during a run. Wondering if you have a pair that you would recommend to avoid this issue?
What watch do you have bro? I mainly pair running earbuds to my watch (Garmin Epix 2) and I never have an issue of them cutting in and out.
So this product has no voice cancellation? How is the mic performance? Anyone knows?
Man, i was really excited to pick these up because of the features you mentioned, but then i saw the Amazon reviews on these. Under 4 stars...Ouch! Too bad.
to this day I still use them often. I also been using the shokz Openfit a lot. USB-C Charger, Compact. Not Bone Conduction but they are worth checking out bro.
I’ve been wearing bone induction 28 years I have a implanted bone device now 100% connected to phone
Are there any wired ones for gaming?
Hi Al, have you ever tried the newer TAA7607 in comparison with this TAA6606 version? I'm quite confuse to which one should i get. Sound quality and loudness is really important for me since i live very noisy road 😂. Thanks a lot in advance!
I only tried the TAA6606 so I can speak in behalf of the other model. These tho compared to the Openrun Pro headphones and another pair from Klatree are substantially louder. Hope this helps!
@@Aesthetic_AlHow is the microphone compared to the other brand? It will be quite crucial during a phone conversation?
Do these have a mic? How does that project? I need a set with a great mic....
The mic on these are actually pretty good. They work and sound the same way a premium earbud would. Ive made calls plenty of times while running and cycling. Moving forward ill do mic test in each of these.
The button feature is on a wide variety of devices my Sena R1, Anker Life q30, q20, etc it's on every thing.
3 seconds is a looong press for a skip track in this day and...
Can I swim in these? If it has usb-c does that mean not waterproof?
It has a cover protecting the USB-C. You can submerge them in water I believe its 20 minutes up to 1 meter. They are not intended tho for swimming tho. Hope this helps
Are you getting paid by Phillips?
a simple thought about the proprietary charging… that's it… thats the least thing you’ll need to consider…all of my electronic gadget charger are in different type but they still working …up to the point the main gadget fails…
how much
Any recommendations for women with small heads? I bought one and it is too big
Check out the Shokz open run mini. I had them and returned them for regular because during my runs with a headband it just felt way too snugged.
1year update?
gracias por tu video, estuve pensando en cambiar mis audífonos normales por unos shoks con la misma tecnología, porque pensé que sería una mejor opción para la saludo auditiva. Pero este video me ayudará bastante a tomar una decisión.
Does it have an SD card reader?
Does someone use this type of headphones for crossfit/gymnastics? I'm wondering if buying taa6606 is a good idea? Thinking about sony wf-l900 and can't decide which is better 🤔
No pause, no deal.
not having a play button is a dealbreaker to me. A magnetic charger is fine. less chance that the socket will break eventually.
I know it’s a year later, so this may have already been mentioned. Shokz has a USB C charge port.
It's so ridiculously easy to find replacement/additional charging cables...takes little effort on Amazon or Ebay.
Isko refund karne ka tareeka Hao kya koi, meine bhi ise Instagram per dekhkar purchase kiya tha but ye product na bhejkar dusra ek normal earphone bhe diya hai
FYI you can control your music with Siri-“Hey, Siri, next song” etc
Are they any good for audiobooks that’s all I want them for really
old Aftershokz are still available, cheap and with usb-c
100% support the idea that electronics with proprietary chargers should be boycotted. I've done this with the iPhone for 16 years, and in 2023 they finally folded. Proof that boycotting works. I'm still boycotting iPhones but for other reasons now.
Whaaaat - the running light might sell it for me.
