Isn't it amazing how the first 30 seconds makes a person think deep! All he did was wrote a song from the heart. Give all his music a listen. He speaks from his own experience with life. Everyone should be able to connect with him and thank you for a honest reaction.

68 years old. I have watched 50 years of the blue team and the red team keep us at each others throats while they use our money to enrich themselves. Both teams should just be re- named the Uniparty. Great reaction!! Never watched a reaction video until this song was released I am an old 68 year old and have watched every reaction video on this song I can find. I love reading the comments. The song still brings me to tears when I think of how far our country has fallen. Oliver Anthony was his grandfathers name so he paid tribute by calling his label Oliver Anthony Music. His real name is Chris. Since the viral video made him a star he has opened each show with bible verses. He is an amazing human. This song does not belong to the red team or the blue team. They have quite a game going to keep us at each others throats. This song belongs to every person that has lived these lyrics. I pray for this mans safety as he navigates this mine field of fame. "I wish politicians would look after miners and not just minors on an island somewhere" is a dangerous lyric.
I gotta cut back on watching ALL the videos.... remember with each passing hour his reach is growing exponentially...

If it must have a musical category, I would say more bluegrass because of the resonator guitar, which is a staple of that genre. But probably the best overall category is "art", and probably high art at that, given the type of impact it is having, a rare thing the likes of which none of us are likely to see again in our lifetime. Good reaction.
Love his style of what I feel is Appalachian Folk Music. Sort of a modern day Woody Guthrie from the 1930s. Loved your reaction, just luckily happened to come across your post. Love your take on his vocals and sound, your feeling is the same as the WORLD. They too have grab hold of his song and found meaning in Oliver's tune. The main thing I have found from watching reviews is no matter who WE are or where WE are from, this tune has a speaks to something inside each one of US. It may be different meaning to each one of US but it is there we feel his sorrow and anger for the state of our Nation = however, if WE all come to the same conclusion, and UNITE! things can CHANGE = they can NOT stay the way they are! Oliver has a song for the world. He included us in his song. He knows there are people like him needing the comfort to be heard. I know one thing he has God in his heart and he is a good ole boy. He is a hard working honest man. This young man has a lot to offer. He is a True American Patriot and all the patriot Americans need to stand tall and have your say.

The brand he's playing is the last name of the inventor...he was a musician and his banjo and guitar both became damagedandd he combined them so he could still play music....love this reaction. So many people try to insert race intoanm issue where itisn't applicable, and i always love ANYONE with enough wherewithal to realize it doesn't matter. Americans are Americans. West Virginia Appalachian "Folk" music! Kind of music mountain people developed over 100 years ago! Irish, German, Scottish immigrants dating back well before the Civil War.
What Oliver is playing is a "Resonator Guitar", typically called a Do-Bro; they were very popular about the turn of the 20th century. Primarily used in Blue Grass, Folk and Country music.
I bet this tract will create a resurgence of the Do-Bro popularity!

All reactions were very positive and emotional. Despair-Hopelessness-Frustation-Drugs-Suicide, says it all. This song really hits home with the pain and suffering of both young and old.
